Task #2: Magazine

Between the Pipes: A look into the S54 SMJHL’s Final from the point of the view of the Crease.

In the S54 SMJHL Final, each teams boast a star stalwart in between the pipes, with the Anaheim Outlaws netminder in Strom Chamberlain and the Carolina Kraken’s tender in Frans Eller. Each goaltender is among the top goaltending prospects in the SHL pipeline, being the top netminders from each of their draft classes, and their performance throughout the season has lended credence to their status as top goaltenders and both are big reasons why each of their clubs have been able to make it to the S54 SMJHL Final. Strom Chamberlain, a stout 260 lb netminder and a recent draft choice of the Winnipeg Jets, has led the way for the Outlaws in these playoffs and looks to be a strong contender for playoff MVP with a .929SV% and a 2.14 GAA. Frans Eller, after having a strong regular season for the Kraken, has struggled moderately in these playoffs, and will likely need to put in his best performance to outshine Chamberlain in this final.

Task #3: Charity

Coming from humble beginning in New York’s “Salt City,” Syracuse, Ryan Rieley knew how hard it was to get involved in youth hockey and was fortunate enough to come from a family that was able to bring that financial barrier. As Ryan transitioned into playing semi-professional hockey and began to look into his professional career at the SHL level, Ryan took it upon himself to launch his own youth hockey program back in his home city of Syracuse. Ryan’s program called “Rieley’s Rink Rats” is dedicated to creating opportunities for lower income and underprivileged youth in the city of Syracuse, in hopes to get more people interested in the sport and give the city’s youth an alternative activity to pursue outside of school. “Getting these kids to come in for an hour or two to learn how to skate, shoot, and make new friends, it gives them an outlet and a path to grow on,” says Rieley, “Just giving these kids a place to come, stay off the street, and become engrained in a community that can nurture them, that’s what this program is all about.”

Task #7: Offseason

As Ryan Rieley transitions to the offseason after a playoff exit with the Colorado Raptors, his eyes are set on his own personal development along with looking ahead to his professional career and the SHL Draft. Week to week, Rieley is continuing to work and train hard in order to better himself for next season in Colorado, spending his time with off-ice strength training and spending time on-ice with his skills coach, but off the ice, now is prime time for interviews and draft discussion with interested parties from the SHL. On the average day, Rieley spends his morning and early afternoon training, while in the evening he likely has a meeting set up for him by his agent with an interested SHL club. Between training and meeting with over half a dozen interested clubs to this point in the offseason, Rieley can’t help but be excited for the future and can’t wait to put on an SHL’s team’s sweater at the draft, all before returning to Colorado for his sophomore campaign in the SMJHL.

TASK #1: (117 words)  +2 TPE
As a way to give back credit to the dedicated Raptors fans, the Raptors let Big Terry design a promotion night. What better night to hold such an event then home opener of S55. In this game against a team to be determined, All fans will recieve an excellent gift via the Colorado Raptors. For starters, every fan in attendance will recieve a small bobblehead. This bobblehead will depict a miniture Raptor wearing a Colorado Raptors jersey and holding a hockey stick. Then, ten lucky fans will recieve a coupon for one free Colorado Raptors jersey. This will feature a player of their choices name and number on the back. (Hopefully they chose a Terrence Smith jersey.)

TASK #2: (170 words) +3 TPE
Argueably the most important and most difficult position in hockey has to be the goaltender. Poor goaltenders are often subject to blame when their team is playing poorly. However, they have a giant amount of responsibility in a teams success. So here is a breif comparision between the Carolina Kraken's Frans Eller and the Anaheim Outlaw's Strom Chamberlain. Throughout the season, both of these goaltenders have shown that they are at the top of their form and two of the best players in the league. However, going into the playoffs, Strom Chamberlain has been a dominant force recording a near .930 save percentage and a 2.14 goals against average. This clearly gives the Outlaw's goalie the edge over a Frans Eller that has struggled throughout a majority of the playoffs. In all, the two goaltenders are both great goalies when at the top of their games, but with Eller having a down stretch, Strom Chamberlain and the Anaheim Outlaws might be able to ride thier defensive momentum into the series.

TASK #3: (152 words) + 3 TPE
Ever since Terrence Smith had arrived in Colorado, he has pledged to make a difference in the community. This strive to be in touch and supportive of the people of Colorado has really introduced Big Terry to new charities. One of these such charities is a Colorado Charity that helped families with children in health trouble. Big Terry was introduced to the founder of the charity soon afer moving to Colorado for thhe start of the season and immediately. From visiting the hospitals to being on the front line at events to raise funds and awareness for the cause. Whilst doing these, he even founded a new event for the charity at a local golf club. Now after completing the first tournament, Big Terry and the rest of the foundation look to hold a second gold tournament next year in support of this cause and to build off the previous years success.

