A S50 lookback two seasons in

A S50 lookback two seasons in.

We just had the S52 entry draft happen last weekend, this means it is a good time to see how the prospects of the seasons ago are doing in terms of TPE earning and which prospects would be in the first round if the draft happened this season.

Adam Barron - 717 TPE

Selected first overall in the S50 Entry Draft, Adam Barron keeps showing why he went first overall, still at the top of the prospects by just a slight margin he continues to impress. The Winnipeg Jets have made a great pick with this future franchise defenseman

Ryan Shepard - 714 TPE

At the time of the draft many people had Shepard going first overall. As another first gen player like Barron, he made quite an impression with his activity and interaction on the site. During the draft he slipped to the fifth overall position to the Chicago Syndicate, they didn’t have to hesitate to pick up Shepard and he’s paying back their faith with him rising to the second overall position of all the draftees

Bobby Lane - 713 TPE

Another stable factor in the rankings is Bobby Lane, drafted fourth overall to the Toronto North Stars he actually rises to the third spot, following both Barron and Shepard closely. Lane will be an important prospect for years to come.

Samuel Michaud - 707 TPE

The first big riser in the draft is Samuel Michaud, he was originally drafted 18th overall by the Hamilton Steelhawks and he is the last of the prospects that are currently in the 700+ TPE. Rising 14 spots while being drafted at 18th, they won’t come much better than that.

Akira Ren - 696 TPE

Originally drafted at 69 overall, yeah it is no real shock that Akira has risen as he was already one of the top earners of this draft. As a GM pick you can’t say much about rising as it’s not like others ahd a chance to pick him up.

Phineas Gold - 694 TPE

Another player that made a nice jump upwards is Phineas Gold, going from 14th overall to the Rage as number 6 in his draft class. Sure there will always be others that have risen more, but Gold is certainly another first gen player that looks like a golden pick.

Aron Hernadivic - 687 TPE

The Buffalo Stampede also made quite a steal, with their 21st overall pick they managed to pick up a player that would be in the top 10 earners of the draft. Aron Hernadivic has made quite a jump in the rankings and shows great potential.

Bjorn Leppanen - 680 TPE

Also one of the bigger jumps in the draft, going from 31st overall to 8th overall is Bjorn Leppanen. Texas being the team that noticed his potential makes you wonder if the other teams were sleeping while doing their scouting. That is an impressive jump.

Augustus Wang - 679 TPE

Augustus was drafted 6th overall so he does drop some spots, but nothing to be ashamed off in a strong draft class as this one. Another pick by the Buffalo Stampede that remains in the top 10, making them them one of the only two teams in the top 10 with two draftees. Even when your drafted in the 1st round, you still need to proof to the world you belong there, and with staying in the top 10 Wang certainly did.

Daniel Bischoff - 671 TPE

Risen from 34 to 10 he is actually the biggest jumper in the top 10, but this might have something to do with his spammy attitude in the discord locker rooms. The Dragons didn’t mind this behaviour and are rewarded with a great processing player.

Luca Veccelli - 669 TPE
The numbers from 10 to 14 are all pretty close, so Veccelli was just 2 points away of jumpoing strait in the top 10. This makes him the highest rated prospect for the San Francisco Pride, something that probably no one had expected with a player like Henrik Lekberg Osterman in the same draft class.

Ivan Maximus - 667 TPE

The thief of cheese has dropped from 2 out of 10, but he was mostly picked there by the Renegades for his dashing good looks. With the entire draft class still being within 50 tpe from eachother at this point, it is nothing to be ashamed about. He is still around and active and will be a great pick going forward for Texas.

Vorian Atreides - 667 TPE

Our first shared position in terms of TPE ranking is Vorian Atreides, who was drafted 8th overall by the Los Angeles Panthers. While he is also trending downwards, it was something that they would expect as an older player, usually they have slightly less energy as the first gen players that have not burned out yet. Atreides however is still going strong and has made his non impressive playoff debut for the Panthers last season.

Alex Rykov - 665 TPE
Rykov is a rather solid pick for its position. Drafted 12th and now ranked 14th. So not much change in his position, showing the Dragons got good value for their pick, despite him dropping two places overall.

Disisde Dayudie - 635 TPE

Dayudie was the 7th overall pick for the Panthers and has dropped some spots since, most likely since he visits his home country so frequently that he lacks money to buy his own equipment. He will remain down in the minors for next season due to how stacked the Panthers defense is for the moment. He will still be a great piece for their future.

Henrik Lekberg Osterman - 628 TPE

Probably my favourite member of the draft and long time teammate in Colorado, this guy is really a gem and it’s a shame he got a bit behind on the top of the class, as he went 3rd overall in the actual draft. It was mainly his presence and positive attitude that skyrocketed him into 3rd as many had him as a mid to late first rounder. I’m glad to see him still being in the first round in terms of TPE and hope he will remain a member in the SHL for a long time.

I could have continued this article further, but decided to just keep it to the first round. To all prospects that nearly missed out on the list. Markus Tegernako for instance missed out on the first round by just two TPE. But also people like Thomas Vanice who was selected 51st and is now in the top 30 is a nice riser in the draft. To all these prospects, keep working hard and you might future in this list in the future.

we posted identical articles 6 minutes apart, I just did the same thing for the S49 class, what are the odds.

Great read though! A lot of great young guns in this class that are gonna be huge impact players as they develop, some of them are already there
