S50 SHL Awards Show
#46

Up next let’s take a quick look at the seasonal awards already given out based on regular season dominance.

First up we have the Sergei Karptosov trophy awarded to the player who led the league with the most points. This year that award goes to none other than Mikhail Lokitonov from the Toronto North Stars. Mikhail led the league with 67 points, including 21 goals and 46 points. Congrats @ml002

Next we have the Jay Mcdonald trophy awarded to the player who led the league in goals. After a hard fought battle we have a pair of co-winners for this award as both Piotr Czerkawski of the New Orleans Specters and Noah Konn of the Winnipeg Jets finished the regular season with a deadly 27 goals. Congratulations @majesiu and @NJBadApple. That’s one hell of a retirement present.

Going the other way, the next award is the Turd Ferguson trophy awarded to the player who best exhibits an inability to follow the rules (most PIMs). This season that award goes to Poopity Scoop of the Buffalo Stampede. A fitting award for a player of him name. He finished the season with 109 minutes in the box, 21 more than the next guy. Congratulations @Baelor Swift.

Lastly we have the Mike Honcho trophy awarded to the goaltender who finished with the lowest goals against average. We’re going back to Buffalo on this one as their starting netminder, Cedric Robinson finished the season with a sparkling 2.49 GAA. Congratulations @grok.

Mikhail Lokitonov Stars @ml002

Jay McDonald Trophy - Most Goals
Piotr Czerkawski Specters @majesiu
Noah Konn Jets @NJBadApple

Turd Ferguson Trophy - Most Penalty Minutes

A goaltender is only as good as the team in front of him, so as we step away from the pipes we meet the defender. Our next award is the Scott Stevens trophy given to the blueliner the awards committee deem to be the best. Since the introduction of the defensive defenseman award this one tends to lean more on the offense, but still puts significant emphasis on defensive play as well. Our nominees are…

Kristaps Ball Barracuda @jcfbey01
Tig Murphy Steelhawks @notorioustig
Charlie Schieck pride @Grapehead

And the winner is…

One of just two defenders to finish the season with over a point per game, Ball led all defenders in scoring with an insane 56 points. He also amassed 23 power play points, the most in the league, and 79 shot blocks, 5th among all defenders. Congratulations @jcfbey01 !

Finishing the regular season with an absolutely insane 62 points Mika not only shattered the rookie scoring record, but nearly led the entire league in scoring finishing second to linemate and Karpotsov winner Mikhail Lokitonov. We are all very eager to see where this young stars career will go in the coming seasons. Congratulations @Mika_Kandinsky !

Xavier Paquette! Stars Stars Stars

After bouncing around with several different teams in S49 he seems to have found a home in Toronto after an absolutely dominant season alongside Kandinsky and Lokitonov. Finishing the regular season with 52 points, he more than doubled his total of last season where he finished with just 22 points. Congratulations @Paq !

That’s two for Tampa Bay and now two for Toronto! Who will reach three first!? Up next we have the Bojo Biscuit trophy. Introduced in S46, this award is given to the defenseman deemed to have the best defensive gameplay in the regular season. Emphasis is placed on keeping the puck out of your net (and end) and far less on scoring. Our nominees are…

Rex Kirkby Platoon @Acsolap
Richard Physt Specters @CptSquall
Zander Rhys Stars @ThePandava

And the winner is…

Up next we have the always heavily debated Jeff Dar trophy. Awarded to the forward who best exhibits two way play it can be quite difficult to peg the winner in a league that leans so heavily on offense. This year’s nominees are…

Andreas Kvalheim Renegades @raymond3000
Mike Izzy Dragons @Mike Izzy
Mikhail Lokitonov Stars @ml002

And the winner is…

Thanks for the sig ragnar!

Andreas Kvalheim! Renegades Renegades Renegades

Finishing the season with 245 hits, he led the entire league by a wide margin and terrorized opponents with his punishing style of game play. By no means one dimensional, he also collected 49 points, just one point shy of a point per game pace on a non-playoff Renegade squad. Congratulations @raymond3000 . Do we have yet another potential hall of famer in your future?!