TASK #7: (163 words) +3 TPE
After finsihing up a grueling season with an unfortunate end of Big Terry Smith and the rest of the Colorado Raptors, Big Terry was expected to go back to his home in California to spend time with his family, rest up, and play loads of golf. However, commited to his craft, Big Terry has announced that he intends on going to Toronto, Ontario to improve his game with the best hockey trainers in the world. Without a break, and a exhausting 15 hour a week schedule, many expect Big Terry to drain or experince athlete's burn out during this endevour. However, when asked on this issue he stated that "(he) really think(s) that I'll be able to continue on like this. Throughout my life I've had to work hard for everything, and improving and bringing a championship to Colorado is not an exemption." Obviously these are big words from the big rookie, so he'll have plenty to live up to for next season.

TASK #8B (68 words) + 1 TPE
With the strong play of Strom Chamberlain as well as the dynamic offence that the Carolina Kraken have been playing with, it raises a question about who will prevail in this important series. However, it must be noted that the saying is, "Defence wins Championships". WIth this in mind, the Anaheim Outlaws and Strom Chamberlain should be able to out play the Carolina Kraken throughout the championship series.

Task 1:

Task 7:
Unfortunately my playoff hopes were cut short due to being knocked out in 5 games in the semi-finals to the Anaheim Outlaws. After a team meeting 2 days after being knocked out back in Kelowna, we were dismissed for the summer and free to do as we pleased. For me, that meant that my first stop was a week in Cancún, Mexico. After not getting some good sun for a whole season, it was nice to be able to sunbathe on the amazing beaches and swim in the gulf. After the week, it was back to business. My father is a strength and conditioning coach for a soccer team back in England, so I went back home in order to train with him. As I have been training, I have been preparing for my interviews with SHL teams that may be interested in me. Practicing in front of the mirror and in front of friends and family, so I can make sure that I do not mess up an answer and drop my stock because I was not prepared. I cant wait for this upcoming season and see where I will end up playing in my professional career.

Task 8:
A: I believe that the best name in the Anaheim Outlaws - Carolina Kraken finals matchup is Jöörgüštrâäd DuBølk. Just look at all those accent marks and that ø in the last name. Some players have unique names that wouldn't be typically be taken seriously, but this one I could see as being legit.

B: As a goalie player myself, I always like to believe in a goalies chances. Strom Chamberlain is a great player and can stop those pucks well, however I think that Carolina can and will light up the goal buzzer quite a bit. And after reviewing the the finals scores, that prediction did come true with the Kraken absolutely did light up the Outlaws.

C: Well I wish that Kelowna had the opportunity to get to the finals, because that is the team that I play on. Anaheim was much too difficult and grindy of an opponent for us in the semi finals, with a brick wall in front of the net. I say that if we managed to get more goals in the net than Anaheim, we would have won that series.

D: I would say that for Carolina, Jimmy Wagner was the key player throughout the regular season to get them a spot in the playoffs. 24 goals and 29 assists to tie the league for most points is very impressive. For Anaheim the key player would be Taylor Johansson. With 9 goals and 29 assists, but with a league leading average game rating of 73, he was a fantastic player throughout the season.

Task 1: 2 TPE
The Anchorage Armada went all out with their fan support items. Giving them out in their home opener against the Colorado Raptors in which the Armada won 5-4 in a shootout. As for the actual items they gave out: player action figures. The first two thousand fans into the arena walked away with their very own player action figure complete with catch phrases and windup slap shot action. The TURG action figure however, was holding his stick the wrong way. Rather fitting for a player of TURG’s status. The fans top three favourite action figures were Theo Kondos, Bork Lazer, and Pojo Biscuit. After finding out that TURG wasn’t in the top 3, he promptly started tossing TURG action figures into the crowd to try and “Build some hype.” We’ll see if TURG’s plan panned out.

