Please Welcome your S51 IIHF Latvia hockey team! While the team is coming off of a unfortunate tournament from S50, the squad has only gotten better since and is looking at reminding the world that Latvia can play just as well as Canada and Ireland. While S49 we saw the team lead the round robin in points, they were defeated 5-2 by team GRB (who by the way did make it to the finals that year). It seems that this defeat stuck with the team as S50 would be full of disappointment as Latvia would fail to even qualify for the medal round.

But with most of the core from S49 still here and the young guns who have had two seasons to bulk up, Latvia is looking to bring the success from the 40's tournaments into the 50's.

Uz priekšu

Ignatius Blunt TPE: 1082  Jets

While the Jets were able to make the playoffs this year on what one may consider a mediocre season, @Gaia Mormont was able to have the best two way game as a forward for the jets. Finishing with 33 points (second most goals on the team too), the best plus minus on the team, third most hits on the team and second best shooting percentage*(looking at players in Winnipeg's top 6), it is clear Blunt will be one of the leaders for team Latvia in the upcoming IIHF tournament

Viktor Marius TPE: 1734  Stampede

Buffalo played some great hockey this season in a tough Eastern conference, and part of it is thanks to @karey and the power forward position he played. Finishing with 37 points, leading the team in hits by almost 100 and taking the third most shots on the team, it is clear that Viktor's aggressive play will make him one of the big offensive leaders for his country.

Herb Robert TPE: 1439  syndicate

@gerarob was the number one center for a strong Chicago team which was them finish the season with 60 points. While Herb was not playing in his natural position, it did not stop him from doing what he does best. Besides the below average faceoff stat, Herb put up 45 points and finished with a crazy stat of +19 while playing a ton of minutes. Herb clearly knows how to control the game when he's on the ice and Latvia is excited to see him produce in yet another tournament.

Florence Clijsters TPE: 801 Chiefs

While Minnesota had an ugly year that I'm sure they'd like to forget, @enigmatic did his best to contribute with the little ice time given. finishing with 26 points on a team that really struggled to score is not too bad. with a very high scoring stat along with his great hands, Florence can use this tournament to put on a show as I'm sure he will get more ice time then he would see in the SHL and maybe remind the Cheifs that he could be a bigger option going forward in the near future.

Calogero Crudelli TPE: 844  Jets

Another player from a Canadian team cracks team Latvia as @jason97 really impressed the jets in his rookie season. finishing with 28 points and having the second highest plus minus stat while playing along side Ignatius Blunt is a great start to his career. Who knows, maybe the tournament will give the two players a chance to boost their chemistry together and we could be in for quite the dynamic duo this tournament.

Brock Nuck TPE: 1010  Dragons

For @NUCK he would probably like to forget this season and move on. Finishing with 18 points on the top line of a team that took advantage of a weaker western conference is not exactly a highlight season that he would have wanted. There is no doubt that Nuck has the ability to play some great hockey, I'm confident that a great play maker like himself will use the IIHF to remind both himself and his current team what level he is truly capable of playing at.

Boris Poroshenko TPE: 902  Wolfpack

Boris has really struggled on the Wolfpack roster, plain and simple. Finishing the season with 10 points while playing most of it on wing, he found some minor end of the season success when the wolfpack allowed him to play his natural position at center. Boris is ready to take the momentum he had near the end of the SHL season into the IIHF and show to both himself and coaches that he has what it takes to stay relevant in a competitive league.

Dean Colt III TPE: 657  Platoon

Dean is another player who wants to forger S51 and move on to better things. Finishing with 17 points and a -19 on a struggling platoon team, Dean looks to the IIHF as chance to do better with new players. The team hopes to see some improvement from his play if they really want to be a team with deadly depth this tournament.

Aizstāvji

Kristaps Ball TPE: 1239  Barracuda

One of the best defenders in the league, @jcfbey01 is the ideal leader for Latvia's defense. While just sneaking into the playoffs, Ball finished with 40 points and lead his team in assists, shots blocked and minutes played. There really is nothing this defender cannot do and Latvia always loves to see him wear their colours on his IIHF jersey.

Nat Emerson TPE: 1203  Platoon

@Thelastheraclid really made the best of what was a struggling platoon team. Finishing with 17 points, the highest shooting percentage and the second most hits and plus minus, not too bad for a player from S45. Latvia hopes to see Nat's continued success carry over into the tournament as big minutes are to be expected.

Maui TPE: 989  Barracuda

@UncleLeosKomrade was the third best defense men for Tampa bay. Finishing with 14 points and 49 blocked shots, Maui hopes to bring the success to his country that he was unable to bring to the Barracuda as they were swept in the first round of the playoffs.

Kaspars Claude TPE: 984  Specters

The rookie @Bruins10 really impressed the SHL this year. Finishing with 26 points and playing over 1000 minutes, it is clear that Kaspars will be a big factor in this teams defensive play. The young gun hopes to aid Nat and Ball in leading this team back end as all of them want to see their country bring home the gold.

Vārtsargs

Billy Sorokin TPE: 517  syndicate

Being inactive is unfortunate, however being Chicago's backup and finishing with a .910 SV% and 2.75 GAA is not all too bad. Here is hoping Billy can handle the international spotlight as he is most likely to suit up for team Latvia.

Well ladies and gentlemen there you have it, your S51 IIHF Latvian roster. Good luck to all the countries and let the tournament begin Cheers
