S54 SMJHL PT #3 - Pre-Game Playlist
#1

At this point in the season, you should be starting to get into the groove with your teammates. But it's not all about the chemistry when you're on the ice - it's the tunes you listen to in the locker room before you get out there that really help you bond.

Requirements

Make a list of 5 songs that are on your team's pre-game playlist.

Reward

2 TPE for doing the thing & 2 additional TPE if you either make a graphic of your choices or elaborate on them (explain who picks the song, how the team reacts, etc.) for a possible total of 4 TPE.

Only S54 SMJHL Rookies (S55 SHL Rookies) are eligible for this PT.

Do NOT claim TPE for this task until a post has been made in the claim thread.

Link PBE or NSFL submissions here to get credit for Welfare claims.

Deadline  Sunday June 14th @ 11:59pm Eastern

'Till I Collapse - Eminem
Alexander Oscarsson (@Zema) started this list off with a bang with a song he thought would help remind us of how we should play every shift. Recently, with the grueling schedule Maine has had, some of the players have almost literally collapsed on the ice, and the song is to remind everyone that no matter how tired they are that they should put everything into their play.

Stronger - Kanye West
This song was added to the list by rookie Jax Gracie (@Im_A_Boonana) and it has taken hold as an excellent workout song in the team gym as well as a hype song in the locker room.

Here Comes the Boom - Nelly
This one, suggested by the only Maine representative at the All-Star Game Mikkel Asmus Sondergard (@Rabidsponge21), and has become a locker room favorite. It's become customary to replace the chorus with "Here comes the BLOOM" while all pointing at the heart of the Timber defense, Goalie Leo Bloomfield (@BloomeyGB).

Levels - Avicii
One of the Rookies from Sweden Rikard Bjerg (@AgentSmith630) decided to bring a little bit of home with him to the locker room. While Avicii is known worldwide, he hails from Sweden, and with the Timber drafting two Swedes in the most recent class, it fits for one of his most well-known songs to be included in the list.

Timber - Pitbull ft. Ke$ha
This one started as a Maine hazing ritual from Captain Kalashnikov (@suavemente), who is hopelessly in love with Ke$ha. Most of the rookies have come to tolerate it, and some even use it as a way to remind them of who they play for after a long night of drinking.

CAN'T HOLD US - Macklemore and Ryan Lewis ft Ray Dalton
Captain Roach (@Faelax) chose this one for us to get us hyped for each game, and as the last song on the playlist, it does a great job of getting our blood pumping. The lyrics mean something a little different for each person, but it still gets everyone in the right mood and mindset to put everything on the line each and every game.

The Good the Bad and the Ugly by Hugo Montenegro
This is a song that starts us off on a bit of slow point, but that's what it's there for. Not everyone is in the room yet and having a slow, yet intense backing for everyone to enter to is vital in the teams preparation. Especially since the winners of the pre-game kick around enter around the best parts of the song. It adds an extra oomph to the song to have Wags or Knight enter as the trumpets kick in towards the end, though they seem to enjoy it more than others when they get to act up entering the locker room.

Fergalicious by Fergie
Axel Foley knows all the words. It's another song that ain't exactly 'hype', but while everyone's loose the rookie being able to belt out some bars does some good for his game. His best performances defensively have come after nailing the rap portion of the song. He really wants everyone else to learn the lyrics for the different verses but that eludes them. Do they not want to try for it? Yeah. If it weren't for Axel's insistence this song doesn't get played.

Running on Ice by Billy Joel
Do you want someone to have a pre-game playlist without Running on Ice? It's got great tempo, and after a slower song this shit slaps. Kinda surprised that Blunt Man chose this one, everyone figured he'd like something slower like Electric Feel, but he came through with this selection. No one gets down when this baby comes on, everyone's head boppin to some Billy J. Doesn't hurt that it's featured in Threat Level Midnight.

Squirdward Nose by CupcakKe
No one knows why this song is in here. No one knows who picked it and it has an uncomfortable air around it whenever it starts up. Sometimes the mood in the room is good and can handle the lyrical genius of CupcakKe, but on the back end of a b2b following a tough loss this song uhh... it doesn't exactly lift the rooms spirits up. However, the one game they took the song off the playlist was against St. Louis and we don't like to talk about those games. Is it the CumcakKe curse? That's what the Kraken room believes, so despite the questionable lyrics of the song, the group has to perservere and enjoy the strong track that backs CupcakKe's singing instead of focusing on what she actually sings. There's a rumour Friendland is the one who snuck this in there to start the season but he never gives a straight answer. No one is willing to grill him any more than they have to, guy's got a reputation on the ice.