Task 3: 3 TPE
Before the season began, the Anchorage Armada were already getting in on giving back to the community. The team got together and attended the NAWIC Golf Tournament in Anchorage, with proceeds going to the NAWIC Alaska scholarship for students interested in construction. The event was a smashing success all around. TURG finished with the worst score, going +4 on every hole. It turns out, TURG misunderstood the rules of golf and thought the highest score won. The eventual winner of the event was none other than Scoochie Stratton. When asked about it he said: “Just gives me more practice for playoff time once I’m in the SHL.” The group raised 50,000 dollars with their involvement and promised to return next year as well. Theo Kondos and Igor Victory were quite popular at the event. Both of them had their own competition to see who could pick up the most golf babes. Both of them lost to Bork Lazer who walked away with all of them.

Task 4: 2 TPE
Introducing: YOUR CAROHEIM KRAKLAWS KrakenOutlaws

Starting at the center position:
Rikard Hammarberg, Outlaws

The captain of the team, Rikard Hammarberg leads with his fantastic team play. He notched 44 points, with most of them being assists. Look for Rikard to feed his linemates for some phenomenal goals.

RW: Jimmy Wagner Kraken
Wagner is a solid goal scorer and would be the prime threat on this team.

LW: Vitek Vitecek Kraken
Vitecek finished the season with 44 points which put him tied for sixth place in the league.

LD: Adam Friedland :Kraken:
Adam Friedland led the league in penalty minutes. He also had a league best +/-. People may say it’s a worthless stat. But you cannot argue the impact he had on the ice for his team.

RD: Emilia Bergman Outlaws
Emilia Bergman was 5th in hits, 4th in shots blocked, and had 20 takeaways to 14 giveaways. Every team needs a defensive specialist and Bergman is that player.

G: Frans Eller
The goaltender for the Kraklaws is one who finished 2nd in total wins, as well as having the 3rd most total saves. Having played 44 of 50 games, his peak conditioning could steal games for the team easily.

Task 5: 3 TPE
The playoffs are underway!! The Newfoundland Berserkers face off against the Carolina Kraken as the St. Louis Scarecrows do battle with the Detroit Falcons in the Eastern Conference.

In the West we see the Kelowna Knights going toe to toe with the Anaheim Outlaws while the Anchorage Armada take on the Colorado Raptors.

Matchup 1: Berserkers vs. Kraken
This is probably the most exciting to watch matchup in the playoffs. The Berserkers and Kraken are two high powered teams. But overall, I think the depth of the Berserkers will be enough to defeat Carolina.
Berserkers in 7.

Matchup 2: Scarecrows vs. Falcons
This isn’t really a close matchup. Detroit might steal a couple games. But the Scarecrows are a better team top to bottom.
Scarecrows in 5.

Matchup 3: Knights vs. Outlaws
The Knights have better goalies, offence, physicality, powerplay, and penalty kill. But that doesn’t mean the Outlaws should be underestimated. The Knights likely take this in 6 games. But the Outlaws have a decent chance to force a game 7.
Knights in 6.

Matchup 4: Armada vs. Raptors
The Raptors and Armada were both teams that finished with rather mediocre numbers across the board. The Armada has the edge in offence, shots blocked, and physicality. The Raptors have more consistent goaltending which could often be the difference in a seven game series. The Raptors have the edge in special teams where the Armada struggled throughout the season. All in all, could be a very close series.
Raptors in 7

Task 6: 2 TPE
I put my money on the Kraken over the Outlaws 8/10 times. A quick google search showed me that there were about twenty five people in Billy The Kid’s posse. A pirate ship would have anywhere between 15-25 people on board. Assuming the battle takes place on or near the water, there isn’t much the Outlaws should be able to do to kill the Kraken. A few lucky shots by the Outlaws might be able to fend off the Kraken. But the odds are slim. Even with a victory by team Outlaw, the losses to their side at the tentacles of the Kraken would render them very short on manpower.

Task 1: Affliate Point Task - 2 TPE
https://nsfl.jcink.net/index.php?showtop...t&p=321717

Task #8 - 4 TPE
A. Which player from either team has the best name in this series (just the name itself, nothing to do with the player themselves).
I mean this was kind of hard, but looking at the rosters, I have to say Jöörgüštrâäd DuBølk. I mean you can not go wrong, with multiple not normal letters, including o's with two dots and an o with a slash through it. He is an Anaheim player as well, so that gives him some added points.

B. Strom Chamberlain has been lights out during these playoffs for Anaheim, but Carolina has had no problems lighting up goalies standing in their way these playoffs. Will hot goaltending or hot offense win out these finals?
Well, I would think that the hot offense would win out. Cause goalkeepers can make some mistakes and goals can go in, but forwards can be really good, and get the goals past. As much as I want to say Chamberlain will hold out, it will be a hard task for him these playoffs.

