S51 WJC Sweden Roster
#1

Good afternoon! Sweden is very excited to compete in the World Junior Championship and we have selected a great group of guys to go for gold! After a tough selection process between myself and @CementHands, this is the final roster who will be competing in the tournament.

This roster is listed in ascending order of the number the player has been issued to wear for Sweden for the tourney.

#2 D Ulrik Bergstrom @Wiad: Bergstrom is a S52 draftee who had a great first season with his team Anchorage. The #8 overall pick in the SMJHL draft last year, Bergstrom joined a great Anchorage team that won the SMJHL championship. The two-way defenseman is great at both ends and a great contributor to team success wherever he plays.

#3 F Henrik Lekberg Osterman @Thatguy91: Fans who have followed Team Sweden internationally know Osterman very well. A core contributor on and off the ice, expect Osterman to make a big impact in this tournament. Osterman brings experience and talent to a great forward group.

#5 D Sven Yxskaft @kenvald: Another two-way defenseman from the S52 draft class, Yxskaft was taken 14th overall by Vancouver in the S51 SMJHL draft. For Vancouver this season, Yxskaft had 9 points and was a +11, impressive for a rookie defenseman in the SMJHL.

#8 F Bjornoson Bjornosonson @HyperboleJoe: Bjornosonson is a S51 draft class forward who is know for being a playmaker. Look for him as a center who can make plays and drive possession. This 6 foot 2 inches forward is also big enough to handle himself in scrums if needed.

#10 F Sven Svenson @LordBirdman: Our first S53 player, Svenson is a young forward about to be drafted in the SMJHL. An offensive forward, his passing and shooting skills already are getting the attention of teams all across North America. Time will tell how the young forward will develop, but the future looks very bright for him, and this tournament is a chance to show the world a taste of what he is capable of.

#13 F Niklas Fuhrberg @Confusion: Another experienced veteran, Fuhrberg is a big presence on the ice and looks to continue doing that in this tournament. At 6'4" Fuhrberg loves to play the body as a true power forward. If you have the puck on another team when he's on the ice, look out!

#14 F Joko Draz @BestEskimo: The second S53 player, Draz is billed as a playmaker center. Many scouts see a lot of Bjornoson Bjornosonson in him, and the potential is there for him to follow in the fellow Swede's footsteps.

#16 D Yompy Stearf @ham: Another S53 prospect, defenseman Yompy Stearf is one of the better defensive prospects seen in a while. Already he is seen as a capable defender on the back end, though his offense has yet to come along. For a defensive defenseman, that surely is a great problem to have.

#17 D Zlatan Ibrahimovic Jr. @soulja: The original Swedish two-way defenseman, Ibrahimovic's success has seemed to inspire the glut behind him of similar prospects. Once again, look for Ibrahimovic Jr. to be a leader on the team on and off the ice.

#21 F Marcus Ohlsson @CleverPin: A S50 prospect, Ohlsson has made a name for himself as a playmaker winger. He will look to continue doing so this tournament, and with some of the other talent up front could help make for a dangerous group.

#25 F Jake Primeau @rangersbruinslightning: One of our oldest players (S49), Primeau looks to once again join and lead our team to glory! Primeau probably has the best shot on the team, and as a center will be joined by capable wingers to make the most out of his skill in this tournament.

#26 D Noah Nystrom @LightningDragon: Nystrom is a S52 defenseman coming off an impressive rookie season. He was at the top or near the top of his team in categories such as shots blocked, +/-, and hits. A physical two-way defenseman, look for Nystrom to help push play and possession in this tournament.

#30 F Henrik Lundqvist Jr. @FreakinAnime: One of the fastest developing Swedish forwards in memory, Lundqvist has gone from a S51 prospect to a force on whatever team he is apart of. Look for the playmaking forward to be a top player on the team helping us go for gold!

#31 G Cillian Kavanagh @takethehorizon: Our first goalie on the list is a loan from the UK/Ireland team. Kavanagh is a S52 draftee who has shown great potential in his rookie season playing in the SMJHL for the Kelowna Knights in a backup capacity.

#33 D Erik Johansson @woelker11: This young S53 defenseman continues the trend where Sweden will have lots of younger prospects in this tournament, especially on defense. Johansson is a defensive defenseman, and has shown lots of potential for a player in that category so far.

#35 F Gylfi Eriksson @pazuzu15: An experienced forward, Eriksson has shown much skill since being drafted in S49 to the SMJHL. A playmaking forward, he will join some talented players of the same type on a great team.

#39 G Alexander Thorstrom @Jesster: The only eligible Swedish born goalie, Thorstrom is a talented butterfly goalie who will, with Kavanagh, look to make sure no puck from other teams get to the back of the net.

#53 F Karl Krashwagen @CementHands: Krashwagen is another experienced, talented two-way forward. What makes him stand out, however, is his shot. Rivaling anyone on this team, Primeau included, his shot is what sets Krashwagen apart from the other talented two-way forwards on the team, and will be an incredibly useful asset in this tournament.

#67 F Viktor Erlingsson @zengir: Another S53 forward, Erlingsson is a two-way forward whose biggest asset right now is his offense. Both in terms of his playmaking ability and shooting ability, Erlingsson has shown some great skills on offense in pre-SMJHL play.

#69 F Jastik JanÖrksson @badsleepover: A S49 forward, Janorsksson hasn't developed quite as well as some of the other S49 prospects. However, he still is eligible and will be a key veteran voice to lead along the younger players on the team.

#81 D Magnus Lilijestrom @roastpuff: Did I mention the Sweden defense is a young talented group? This S53 defenseman has also showed a lot of potential, and looks to be another impactful two-way defender on the team.

#96 F Axel Caderoth @caderoth: Another veteran forward for the team, Caderoth hasn't shown quite as much talent as some of his fellow S50 draftee class, but still has a chance to show something here.

In addition, for this tournament Team Sweden has decided to name captains and alternates for the tournament.

C - Jake Primeau
A - Zlatan Ibrahimovic Jr.
A - Henrik Lekberg Osterman

Congrats to all who made the team and to our captains and alternates! Let's have a great tournament guys! Sweden
