S54 WFT #2 - Family Rivalry

I have twin siblings who also play hockey. They are a bit younger, but there are two of them so I must be one of the very few big brothers who was actully always losing the fight against his younger siblings.

Darzins have siblings, he have brother named Janis. He's only 5 years old but he also plays hockey. Of course he's very young but I think that he will be a good hockey player in future and maybe he would play here, too. Darzins have good relationship with him.

Dwight Knight is from a classic Irish Catholic farming family. So you better believe I have some brothers and sisters, or as Ma and Pa call us, free manual labor. There's Aiden, Breeda, Barry, Cael, Boyd, Derry, Fynn, Kevin, Oscar and Sloan. They don't play hockey seriously. Just random pick-up games when the locks get frozen over.

Jack Kanoff may be one of the brightest stars in the SMJHL today but the scary part is that he may not even be the best player in his family. His cousin, Jack Goff has been instrumental in Canada's U17 International Tournaments and his elite stick handling and crazy shooting accuracy are second to none. If the thought of Jack Kanoff making the SHL scares you...Be warned

Nour is pretty hot ngl

It pains me to say this, but the McZehrl family without a doubt has to be the SHL's best family in the history of the league. The league awards and championships are more then enough to make that argument, but then you look at the IIHF statistics and it's not even close. That family is lightyears ahead of any other hockey family in the league. That's until the Kennedy family steps it up that is.

My player has a younger brother who plays baseball. Maybe he'll make it to PBE one day but probably not because he's lazy and scouts say he's not very good.

Aumy Jr. is 18 years old hockey player from Finland. He haves hockey in his blood and that's just a straight fact. He have step brother Anrijs Asts which plays in the same team as Aumy Jr. They both play as defenders in Colorado Raptors team. They even play in the same line. They have pretty good family type relationship. They meet sometimes, play some video games, but basically - meets only at trainings.

Of course, as all brothers - they have friendly competition aswell. They are in ame line and of course - there are rivalry as always. Who will get more points, who will play better and more. Of course, it's friendly brothers rivalry, but it's still a rivalry, right? It's alway fun to try to be the best.

Aumy Jr. has already little brother who is only 7 years old and plays hockey in Finland. It's already official that he will join SHL after hitting 18 years mark. He will continue his family traditions and play hockey a a profesional. That will probably happen only when Aumy Jr. will retire, so they will not have an opportunity to play together. But imagine if that would happen.

Of course, we can't forget that father of Aumy Jr. played hockey in SHL aswell. He played almost 1000 games in total in SHL and he had a decent career. Right now, he is hockey coach for his smallest kid's team. Meanwhile Aumy Jr. and Anrijs Asts are playing at the same time and both have already talked that would be cool to spend whole career in the same team. Only time will show if something will change or not.

The best family in the league in the Tuck family because it included Er and Muford and probably some others. Also because one side of the family might have some secret families that nobody in the main family knows about so there might be even more accolades one could attribute to them.

.

It has to be the McZerhl family, right?  They have the 6 Challenge Cups that the other forerunners have, but 7 1st all stars is really hard to beat along with all of the Mexico wins, 4 Karpotsovs and 5 McDonalds.

Sutton is an only child and was always pretty content with that. It meant that he always had the sole focus of his parents and never had to worry about scheduling conflicts for practice or games. Although, maybe if he had a brother to compete against it would have brought out the best in him sooner and he would be a better player today.

Matt Kholin has one brother from another mother that looked promising a few years ago in the NSFL, but unfortunately his work ethic was lacking and he retired before knowing he was drafted. It leaves Kholin the only active pro athlete in the family, and hopefully he can redeem the family name once he retires in the SHL.

Based on the numbers, I would have to say the McZherl family has been one of, if not the best in SHL history. When looking at the accolades collected over the years from multiple players, you can see how successful they’ve been. This also doesn’t seem to include any IIHF accolades, which I’m sure would further strengthen their position among the SHL’s best.

Scoochie was unfortunately an only child but surprisingly enough, no one had even touched a hockey stick in his family before. It was actually his grandfather that was a massive hockey fan. Whenever Scoochie would go over to his house his grandfather would always have the NHL on and that's when Scoochie was captured by hockey fever and the uniqueness of being a goalie in the sport of hockey

James LeBlond has one sibling who is still attending high school at this time. While a sporty individual, her only interest in doing ice hockey was because there was a player on his team that she had a massive crush on, and she wanted to spend time around him. While quite stalkerish, her parents decided not to spend that kind of money on a crush. Instead, she took up field hockey, and has made All-State for the 2nd year in a row as a defensive midfielder.

Alright, here we go. So first off -- yes, Jax has a sibling. Everybody knows this sibling because it is Jason Aittokallio, the two-time Challenge Cup winning goaltender in Manhattan. That's actually the reason Jax became a center instead, because his brother was already a goalie and would force Jax to take shots on him for some warm up and practice. Jax never really got to don the pads and is the only Aittokallio in the SHL to never play in net.

However, now Jason has two kids of his own who are on their way up. One of whom is using his old pads as hand me downs and another who has shown a proficiency for defense. Maybe in the future we'll see some new Aittokallios around.

Now, the thing here is there is one answer for the best family in league history and that is the Aittokallio family. Patriarch Jakub was the first goaltender to win the Ron Mexico Trophy, the first goaltender to win 3 Challenge Cups in a career, the first goaltender to win 400 games in a career and only recently surpassed by Michael McFadden. Then he went into Manhattan Rage management where he developed a perennial contender as general manager and won a Challenge Cup in that role as well, while giving the Rage their greatest run in their entire franchise's history making the playoffs in 7 of the last 8 seasons.

Jakub on his own has done a huge amount in the SHL, and was also a factor in the original introduction of the SHL History section for goaltenders having manually tracked over years the statistics of goaltenders.

Keep in mind none of the other families listed here were ever head general managers. Some may have held a Co-GM spot, but ultimately their success was tied to the man in charge more so. Jakub is the one running his own ship.

Then we go off to Jason Aittokallio, who unfortunately was strapped to a struggling team and so didn't enjoy the same successes his father had but was able to help bring that team to the cusp of playoffs constantly and when they made it, he turned it on even more. Jason had a run where he went 12-0-2 in the playoffs, an unheard of record in his era. He had the greatest winning percentage in the playoffs in his era, and was the highest SV% in the playoffs in his era. He was an undeniable beast who brought home two Cups of his own. This is at worst a fringe hall of famer who absolutely dominated in his time but because of the team around him doesn't get the same respect as many others.

And finally, we have Jax Aittokallio now who is a good player who could probably be top line on many other teams but opts to play second line in Manhattan. He's never been a superstar in his own right, but has been a helpful driving force on his team and has brought home a Challenge Cup win of his own as well. While he's the less successful of the family, he's got a long way to go still and may just find his place in history.

For all these reasons, where I went way overboard on the amount written, the Aittokallios are without a doubt the greatest family in SHL history.

An old man's dream ended. A young man's vision of the future opened wide. Young men have visions, old men have dreams. But the place for old men to dream is beside the fire.
