Berserkers  Newfoundland Beserkers vs. St. Louis Scarecrow  Scarecrows

Final Score: 3-2

This game would be different for the Scarecrows if only they had a brain.

First Period- In a game that had largely been dominated by the Newfoundland Berserkers, St. Louis' Ruslan Zaporozhets coughed the puck up to Tinke Jutila in the Scarecrows offensive zone. Jutila led the break out by passing the puck over to Mattias Birdstrom. Birdstrom dished the puck to Lucifer Morningstar. Morningstar relays the puck to Kierkegaard who finds Jukka Timonen outracing the defense. Jukka Timonen put the moves on Elizabeth Doyle. Doyle got a piece of the puck but not enough to stop it from crossing the goal line for a 1-0 lead for the Berserkers with 5 minutes and 9 seconds left in the first period. After the goal, St. Louis was finally gaining momentum, only to be cut short by the end of the period buzzer.

Second Period- The momentum for the Scarecrows continued into the start of the second period. In a scarecrow zone clearing dump by Travor Johnson. Kriss Darzins beats PBJ Souppan to the puck by a step then beat Amundsen on a low slow roller. St. Louis now with big Mo on their side continued to have great possession. Most of the second period was played in the Newfoundland defensive zone, with exception from a few missed passes to the blue line that go the full length of the ice, until Sasha Dangelchek in the high slot passed to Danny Marston in the corner. Danny Marston then rifled a pass to William Lockwood in the slot who redirected the puck pass Cale Amundsen for his First Career Goal with just under 10 minutes remaining in the second period!!! St. Louis is able to keep the heat on until a set of tripping penalties killed the Scarecrows' momentum; one by Jericson, one by Flash Gordon. Doyle wass able to stave off the pressure of the Berserkers powerplay until Nicco Livius was able to score on a wrap around with 55 seconds left in the second period.  The game was even at 2 goals.

Third Period- The Scarecrows looked like they had recovered from a shaky end to the second period getting established in the offensive zone having decent opportunities left and right. Until Kriss Darzins got caught for slashing. The Berserkers took quick advantage. A pass from Red Arrow to Guy LeGrande, high in the slot. Guy LeGrande let it rip! Beating Doyle . Newfoundland's powerplay once again produced. With under fifteen minutes left in the third period St. Louis controlled the third period at even strength, only to be denied by Cale Amundsen and their own undisciplined penalties. The game concluded 3-2 with Newfoundland Berserkers the victors.

Three Stars:
First Star of the Game: Berserkers Jukka Timonen- 1 goal, 29:09 time on ice, most in the game
Second Star of the Game:  Scarecrows Mega Tron- 1 assist, 1 hit, 3 takeaways
Third Star of the Game: Berserkers  Lucifer Morningstar-1 assist, 1 takeaway

Game Difference
An evenly matched affair between these two teams who have but 3 points difference in the standings and trying desperately to keep pace with the Detroit Falcons who have a strangle hold on te top spot of the Eastern Conference.  The Scarecrows came out hitting in this one, as they nearly double up on their rivals 20 to 11, not the only stat they dominated, as we see Crows centerman had the edge on this night winning 35 of 59 faceoffs, thats almost 60% success rate.  But the difference maker was the repeated giveaways (10) and the lack of discipline.  The Berserkers seemed to have their numbers on that one, as they ended the contest going 2 for 9 on the power play.  The game winner coming off the stick of rookie LeGrande with the man advatage just over 5 minutes intothe 3rd period.  The Scarecrows then playing catch up hockey kept picking up bad penalties and utterly cost them the game.

Jukka Timonen Under investigation of having Work Horse DNA

After what was an almost 30 minute night for the youngster many of the teams critics have started to dig into his past to figure out how this young player can continually eat up minutes like the blue muppet does cookies. Some reports have been circling about Timonens home life growing up and living 'out in the country' with his families prized, top of the line horse breeding program. Now many might let this get out of hand fast, but many are looking at some of the 'immunization' shots he took outside of the government sanctioned medicial records system. One thing is for sure, this prospects legs seem to be the size of tree trunks as he eats up any TOI the coach wants to throw at him....next week, Jukka, part groot?

First Pairing
Whats there to say to the start of the Berserkers first pairing defenseman?  This team has a remarkable young veteran and rookie tandem playing huge minutes for them on the ice.  Jukka Timonen averages over 27 minutes a night while his rookie partner Tinke Jutila is no slouch who also plays close to 24 minutes himself.  The two together seem to complement each others game and we see it in tonight's win over a strong Scarecrow team.  Timonen has not only taken over this hockey club on his shoulders but has also taken the rookie Jutila under his wing.

Second Star Effort
The second star of the game belonged Mega Tron and why not!  He and his line mates Danny Marston and Ruslan Zaporozhets brought their "A" game tonight.  The line featured about 8 scoring chances that I saw looking through the boxscore.  Mega Tron was dynamite, with one assist, the third of this season on a goal by defenseman Kriss Darzins.  He also three takeaways in this game,  Mega Tron was relentless on the puck, countless battles won along the boards and freeing up space for his line mates.  Had himself quite the game and is recognized with the 2nd star rating for this game.
