As the co-gm of the San Francisco Pride I have been working on this project in my free time to recognize some outstanding individuals on the team and make sure that they get the recognition they deserve, both from the team and from the SHL community at large.

I am happy to be presenting the San Francisco Pride three stars of the regular season. My methodology for the three stars is as follows – I will be going through every game for the year and tallying up the three stars from those games. A first star is worth three points, a second star is worth two points, and a third star is worth one point. Whichever three players have the first, second, and third most points will be awarded the first, second, and third star of the season, respectively.

Coming in as the first star of the season, with twenty-nine points – Steven Moyer! Moyer lead the Pride in total points as well as being top ten in the entire league for both goals and assists, the only San Francisco player to appear on both lists. Moyer was putting up nearly a point per period, had four game winners and two game tying goals.

The second star of the season, with twenty-eight points – Jeff Brogen! Brogen lead both the San Francisco Pride and the entire SHL in goals with twenty-seven goals while shooting a blistering 13.92%. Brogen had the most game winning goals for the Pride with five, and even as a winger had a face-off percentage of nearly 53%.

Brogen accrued more total stars of the game than Moyer, but Moyer winning first star of the game more often than Brogen tipped the scales in his favor.

In an unprecedented move that I probably should have seen coming the minute I started out on this project, there is a tie for the third star of the season. Both Piotr Czerkawski and Ray Bork earned nineteen points under my three star system, so both of them will be winners of the Pride’s third star of the season.

Czerkawski and Bork both had spectacular seasons. Piotr getting forty points and Bork getting thirty-seven. Czerkawski lead the team in hits with 167 hits, thirty more than the second place hitter. Bork’s sixty-six blocked shots is good for second on the Pride.

Congratulations to all four winners of the three stars of the year awards! @CanadianDuck @Flowseidon @majesiu @tweedledunn

The final breakdown of all players who received star honors throughout the season and how many points they earned under my above system is below:

Steven Moyer – 29 points
