S54 Casino - 1st Edition
WC: 2759

Heya everyone before I begin I want to apologize to everyone for the lack of casino media last season. With the combination of covid, school, work, family, and other commitments among a few other things I’m probably forgetting, myself and @bbjygm were unable to find time to produce media for the casino. While I’m on the topic of least season, I would also like to announce that bbjygm has unfortunately stepped down from the position of casino assistant. It’s been a pleasure to be able to work with him this past season and his work has been immensely helpful to the casino. Thank you for everything bbjygm and I wish you luck on your future endeavors!

While I have your undivided attention, I would like to clarify some things about the casino as I was contacted a few times this season on these certain matters. Firstly, you are not allowed to edit your bets once submitted unless something is wrong with your bets. Then secondly, withdrawal is supposed to be at the beginning of the season but I fucked up last season and forgot to do so which I apologize for the confusion I caused to those few who messaged me.

Anyways… moving onto the content most of you came here for!

So first off lets start with some statistics .-. So as I’m sure many of you read, the casino saw a massive lot of money last season with this change to FHM. As such it seems it gave the casino a lot more attention going into the 2nd season of FHM as we had a record breaking 89 casino participants in which 45 of you parlayed, making up for a whopping 240.2 MILLION dollars on the line this season! I am both extremely excited to be able to see numbers like this and extremely scared that the casino is gonna go under cause of bankruptcy…. Anyways without further ado here are where each team stands regarding their betting lines!

As of 6/2 sim

Note: I started this on 6/2 but finished on 6/3 which is why this is as of the sim of 6/2

Baltimore Platoon
Over/Under: 20.5
Current Record: 3-9-0
On Pace For: 17-33-0
Over Bets: 11
Under Bets: 14

Going into this season, the platoon are quite literally looking like a new team out there! No but in all seriousness, it seems not much has changed really for the Platoon. The team as a whole hasn’t changed too much besides they have brought up some young pieces to fill out the roster. If they can play as well as sophomore goalie Luca Del Vecchio did his rookie year, we might see some resurgence of the team but as of yet the Platoon are still a struggling team in the stacked east that are on pace to fall below the 20.5 win bet line the casino set.

Buffalo Stampede
Over/Under 37.5 Wins
Current Record: 8-2-2
On Pace For: 33-8-7
Over Bets: 1
Under Bets: 6

This offseason the Buffalo Stampede acquired two amazing pieces in Eric Vanderberg and Matt Kholin after a tough loss in the first round of the playoffs last season to an already absolutely stacked roster which have made them to be challenge cup favorites to many. They proved that fact even more as they destroyed teams in the preseason, going undefeated. Unfortunately though for the stampede, that preseason dominance doesn’t seem to have continued as they have a 8-2-2 record at the moment which puts them on pace to fall well below the betting line to the comfort of those 6 under betters.

Calgary Dragons
Over/Under 34.5 Wins
Current Record: 6-6-0
On Pace For: 25-25-0
Over Bets: 0
Under Bets: 6

Quite a rough start for this dragons team as they started the season very streaky with short bursts of success or failure. The dragons were quite quiet this offseason regarding active roster players but with a stacked team across the board, they didn’t really need to chase after pieces. Unfortunately though for them, as I’ve stated, they have been quite streaky and inconsistent this regular season which as put them in a bit of a sticky situation as they will have to hit their strive soon in order to break the pace of 25 wins they are destined to meet to the delight of betters that might see them outside of playoff contention in a western conference that seems a lot more competitive than in recent seasons.

Chicago Syndicate
Over/Under: 31.5 Wins
Current Record: 7-3-1
On Pace For: 32-14-4
Over Bets: 13
Under Bets: 4

This offseason, Chicago acquired an amazing player in Gunnar Söderberg to add onto an incredible stacked young roster that have proven to be able to be a force in the east as they have started off strong with a 7-3-1 record that has slotted them in at 3rd in the eastern conference under Buffalo and Manhattan. Luckily for all of those who bet over this season, Chicago doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon and have proven to be able to topple even the best teams this season. Truly a scary roster that will only get better with time.

Edmonton Blizzard
Over/Under: 30.5 Wins
Current Record: 9-2-0
On Pace For: 41-9-0
Over Bets: 4
Under Bets: 1

Currently the best team in the SHL, the Edmonton Blizzard are sitting on a 9-2 record that has them comfortably ahead of the rest of their western conference brethren. The Edmonton Blizzard hit the ground running this season as they have had incredible seasons across the board for their players that propelled them to an incredible 6 game winning streak that was very surprisingly halted by the Minnesota Chiefs. However that doesn’t seem to have slowed this Blizzard team one bit as they are on pace for a record of 41 wins which we will have to see if they can achieve but as of now, all you over betters should be able to live comfortably knowing.

