S54 WFT #2 - Family Rivalry
#31

The two Horvat brothers have always had a rivalry being one is a forward, and the other is a defenseman. The only real reason it never go really intense is the age gap between the two. Dont let that fool you though, there is a ton of trash talk during the holidays.

Mattias Holmberg may not have had any siblings, but who is to stay the Swedish defensemen doesn't start a family of his own. After finishing his SHL career in the early S40s, Holmberg now has plenty of time to focus on life past playing hockey. This means we could see another Holmberg float into the league if he has the ability his father had.

I recently did a media on this but from Season 19 Jon's dad was an SHL player called Isaac Mute but left to join a cult which he eventually found Jon's mother in. Since then he has been raised to be the cult's chosen player to bring success back to them.

Mika does not have any siblings. Growing up in Siberia without any siblings meant that he had to rely on his friends for social interaction. He'd have to travel out to the outdoor rink to meet the boys and get a game of hockey going with them. Otherwise he was just helping out his parents around the house, just trying to make it in a harsh environment.

Lyle does not have any siblings, so when Lyle was a kid, he didn't have anyone to constantly compete against.  But what Lyle does have, is a grandfather who played several seasons in the NHL and winning the Stanley Cup with Montreal Canadiens.  So when it comes to family rivalry, Lyle is constantly measuring himself against his grandfathers accomplishments.  The first one that he has already bettered was his first professional goal.  It took the original Lyle 92 games in the NHL to score his first, a beauty end to end hightlight reel goal, arguably the best of his career.  Lyle didn't have to wait quite as long, he scored his first SHL goal 49 games into his career.  He is currently working on his next accomplishment, and hopes to do it this season by raising the Challenge Cup, just like his grandfather did with Lord Stanley.

A lot of great hockey families here in SHL, but gotta go with the @Wongy family their contributions to the Dragons dynasty, helping us win 3 cups with Hunter (the greatest of all the Wong's) and his siblings we're decent too. 6 total cups is very impressive. Respect to the Aittokallio's also.

Cassius Darrow has a younger sister, Hanna, which he's discussed before. She has never so much as put on a pair of skates in her life, and has no athletic experiences of note. Regardless, Cassius is very close with his sister, who lives back home in Germany with their mother. She has come to visit him in North America a few times, but more often than not Cassius travels to visit them back in the homeland. There has never been any sort of "sibling rivalry" between them; it was never needed or necessary. Both are hard workers who unconditionally love each other--a bit odd, as most siblings fight at least occasionally. Not Cassius and Hanna.

Strom is the youngest of three in his family.  Neither of his siblings garnered any interest in sports, let alone hockey.  Fortunately though, his brothers child (nephew) is in the youth system as a defenseman.  Despite his best efforts though in trying to win his nephew into the Anaheim and Winnipeg fan base....but for whatever reason he's still hooked on the Midwest teams of the Scarecrows and Syndicate.

Vítek Víteček never had any siblings. When he was growing up he always wanted to have a twin to play hockey with. He wanted to make hall of fame with his twin. Too bad. It will never happen.

Jimmy Slothface is an only child. He often was a bit of a loner so he would spend a lot of time daydreaming what it would be like to have a sibling to play with. As he grew up a bit that went away quickly, especially after meeting good friends and teammates in his hockey career. If Jimmy were to have a sibling he would want them to be like some of his great teammates, Perry Morgan, Dom Montgomery, Michael Fox.... I never should have started naming names I could go on forever.

Alexander is one of three children, but neither of his siblings were ever good at hockey. Luckily, he had a couple of neighbors who played, so he had people to skate with on the nearby pond during the winter.

The upcoming Cameron Carter family will be the greatest dynasty the SHL has ever seen. I am anticipating at least 5 of the Cameron Carter kids, named Cameron Carter III through VIII, to pop up at the S69 draft and absolutely destroy the league. You think the Smebs have good coordination? It won't even come close to what the Cameron Carters will be capable of.

Bo Kane doesn’t have any siblings but he wishes he did. He always was playing road hockey by himself when his friends weren’t able so it would’ve been nice to have someone else.

You can never make the wrong choice with conversations like these, but you can make the WONG choice, which is why the only answer is the Wong family. Not only having one of the best users behind them, but also having as many accolades as they is a slam dunk for the best family in SHL history, and as long as they keep appearing it will continue to be the Sutter level franchise DNA of this league.

Anders has a big brother who is two years older than him and they have a good relationship, they speak at least once a week. They both are competitive and during the summer when Anders go back home in Norway they usually race to the top of mountains to see who will get there first.
