Detroit Playoffs Round 2
#1

Detroit came in as the number one overall seed and thus enjoyed a bye in the first round while they awaited their Round 2 opponent.  After defeating the Anchorage Armada, the 8th seeded Newfoundland Berserkers would be the team heading to Detroit for a second round clash.  With the team rested and ready to go, Detroit was ready to get started with some playoff hockey.  Expectations were high in hockeytown USA that this will be the year that they bring home the cup.  There is no harder championship to win than hockey due to the physical nature of the sport along with the grueling length of the season.  Fortunately, Detroit got a little rest with their bye.

Another crushing defeat for Newfoundland, this time in front of their home fans.  Detroit surrendered a short handed goal midway through the second period which gave the home team some hope that they could get right back in this series.  Unfortunately, it was not to be.  Detroit scored on their next power play a few minutes later and did not take their foot off of the pedal from that point forward.  Now with a 3 to 0 lead in the series, Detroit will be looking for the sweep and and a ticket to the third round.

The brooms are out for Detroit as they managed to hold off a hard charging Newfoundland team for the sweep of their second round series.  It was a tie game late into the third period before Detroit scored two late goals to take the lead for good.  It was a strong effort for the number one seed as they await their round three opponent on their road to the cup.