Boney Bois by Songwriter X and the Skeleton Band
This song can only be described as good vibes. Eller actually set this one up for the team last season. The Kraken weren't able to win a ton of games, so instead of an intense backing for their ceremonial locker room exit, he got the playlist to focus in on a happy tune that makes you feel light. It stuck, so now this is the last song they listen to before getting on the ice. There are some concerns on how the recent losing skid is impacted by not having something like "Pirates of the Caribbean" playing, but tradition do what tradition does, so Boney Bois survives.

Bill Withers - Lovely Day
This was my personal addition to the playlist; I really like this so because it kinda sounds like hes saying love tha dick instead of lovely day, most of my team mates are sick of it at this point but I still get a kick out of it every time I hear it.

Doja Cat - Say So
This addition to the team playlist was added my none other than Jason Desrouleaux (@gooney). He's a huge Doja Cat fan, most of the team hates it but I lowkey think shes a goddess and I would actively simp for her.

Jasiah - Break Shit
This is a really good hype song, Kyle Izzy's personal addition the the team playlist (@samee). I think most of the team enjoys it but its super hardcore and gives me a headache.

Chilled Cow - beats to relax/study to
I think this is a good addition to the playlist because it kind of chills the room after a tough game, and if anyone says they don't absolutely VIBE to this they are lying, shit bangs. It's pretty funny too that such a chill song is put in by Devin Basher, given that his last name is Basher (@hantheman_).

Doja Cat - Mooo!
Finally another song that I chose to put into the playlist in solidarity with Jason is another Doja Cat, as I mentioned earlier Doja Cat has very nice milkers and she is a queen.

When Super Sonic readies for his games, he usually sits in the corner of the locker room alone with his personal music player beside him. He would share his tunes with his teammates, but he'd rather have his moments of solitary on in the locker room. However, he has different tunes ready for the occasion of game day thanks to a few cool teammates who share some of his interests and himself, and here are the picks.

Deavid Soul - Yappie Feet
The perfect song to invoke that hoppity motivational movement that gets the head boppin' and the funk in the heart for the game ahead.

Crash Twinsanity (Spiralmouth) - Ice Climb
An intense song that builds up SS's hype and puts him in a mental mind space where he's focused on the tasks ahead and visualizing his gameplan on the steep climb that is hockey.

LISA - Work Harder
A song that was picked by his 1st line winger mate, because it fits SS's perspective of constant training and hard work needed to step up. It also reflects a bit the inner beast of SS desiring nothing but to constantly become more powerful destroy all those who get in his way.

eevee - soledad
This song is both a combination of a cool-down song and a song that emotional registers with SS. It makes him think back to a time before all this hockey stuff happened when he was just a guy with no memories of his past wondering the streets of Metropolis Zone trying to figure out who he was. No memories, no pals, just a guy roaming the walkways and resting in empty alleys, and it always felt... lonely...  With this, he takes a moment to breathe and relax, often getting lost in his thoughts as the song plays on.

Rob Zombie - Dragula (Si Non Oscillas, Noli Tintinnare Mix)
Immediately after, the final song comes on, and right there and then, the hype comes back 10x as hard and the aggressive urge to smash shit surfaces at its peak. This the song that kicks him into overdrive and creates the vibe he keeps throughout the game. This song got put on his list by him after a night of playing the Sega Dreamcast with friends.

Thus ending the list. As the horns from the stadium scoreboard bellow, Super Sonic puts on his helmet and prepares to create true and other pain for the team he's facing. The time for passiveness is over, and now, it's time to KILL.

Every Colorado player had to pick 5 different songs that are being used before games. Before every game 5 of those songs are being played. Asclepius is a big Eurovision fan so here is his list:

The Mamas - Move
Little Big - Uno
Samanta Tīna - Still Breathing
Daði & Gagnamagnið - Think About Things
The Roop - On Fire

1. Russian National Anthem
To get us all in the mood, Captain Kalashnikov added this song to to the list. He requires all players (except the goalies) to stand up for the duration of the song. "You listen to American anthem before game. We listen to Anthem of Mother Russia"

2. Timber - Pitbull ft. Ke$ha
Like @AgentSmith630 mentioned, this is also a song that our glorious captain needed to add. A theme song of our team, and he can't resist Ke$ha.

3. Papa Roach - Born for Greatness
Assistant captain and the teams nr. 1 center Alexander Roach wanted to feel represented during the song selection. This is him telling the rest of us: "Just like Papa Roach, I was born for greatness. And like Jacoby Shaddix, I will share that greatness with all of you." He tells that to the locker room before every game, and no one has dared to ask him who the tree is Jacoby Shaddix?!

4. Abba - The Winner takes it all
The Swedish addition to the locker room playlist, coming to you from Rickard Bjerg and yours truly as a welcoming gift from the captains. We were expecting cups and victory laps on demand when we got here. While that is yet to be fulfilled, at least we were improving at some point during the season! Only All-Star defenseman MAS disagreed on having Swedish influence in the locker room. Coincidence?