Hamilton Steelhawks
Over/Under: 30.5 Wins
Current Record: 6-2-2
On Pace For: 30-5-5
Over Bets: 40
Under Bets: 0

This is a bit scary to see as all of you have betted over…. Well it’s no surprise to see 40 of you believe the current challenge cup champions will be able to surpass a betting line of 30.5 wins, especially after a 40 win season. Unfortunately for the crowned champs and over betters alike, Hamilton doesn’t seem to have captured the regular season dominance we are accustomed to as they have struggled quite a bit to start the season which has earned them a 6-2-2 record. This really could just be chalked up to that none of their players seems to be having any breakout seasons like what we saw from Flacko Lagerfield and Gabriel Johnson last season but there is still plenty of regular season left to see if Hamilton will be able to regain their form but as of yet, all of you 40 betters should be worried as they are on pace to just barely fall under that 30.5 win line.

Los Angeles Panthers
Over/Under: 31.5
Current Record: 6-5-0
On Pace For: 27-23-0
Over Bets: 5
Under Bets: 1

This offseason the Los Angeles Panthers were quite quiet as they didn’t add any new assets to the roster, rather securing what they had already had. They are however the former kings of the west, but unfortunately for them and most of you, the Los Angeles Panthers seem to not have hit their stride early on in the regular season with a middling record of 6-5-0 that has led to be on the fringe of playoffs. The western conference seems to be a lot more competitive than it has been in recent seasons however so unless the Panthers can string together a streak of wins, which they proven unable to do, this slow start could cost them a playoff appearance this season and a lot of you some money.

Manhattan Rage
Over/Under: 32.5
Current Record: 8-2-0
On Pace For: 40-10-0
Over Bets: 0
Under Bets: 9

The Manhattan Rage are coming off a very disappointing season that saw them go from cup winners to just barely scraping a playoff appearance after a 25-22-3 regular season run. Their gms didn’t seem too worried about it as they are fielding a pretty much identical team as last seasons but with such a young roster at their disposal, it’s one that has improved greatly. That’s all quite unfortunate for everyone in the east however as the Manhattan Rage seem to have return to their former dominant form, starting this season off with a bang with a 8-2-0 record that has them battling it out with the Buffalo Stampede for first in the east. It’s also quite sad news for all you betters out there that foresaw this Manhattan roster to struggle once again as they are well on pace for a 40 win run.

Minnesota Chiefs
Over/Under: 15.5
Current Record: 1-7-1
On Pace For: 6-38-6
Over Bets: 1
Under Bets: 21

The Minnesota Chiefs spent this offseason going after future assets as like everyone else is aware, they are a team that is still rebuilding and won’t be a contender for a few seasons to come. However even still I think I can say this team has underperformed just a bit, especially when looking at teams around or under their talent level to start off the S54 season as they have only been able to topple 1 team in their first 9 games. That only win though was against the best team in the SHL so this team doesn’t seem to be completely beat out. It’s pretty safe to say that 21 betters will be seeing a pretty good paycheck this offseason if the Minnesota Chiefs keep performing like this however. Note: I just wanna say… that this team won 3 games in the very next sim. Most notably beating the Blizzard again .-.

New England Wolfpack
Over/Under: 35.5
Current Record: 7-4-0
On Pace For: 32-18-0
Over Bets: 5
Under Bets: 0

With the switch to FHM last season, the New England Wolfpack are finally not underperforming and missing out on the playoffs to rebuilding teams. Proven such as they were the best team in the whole league in the regular season last season as they racked up an incredible 42 win season off the back of a mvp caliber season from Ola Wagstrom, breakout seasons for many, and the return to dominance from former MVP Johannes Leitner. Unfortunately for Leitner however, New England immediately traded him away for all star goalie Benjamin Blue. They also made some other trades but I wont get into those. This seems to have blown back in their faces however as Benjamin Blue hasn’t been playing the best as they start this regular season with a record of 7-4-0 which is way off pace of meeting the 35.5 win line they will need to surpass for all you NEW betters out there.