C. You're in another timeline where Kelowna and Newfoundland are the two cup finalists. What went right for them in this timeline's semis compared to ours where they lost?
Well simply they scored more goals. If Kelowna had gone through, it would have been mostly because Strom Chamberlai did not play as well as he actually did. Him and Ethan Price carried the Anaheim offense. If Kelowna and Newfoundland went to finals, I would think Kelowna would win.

D. We've been talking about the playoffs, but it's performance throughout the season that helped even get our finalists into the playoffs here. Who was the key player to success for either team (or both) during the regular season and why?
The whole first line offense of Anaheim was crucial to its success including Ethan Price and Hammerburg. Hammerburg has a big case for MVP, so it will be interesting to see if he is able to win it. But without this amazing offense, Anaheim would not have made it to the finals.

PT 1:

The Colorado Raptors faced off again the Kelowna Knights which was the Raptors 41st game of the season. On a night where the Raptors played a tight defensive game on their way to a 1-0 victory, they also released to the first 100 fans, inflatable Raptors outfits. These costumes stood at about 8 feet tall and had a button inside them to give off realistic Raptor noises. It was great for the fans who received them, for the fans that didn't get them.....not so much. The suits were too big and took up to much space causing a few scuffles. It remains to be seen if the raptors will do this again.

PT 6:

Who would win a fight in a war between Outlaws and The Kraken? Well there are a lot of variables that need to be considered. For the Outlaws, there is just one scenario in which they would beat the Kraken and that is if they were able to find a way to get it out of the water. Since a Kraken is a sea creature, getting them out of the water would not only allow outlaws to use their guns to damage the Kraken, the Kraken would probably die out due to lack of water. That being said, this scenario is a pipe dream. The outlaws would have to go to the Krakens domain and it would be over before it began. The average human is 5'9, 197 while the Kraken is reported to be 50 ft tall, 100 ft in length and 60 tons. In this scenario the Kraken wins every time.

PT 7:

As the Raptors were being eliminated from the first round of the SMJHL Playoffs, Mosley was sitting in the press box and couldn't wait to get out of there. He knew this season wasn't his so when that final buzzer rang, he went down to the dressing room, said his goodbyes and left. Mosley has spent his off-season doing the following. In the mornings he gets up early and hits the golf course. Mosley has been playing since he was 7 and plays at about a 3 handicap. He gets out on the links at about 7 and finishes at around 10:30. After golf Mosley trains. The draft is coming up and Mosley has his eyes set on the Rage. He is training every day, working on his conditioning and making sure his game improves in order to impress scouts and finally crack an everyday lineup in the SMJHL, whether it be with the Raptors or in expansion.

159

PT 8:

1. Best name (57):

The best name for either team in these finals goes to Axel Foley. Being named after one of the greatest fictional movie characters ever is a great way to introduce yourself. We can all only wish to have been named after a character played by Comedic legend Eddie Murphy in a legendary movie like Beverley Hills Cop.

2. Goaltending or Offense? (80):

The question as old as time is does offense or defense win championships? History has a tendency to repeat itself and in the case of this age old question, it is no different. A legendary defense will also defeat a potent offense when it comes to playoff hockey and in the case of the Outlaws, a great defense starts between the pipes. I see no reason why Strom Chamberlain shouldn't continue his hot start and end up hoisting the cup.

3. Different Timeline (107):

In order for the Berserkers and the Knights to have been playing in the finals instead of being bounced in the semis, one thing needs to have happened for both teams. The Berserkers make the finals in this scenario due to Amundsen playing up to the standards he and his team played in the regular season where they had the 2nd best goal differential and prevent the Krakens offense from getting going. The Knights make the finals by actually scoring goals. In our current timeline the Knights scored 6 goals in 5 games. If they score 15 in 5 games then they are probably playing finals hockey.

4. Key Player (64):

The key player for the Kraken during the regular season and who helped them reach the ultimate goal, was Jimmy Wagner. Wagner was tied for the league lead in points with 53 while he finished third in goal scoring with 24. Couple that with his ability to play defense and his willingness to block shots and you have the recipe for a team MVP.

Task #1 - 2 TPE
Your team is giving back to their supporters by holding a fan appreciation day for one of their games, where the team will hand out a special commemorative item to show thanks for their continued support of the franchise. You have been tasked to design the product to be given out to the attendees (can be a rally towel, foam finger, bobble head, etc.)
Requirements:
- WRITTEN: Write a 100 word blurb about the item, including details on during which game was / will be given out.
- GRAPHIC:  Include a picture of the item and at least one SMJHL logo; must look like you at least kinda tried.

