SHJN: 3 Stars of the Week - Season 53 Week 1
#1

**513 words**

Hello and welcome to this, the first ever regular season 3 stars of the week of the SMJHL reported to you by the Simulation Junior League Network! It’s been a thunderous and frantic first week in the Junior league, with the Western Conference turning into a brutal fight between starving wolves and the Eastern teams basically praying to whatever god will listen that they can somehow stop the flight of the Falcons. The committee has handed in their votes and the results are concluded. These 3 players have stood out in week one of the season.

1st Star: Edward Williams - Detroit Falcons

In a twist that surprises absolutely no one to the point where it could feature in an M.Night Shyamalan film, the man who leads the most dominant team in the Junior league gets the 1st star of the week. While it is obvious, there is no denying Edward Williams that honour, having already established a four point lead in points over his nearest rival and gaining a total of 18 points in 12 games. That’s an average of 1.5 points a game which in any professional league is insane. No matter what situation he is in, Edwards is a force to be reckoned with that looks to continue his hot start. Detroit has been practically unstoppable this season and looked to win all 12 games to start the season until those plucky upstarts in Anchorage ruined the perfect season with a dramatic shootout win. Speaking of the Armada…

2nd Star: Mitchell van der Heijden - Anchorage Armada

The captain of the Armada has picked up right where he left off in the preseason and leads Anchorage in goals and points, with 7 goals, 7 assists and 14 points in total. After a shockingly bad start to the season for Anchorage, van der Heijden has led his young Armada team on a run of consistently excellent performances that puts the Armada at the top of the Western Conference with a record of 7-4-1. His habit for scoring timely goals has propelled Anchorage's recent form and he continues to push his men harder and to be better on every play. You can tell it every time he skates that he wants to win another four star cup and after toppling the seemingly unstoppable Detroit, the Armada might have the best chance right now.

3rd Star: Elizabeth Doyle - St Louis Scarecrows

The goalie that has led the charge for the St Louis Scarecrows, there is only one word that describes Elizabeth Doyle this week. Exceptional. She is the main reason why St Louis is deep in the dog fight for 2nd place in the Eastern Conference and if she keeps up her play, she might just keep them there. With a .941 Save Percentage, 1.73 Goals Allowed Average and already recording 2 shutouts, there is no deny just who leads this scarecrows team. St Louis is a team led by its defence and without a shadow of a doubt, Elizabeth Doyle is the foundation on which the Scarecrows are building their season.
