The pick-em leagues are flying along now that the season is underway, and I’m happy to announce that between the SHL and SMJHL versions there was over 40 sign-ups. I hoped for more but the ones I have are enjoying the league, even if they aren’t in the lead so far. If you aren’t participating, look forward to it next season. The SHL pick-em is a 250K sign-up and the SMJHL is a 100K Sign-up with the pot split between the top 3.
That being said, we’ve had 11 games played for each so far and we’re going to take a look at the leaderboards and best/worst picks by some of the members. First, the SHL Pick-em league. Here’s the top of the board as of the Tuesday 2/11 sim: @DollarAndADream - 9 Points @RedCapeDiver - 8 Points @Katth - 7 Points @BDonini - 7 Points Now the SHL leaderboard is on the lower side for points. Many teams have been upsetting some of the favorite picks which has lowered the number of points, but have evened out overall as many players have been missing the picks together, though some have made up the points on correct score picks. What is also interesting is there are seven players with 6 points and an additional five players with 5 points, leaving them just a few out of the top spots. Just a reminder than getting both the game and score right is worth three points so there is a chance that a bit of luck could put you in the top spots in a single game, so pick smart! As for the SMJHL Pick-em League, here is where we stand as of the Tuesday 2/11 sim: @Naosu - 11 Points @Ace - 10 Points @Ferda - 9 Points @Mutedfaith - 8 Points @chirpchirp - 8 Points What stands out to me first of all is that Naosu started a day late in the league, missing the first sim of the season, but still managed to put up and impressive 9 points in the first week, getting 2 games and their scores correct, rocketing him into the lead. This proves that even when you think you’re out, you're not. So keep at it, anything can happen. Next, we have three more players with 7 points and 4 more with 6 points. They are not out of the race yet, and several players are below this mark but a little luck could find them sneaking in. Don’t give up hope. Finally, I’d like to point out that for the SHL league there is a 5.5 million pot on the line, split 60-25-15 between the top 3 players at the end. For the SMJHL league the pot is 2.3 million, as the buy-in is lower, however the pot is still sizable, especially if you are a rookie, new member, or just don’t have a large bank account to work with. I’d like to thank everyone for sticking with the Casino season after season. I know my schedule has been crazy personally and I’m working with @Grum to make sure we stay on top of things and bring everyone the best betting entertainment in all of simulated sports.
