San Francisco Glass Man
#1

(Ready for Grading 500 words)

In s46 a promising young goaltender started his career in Lethbridge with bright hopes for the future. Nadeau was the first goalie of a brand-new expansion franchise and expectations were high. In his first year of the SMJHL Nadeau put up respectable numbers with regards to the quality of play in front of him. His following two remaining season in Lethbridge saw Nadeau with Goalie of the Year in the SMJHL giving him the label of best goalie in the league and of his draft class going into the SHL. When Nadeau joined the San Francisco Pride, Pride management had high hopes for the young rookie after his stellar minor league records and for the most part they were not disappointed until S50. From S46 to halfway through S49 Nadeau was on an upwards trajectory as a prospect until he received a hip injury midway through S49. Nadeau began to stagnate while his peers around him flourished and he was left behind and the potential starter for the Pride was nothing but a glorified back up goalie that couldn’t stay healthy. S50 saw Nadeau out of commission for 85% of the season as he was plagued with injury after injury essentially cementing that he would no longer be the touted goalie of the future for the Pride. Nadeau in all essence is a glass man with bad hips, and with a goalie at his age of 25 is a concerning to say the least.

If you take a look at Nadeau’s numbers S50 has been his worst year in the SHL yet, I personally feel that it isn’t just an injury issue either as they games, he has played he has looked like a totally different person. He is extremely lucky that he got a contract extension worked out before his injury trouble in S49 that stretches to S52 however I could potentially see the Pride moving on from him. If we take a look at where he was taken in the SHL draft he isn’t a disappointment as he was drafted in the 4th round of the S46 draft but the comparisons again go back to his domination in the minor league. That being said there may be some positive news on the Nadeau front as he was seen in full gear playing in the IIHF tournament for team Japan and managed to post his best record yet although the numbers were not as good as we would have hoped for. This could potentially signal a second coming if you will for Nadeau and we will be interested to continue watching him to see if he can get that step back into his game or if he will succumb to yet another injury. Nadeau has some time to heal and train for the upcoming season as there is a lockout in place but don’t hold your breath as it is likely, he goes down halfway through S50 with another hip injury or during training camp , glass hips and all.