New Orleans Specters
Over/Under 34.5
Current Record: 6-4-0
On Pace For: 30-20-0
Over Bets: 0
Under Bets: 7

The New Orleans Specters are definitely an underperforming team this season to start as they have been only able to achieve a record of 6-4-0. Like almost every other team, NOLA didn’t really do much this offseason but they are bringing up 1st team SMJHL S51 forward Mitchell van der Heijden to join an already stacked offensive roster that has 2 lines of players with all at least 1400 tpe. The area this team is really struggling at though is the man in the net as Aleister Cain seems to have come back to earth and back to underperforming where he really should be. It seems you all predicted all this though as there are 7 under bets while 0 over bets for the 34.5 win line.

San Francisco Pride
Over/Under 31.5
Current Record: 7-5-0
On Pace For: 29-21-0
Over Bets: 1
Under Bets: 16

The San Francisco Pride are coming off of a 27 win season that saw them just barely miss out on playoffs. In order for them to have a better chance at playoffs, they acquired Herb Robert in order to give them more depth at the forward position while also bringing up 1st team SMJHL S51 defenseman Alex Petrenko to shore up the defense. Fortunately for the San Francisco Pride, these new additions along with a stellar season from Piotr Czerkawski has allowed them to stay competitive early on in the western conference as they are slotted in at 3rd. Even though they seem to be a team on the rise, they will still need to win some more in order for all you under betters out there to lose out on your sweet sweet cash.

Tampa Bay Barracudas
Over/Under: 5.5
Current Record: 0-11-0
On Pace For: 0-50-0
Over Bets: 7
Under Bets: 55

Holy moly…. Well it’s clear that the water dogs of Tampa Bay were the clear casino favorite this season seeing as there are a total of 62 bets on them! This is some deja vu .-. But once again we saw the Tampa Bay Barracudas blow up their roster in order to secure future assets along with a plethora of picks in order to help their desperately needed rebuild. I think it’s to no ones surprise to see this Tampa squad struggling as they have not been able to capture their first win of the season in 11 games played and are on pace to have the first winless season of the SHL. I’m sure that won’t happen but the futures bright for betters and hopefully for TBB alike right now.

Texas Renegades
Over/Under: 21.5
Current Record: 7-2-2
On Pace For: 32-9-9
Over Bets: 3
Under Bets: 8

Probably the most surprising team so far this season are the Texas Renegades who are currently sitting in 2nd in the western conference after struggling last season as they ended with only 9 wins on the season. In this past offseason they were able to nab Nikolai Evans to add onto a well balance roster that at a glance seem to be getting carried by a prime Andreas Kvalheim who is having quite the comeback season but hes not the only one you gotta look out for as Ivan Maximus has proven himself to be quite the threat on the ice along with a deadly goalie duo holding down the net. This is quite unfortunate for the 8 of you though as the Texas Renegades have shown no signs of stopping and are well on pace for 32 wins that would crush the 21.5 win line that was set for them.

Toronto North Stars
Over/Under: 9.5
Current Record: 3-8-0
On Pace For: 14-36-0
Over Bets: 2
Under Bets: 11

Ah the Toronto North Stars, the team that probably gave out the most money last season but as of right now, doesn’t seem to exactly be the case. The North Stars have started relatively strong, at least for them, to start out this season as they are just cruising by with a 3-8-0 record that has them fighting out Baltimore for 2nd to last in the conference but they aren’t exactly looking to do good so it doesn’t really matter much. It matters to all you though as only 2 of the 13 TOR betters should be expecting a payout once season ends as they are well on pace to break the 9.5 win line and then some.

Wozypeg (Winnipeg) Jets
Over/Under: 20.5
Current Record:  3-7-0
On Pace For: 15-35-0
Over Bets: 0
Under Bets: 0

Unfortunately the Winnipeg Jets didn’t have anyone bet on them in the casino this season but their dismal season as of yet makes me really question why not. The Jets this offseason where able to require the rights to Satoshi Zizagooney from the Buffalo Stampede at the cost of former biscuit winner Eric Vanderberg that has provided some much needed defense to this aging/very young defensive core. Outside of that though, the Jets were quiet like the majority of SHL teams this offseason. As no bets were made, the Jets disappointing start to the season won’t be capitalized on.

Well that concludes the first edition of S54 Casino media. It’s too early to truly say for casino outcomes but it seems FHM hasn’t been as friendly to betters this season to begin but only time will tell. I hope you all enjoy this season and best of luck on all your bets!

Thanks for the mention, it's unfortunate I couldn't properly fulfill the assistant role and I hope the casino continues to improve!
