PSG Game #2 - Detroit Falcons Vs. Maine Timber
#16

Three Stars - 105 Words

Magnus Liljestrom from the Detroit Falcons is our first star of the night. Lijestrom assisted Edward Williams with the last goal from the Falcons tonight.

The second star tonight is Kyle Sutton from the Maine Timber. He got the Timber’s only goal assisted by Rikard Bjerg.

Our final start this evening is Luke McMaster of the Falcons. This centre for Detroit got the first goal of the game in the second period, getting the ball rolling for the rest of the game. He’s been playing for the Falcons since S51, wracking up 13 goals in his first season alone. McMaster continues to perform really well.

Penalties - 101 Words

After a quiet first period, the first goal comes in about 7 minutes into the second period. This gets the ball rolling for Detroit to get the win. While they fought valiantly for their win tonight, some took it a bit too far resulting in penalties. We see a penalty to Jack Kanoff a little over halfway through the second period as well as another to Kanoff less than a minute into the third for tripping and slashing. Joseph Fantobens also received 2 penalties, both in the 3rd period for slashing and misconduct resulting in a total time of 12 minutes.

Goals - Words 102

The first period is quiet when it comes to goals, both teaming trading attempts at goals on the net with Detroit up 3 shots with 10 to Maine’s 7. When the second period comes around we see a goal from Detroit made by McMaster and the Timber clap back with a goal from Sutton just minutes after leaving it 1-1. The third period is now a make or break, and Detroit really delivered. Halfway through the third period, Sutherland and Williams of the Detroit Falcons quickly, one after another, claimed the last 2 goals of the game giving Detroit the win 3-1.

Comment 1 - Player of the Game

There was very strong performances in this game. I thought Detroit Falcons center Luke McMaster played a strong 2 way game here. Like the guy is just a stud center. Every team would love to have him anchoring their line. Plays is heart out. He finally broke the long stalemate in this game. Off a great feed from Jack Kanoff, Luke McMaster ripped this puck hard man. I mean real hard, blew it right by the Maine Timber netminder, giving the Detriot Falcons a 1 goal lead. Great game Mcmaster keep up the good work buddy. One of my my favourite players to watch in the league, without a doubt.

Comment 2 - 3 Stars of the Game

3rd Star - Come on now yoou know who this is. Magnus Liljestrom. What a big time dman Magnus is. This dood can log huge minutes, guys legs are thick trees. High motor energy, and he produces man.
always finds a way on to the score sheet. He go a big time assist on a beauty pass in the 3rd period. Good job Magnus

2nd Star - Kyle Sutton baby. Bang bang bang. Yeah he mightve lost the game, but he showed up in this one. Had big time goal in the first to tie the game up. You deserved better Kyle :(

1st Star - Its ya boi, Lukey Mcmaster. Way to go luke, we are all proud of you.

Comment 3 - Turning Point of the Game

Sit down everyone and let me tell you how the game took a turn in this one. It was late in the evening, a beautiful Saturday night, the stars were out and poeople were happy. Reid Sutherland, good boy from the Detriot Falcons. Hops onto the ice, what happens next might give you a spook. if youre a main timber fan that is. Bang! Sutherland gets the hockey puck, zoom zang. Dekes through 2, yes you read that right, 2 maine timbers. "TIMBER" Sutherland yells as he cracks their ankles Snap snap. WRIP! Sutherland fucks the puck past the Timber goalie, no idea what is name is, WEE WOO WEE WOO. The falcons SCORE! This would end up being the game winning goal. Big turning point.

Quick Look at Net

We take a quick look at the goalies that played tonight. First is Leo Bloomfield who gave up 3 goals on 32 shots for a .906% which is not bad. Leo did not cost his team the game as he only had one goal scored by the rest of his team and 21 shots. On the other end is Thor Odinson who let in only one goal on 21 shots for a .952%, I would say he was a bit better tonight than Bloomfield but not by much when you factor in the teams defensive play. Neither goalie really won or lost the game tonight but had a good showing.

Good But Bad Defense

Adrik Baranov had a great performance for the Timber despite the loss. He played just over 22 minutes and had 2 shots, 3 block shots with a hit and a takeaway. This while his team was rather lackluster defensively while Baranov was perfect in his own zone. Sondergard and Kalashnikov were also great which hurt Maine as their other defesmen let them down and provided the Falcons a match up that they could exploit. Will Windsor and O’McGuiness were the weak link as they both were -2 on the night in about 15 minutes of play. Maine needs to fix this difference if they want to be competitive this year, but I'm sure the coaches can help in that fix.

Perfect Penalty Kill?

Both teams tonight were perfect on the penalty kill. Maine went 2/2 and Detroit 3/3, so we need to look if it was good penalty killing or just a bad powerplay. It was looking like a good penalty kill early on as Detroit had a few chances in their first power play, Maine also looked fine but neither really had a clear chance to score. Looking at the third period is a different story as neither team looked good on the man advantage. Maine had a chance right at the start of the period but completely whiffed on that chance barely having any zone time and Deroit was not much better with their second chance. So really it was poor power play more than a solid penalty kill effort.