5. Kryptonite - Three doors down
We here in Maine look at each other as every other teams Kryptonite. Playing us will never be easy (except those 2-3 games earlier this season), and we will never surrender. At least, that is the reason why our wonderful and non-dictatorial GM pair gave us the suggestion to have this song on our list. Did I tell you they are great?

What is Love by Haddaway - This song is requested by none other than (Clean) Andrei Kostitsyn. When this song hits the airwaves in the locker room, Clean starts the head bobbin. Then everyone else begins to head bob. This song is usually near the beginning of the playlist as it gets the whole team riled up and ready to go. It is also good for neck stretching.

Never Gonna Give You Up by Rick Astley -  This song is requested by Steve Harrington. When this song hits, everyone gets up and starts dancing. This song is known as a rick roll song, but to the Berserkers its a banger. Although some of the team, in particular the coaching staff absolutely hates this song and leaves the dressing room when it plays.

Fighter by Keith Urban Ft Carrie Underwood - This song is requested by the team goon Nicco Livius for obvious reasons. Livius is the teams fighter and it makes sense he would want this song. When this song plays, generally Livius sings the Keith Urban lyrics and his fellow fourth liners, Lassi Suhonen and Liam Slate sing Carrie Underwoods lyrics.

Eye of the Tiger by Survivor - This song is requested team wide. It gets the team pumped for the game. It is generally played closer to game time, and sometimes as the team is leaving the locker room to hit the ice. It is also apart of the warm-up playlist played in the arena during warm-ups at Berserker home games.

Sorry by Justin Bieber - This song is requested by rookie Liam Slate. Slate picks this song because he wants to apologize to the other teams before the Berserkers lay the beating on them like they have thus far this season. Usually most of the team eye-rolls and sometimes the song gets skipped, but to Slate, it is an underrated bop of a tune.

In Colorado, we really embrace our pregame playlist. We even have a music channel in our LR. Each game different songs are chosen. But here are 5 songs with the player who chose them.

1. 2nd Sucks - A Day To Remember
Choosen by Lord Raiden. He definitely likes the harder stuff plus coming in 2nd sucks. Its a mixed bag on this one.

2. Joe Walsh – Rocky Mountain Way
Choosen by Simothy Drunkebird. The captain chooses a Colorado Classic. No one can hate a song about the state they are playing for.

3. Jump Around - House of Pain
Choosen by Mertin Broduer. He likes to keep himself ready to go and keep the blood flowing. This seems to get players going.

4. Ice Ice Baby- Vanilla Ice
Choosen by Mack Daddy. He kind of threw this out as a joke but everyone loves it. Its an easy song to go along with.

5. Jurassic Park Soundtrack - the whole Dino Gang. What kind of team would the Raptors be if they didnt have any songs dedicated to Dinosaurs. Easy Choice.

There are alot of other songs that are "bangers" and ones that "slap". Too many to name. But these are just a few that are note worthy in my book.  Raptors

Pre Game Playlist

It turns out that the Armada has a few members that love music that isn't Nickleback and K-Pop. It turns out metal, hardcore, hip hop, and Toto also do the trick for some of the boys.

Integrity - Vocal Test

This song is always on rotation before the games. It's the song that gets people up and going, forget the coffee, the redbulls, the smelling salts. If you're not awake yet, this is the go to song. Clocking in at 1:17, it's fast and to the point.

Slayer - Angel of Death

If Vocal Test didn't wake the boys up, Angel of Death is 2nd on the list. Some of the boys in the locker room have reported bleeding from their ears with the 1-2 combo of Vocal Test and Angel of Death. Don't worry, the trainers are okay with it, it doesn't effect the boy's equilibrium too much.

A Tribe Called Quest - Scenario
This song is the song that gets on when the boys arrive to the locker room to start their pregame rituals. It's a good way to ease into things, get a game of ping pong or soccer going. If the boys are feeling it here, it's bound to be a good day.

Toto - Africa

Some how this snuck onto the playlist one day, everybody thought it was a bit of a joke, but by the end of the song were belting their hearts out. One of the players exclaimed "TURG TURG", which roughly translates to "This is my new favorite song and it needs to be on the playlist EVERY GAME".

Hevisaurus - Ugala Bugala
This song is a favorite of Igor Victory. See, in Finland the number of Metal bands actually outnumbers the citizens. This was a band that Igor grew up listening to and couldn't wait to share it with the boys out in Anchorage. Hevisaurus is band that is geared towards children, they play easy listening metal, and dress up as Dinosaurs on stage, think of them as a children's version of Gwar, without the blood and cum. Igor figured he could get everybody excited with the classic UGALA BUGALA, and it turns out when this song comes out everybody dino stomps about the locker room. If that doesn't get the boys going before the game, what does?
