S54 SMJHL Earlybird PT - Star Prospect

If there is one thing that that Lonnie O'Donoghue is good at its his on ice vision. A lot of people describe his awareness of that to someone playing an ice hockey video game viewing the ice from the birds eye view. Lonnie really hopes that he can carry this skill over to his SMJHL and eventual SHL career!

At only 6'2, Peter Ramsay is considered to be a small goalie, even for junior hockey. However the lack of size of the young netminder does not matter too much, as his ability to recover his after a shot is second to none. That '6th sense' of where to be after a shot comes at him is what makes him stand out amongst this goalie class.

James Hagan has several main strengths, but the mainest of the main strengths would have to be his ability to get open and his willingness to get in the dirty areas and work. His ability to get open is unmatched - he can slip away from defenders like he’s Teflon Don. And his work ethic in dirty areas is better than a hooker in a back alley at 3am

Pavel Kharlamov is a boom or bust prospect looking to join a SMJHL team in the upcoming draft. His biggest asset is his shot and his ability to get open. Kharlamov has both a quick release and a hard shot which makes him a tough sniper to cover, mix that with the ability to magically find open ice and you get a potential game breaking goal scorer.

Daniil Nikiforov is the next great SHL Russian. He follows in the footsteps of greats and will be the steal of the S54 SMJHL draft. He comes into the league with an extremely keen eye for passing and great offensive instincts. Recent articles have spoke in a negative way about the young Russian center's speed. While his top end speed is nothing to write home about - his acceleration is miles above most in the class. He is able to accelerate around players and create space quickly. He just will not fly down the ice like some of players. The most important part of Nikiforov's game comes from his ability to quickly read offensive situations and make the right decisions. Something that is natural to some players and a struggle for others. Watch out for his impact!

Well Chris Goodname has been noted as very dangerous improvement (in both meanings).

His hockey IQ and vision is beyond level of players of his age. For defenceman it is big aspect. He has very signature style of play. In defesive zone he plays calm and mainly positionally. He loves to start and join offense because his natural speed. With improved SHL coaches he could be lightning quick both ways. Interesting are his offensive skills. He owns strong and accurate wrist shot. He usually joins attack and does shot by cover of enemy defenceman and always aims over shoulders of goalie. That is his signature move. Also that works well on him. Risky play should be con but he executes it as a pros.

Lord Raiden is a big body center that gets in front of the net and excels at screening and causes all sorts of issues for goalies. He is an elite faceoff center as well. If your team needs to win a faceoff. He is the guy you want taking it. He is looking at refining his offensive skills and improving the defensive parts of his game to make him a better overall team player.

Kolja Kekkonen's strengths are his on-ice vision and his ability to separate the puck from his opponent. Opposing forwards find it nearly impossible to beat Kekkonen in a foot race, and it is equally rare for them to beat him on the inside. Kekkonen takes smart angles and effectively nullifies scoring chances on a regular basis.

junior guarda is second best at everything. thanks to this he will be the best backup goalie of all time. many goalies get mad about being backup. he is used to it. overall, he does everything pretty well, but excels at coming in games that are out of hand, continuing to get lit up, and being fine with it.

Adrik Baranov has more then a few strengths. The 6,2 Russian defender is an absolute physical beast for a young prospect with enough speed to outpace almost anyone off the jump. With his physical prowess, he has honed a style of play in which he takes the puck up the ice all on his own, hoping to score or at least pass the puck off to an open man. While he has been accused of being a ‘winger on defence’ he knows that the doubters will be silenced when they see the results in the form of goals whenever he is on the ice. Who needs to defend in your own zone when the puck is always going the other way?

What's there to say about Cody Spinka. He's got plenty of strengths up his sleeve but the best ones would be that he's a fast thinker and able to get open for that pass to put it into the net. Will it go in? Of course it will! With his accuracy he's ready for that hat trick every game. He's not much of a fighter but that's because he'd rather have his team win then get put into the box, but lets be honest, if he was to get into a fight...he wouldn't be the one ending up on the ice floor.

Speed kills. Comin down the mountains. Speed kills. Comin down the street. Speed kills. Its a presence of mind yeah. Speed kills if ya know what I mean.

Juan Hunna-Pussent is all about going fast on the ice. He can flip the light switch and be under the covers before it gets dark. On offense he is an absolute terror flying around the ice, impossible to keep track of for any one defender. Even a zone is pushed to the limits trying to account for him while he's whizzing around like a sexy smart hurricane. On defense, he's never actually beat no matter what position or angle you think you have. And right when you think you've got a plan, he's gonna pokey pokey that puck right out of your grasp with expert timing (HA!) and before you realize it, he's gone flying down the ice the other way and you're left behind and you've shit your pants. You should get that last part looked at by the way. It could be medical or perhaps a dietary issue but you should probably take care of it sooner rather than later.

Juan Hunna-Pussent's speed is his greatest strength by far but don't let that give you any wrongheaded ideas. A recent draft scout noted bitterly that he didn't really have any real weaknesses on the ice and that he might be in fact, too physical. In hockey. So there you go. Even beyond his  greatest strength, he's just a great all around player with nearly unlimited potential.

“America is all about speed. Hot, nasty, badass speed.”

Wow well talking about the strengths of my player Stan Q Next is pretty easy because he is such a strong guy and he is a great athlete. He's going to be the strongest center in the league and he has great passing vision and he is a known proven winner having already won in the J by winning the title with Detroit and he has intangibles and the tangibles and the greatest player in the draft class with strong speed and passing.

Ivan Victory has been working his entire career for this moment. Idolizing players like Brent Burns, Chris Pronger, Dan Boyle and other offensive minded defense, his skills show just that. Balanced on both ends of the ice, he knows when to make the quick plays, and isn't afraid to take the risks to make sure the team gets a scoring chance. A big man, especially by Finnish standards, he's out there giving all he can every shift. He's not scared to play the big minutes either.
