S51 PT #5 - In The Kitchen

Daniel Smeb is a terrible cook and never really makes anything to eat unless you count simple stuff like sandwiches or warming up premade food. Most of his meals are usually made for him by the team when he goes to the rink or he either orders something to eat or goes out with friends and teammates. He's also much too lazy to go shopping and stock up on groceries or food so he usually just raids his teammates houses for food and eats everything they have, especially his fellow Smeb brothers. His favorite to raid is Parker Smebs fridge as he seems to always have an unlimited stock of food just sitting there, he's not sure why he needs so much food or when he's always restocking it but he has everything, especially milk and ribs which he seems to be addicted to even though it makes him sick when he eats and drinks it.

Esa Parmborg has the word "Parm" in his name so naturally he is an excellent cook. He needs to be in order to fuel his 350 pound body. What is his specialty you ask? Well big surprise, it's Chicken Parm! He prepares himself and eats it before and after every game.

The Parm King will now share his go-to Chicken Parm recipe!

First find yourself the best quality chicken breasts, like in other facets of life large breasts are usually best. I recommend organic breasts not those processed ones, natural breasts are always best. Once you have the breasts you want to pound them thin, it's okay cuz this is chicken we're talking about, not too thin but nothing thicker than about an inch, then you'll be dipping them in scrambled egg (egg wash) and then bread crumbs.

For your bread crumbs use Italian seasoned bread crumbs mixed with a little panko bread crumbs, like 1/3. I season my bread crumbs even more using garlic powder, chopped onion (the dry sprinkle kind), basil, oregano or italian seasoning mix, a dash of old bay seasoning (optional) and then some freshly grated parmesan cheese. Basically your doctoring up your bread crumbs however you like. When covering the chicken cutlets in bread crumbs after dipping in egg you want to really pack the crumbs on, mush it on and press with a fork make sure the bread crumbs get in there good and stick and the cutlet is fully covered.

Let the cutlets sit a bit while you put on your sauce, I'm not going to get into sauce preparation here, so just use or make your favorite tomato sauce. If it's from scratch great, if not that's fine just use a quality jarred sauce but jazz it up a bit with spices like we did above with the bread crumbs. RAO's homemade marinara sauce is a good one. Heat the sauce up on the stove until it boils then turn to low heat and simmer while you fry up your cutlets.

Heat olive oil in a large pan on medium, a thin layer over the entire face of the pan will do. Once hot lay your breaded cutlets in there gently. Cook 2 at a time, let the bread crumbs crisp to a golden brown, flip over do the same on the other side. Once both sides golden brown remove from pan, continue the process until all cutlets are lightly fried to a golden brown. You'll finish cooking them in the oven.

Preheat Oven to 350, yes the same as my player weight. Find yourself a large pyrex dish or similar to cook the chicken in the oven.

Apply a layer of sauce to the bottom of the pyrex, lay the cutlets in on top of the sauce, side by side, then smother in sauce to your liking.

Apply freshly grated parmesan cheese until the sauce is completely covered.

Apply shredded Mozzarella cheese in abundance covering the chicken breasts entirely. You can also use sliced fresh mozzarella for this if you prefer.

Place in the oven and cook at 350-375 degrees for about 30 minutes, until cheese is melted or you can no longer refrain from taking it out and eating it.

Slice a chicken breast make sure it's cooked through, then start eating until you explode.

Enjoy.

Commander Shepard is completely inept at cooking as his entire life in service to N& he had his meals cooked for him. Shepard knows the basic field survival cooking but a special Christmas dinner he wouldn't know where to start. During his time as a space marine he had his trusted chef; Mass Sergeant Gardner. Gardner keeps Shepard on a great diet throughout the season to keep Shepard lean. However since Shepard has come over to this dimension he has taken an interest in cooking as there are many delicacies in our time that the future did not have like Crab and lobster. As well as simple things like Bananas. Shepard has gotten keen at cooking a great steak as his favourite meal is a Steak and Crab which he cooked for both the Normandy crew and the Jets for Christmas. But don’t ask Shepard to cook a chicken or do any kind of baking