Well our season has come to an end but our team the Colorado Raptors is planning on hosting a Fan Appreciate Night on the FIRST HOME GAME of the next upcoming season. We don't know who we are playing against yet but it doesn't matter. I was given the honor of designing something to give the fans a limited edition Colorado Raptors LEGO set. We teamed up with LEGO and were able to create our own set with official Raptors branding. It includes a small rink with 5 skates and 1 goalie minifigure. There is some stickers to put Raptors logos on the ice. There is also a LEGO Raptor from the Jurassic World retired LEGO Series in the box. Kids and parents will all love this set and people will be wanting tickets to our first game.

Task #2 - 3 TPE
Write a magazine style article or make a magazine cover featuring a player comparison from any series matchup. You can compare player stats, etc. or get creative and compare their pregame superstitions or whatever.

Today we are looking at a player match-up for the SMJHL Finals. We are looking at top tier left wings today so I picked Ethan Price of the Anaheim Outlaws and Dwight Knight of the Carolina Kraken. These two are both playing over 19 minutes a night for their teams and some of the leading scorers in the playoffs. So instead of looking at their stats so far we are going to compare their signatures. I am going to take one picture from each of their sigs, whatever one appears first and judge them against each other. Please note I have no graphics experience at all.

Ethan Price -[Image: jv36pU0.png]

Very nicely done signature. Looks like whoever made this knows a lot about making signatures. If they played for the Boston Bruins it would be perfect. I give this 9/10.

Dwight Knight - [Image: knight.png]

This one always makes me laugh. That being said it looks like whoever made it doesn't have the same prowess as the artist above. I give this a 8/10.

Task #3 - 3 TPE
Professional hockey players are among the luckiest members of a community, but not everyone is given the same opportunities. As such, many players are expected to give back to the community by volunteering their time and energy off the ice with various charitable organizations. Either write about a charity or event that your player helped out with, or create a flyer or invitation for your event, including team logo, a photo of your player render, and the charity/charities being supported by the event.

Mack Daddy has been volunteering as a Big Brother to kids in and around Denver. A lot of children in these programs come from tough home situations and don't feel very confident about themselves. Mack takes time to spend real hours with these children and really tries to be that Big Brother they never had. He helps them to see how no matter what has happened in the past that they are valuable and beautiful. He knows that all it takes is one adult who cares to make a kid feel loved and special that otherwise could go towards dark paths. The program he is a part of is amazing and the volunteers working there have done such a great job setting it up. Mack thinks he is so lucky to get to spend time with kids because they are always so pure at heart. It's a win-win for all involved and Mack Daddy will be donating more funds to other charities once he is in the SHL.

Task #8 - 1-4 TPE
Answer up to 4 of these prompts, each one being worth 1 TPE for 50 words each.
A. Which player from either team has the best name in this series (just the name itself, nothing to do with the player themselves).

Blunt Man has the best name in the series. Most likely he is named after smoking blunts. But maybe his parents had no clue what that was and just wanted to raise a Blunt (Uncompromisingly forthright) man? Either way this is the best name in the series and I hope this goalie isn't too stoned to stone.

B. Strom Chamberlain has been lights out during these playoffs for Anaheim, but Carolina has had no problems lighting up goalies standing in their way these playoffs. Will hot goaltending or hot offense win out these finals?

I think you gotta score to win so whoever can score will win it all. The Carolina Kraken really looked beefy coming into these playoffs and I think they have enough to win it all. Goaltending is great but if you are standing out that much it means your team isn't doing something right. I think Carolina will win it all by outgunning the enemy.

C. You're in another timeline where Kelowna and Newfoundland are the two cup finalists. What went right for them in this timeline's semis compared to ours where they lost?

Well since we are playing the alternate dimension game and anything can be real I will say that Kelowna won because 4 members of the Anaheim Outlaws were caught up in a prostitution sting and taken out of the series before game 1 started. Also Newfoundland beat Carolina thanks to sending hookers to the Krakens hotel rooms at 2 AM the night before game 7. The boys in Carolina were up all night and didn't sleep at all. They were shit in game 7 and the Berserkers advanced.

D. We've been talking about the playoffs, but it's performance throughout the season that helped even get our finalists into the playoffs here. Who was the key player to success for either team (or both) during the regular season and why?

I think it always is important to have a goalie you can trust on your team. Even if he doesn't stop them all as long as you know when you need him most he will be there. Playing with that confidence changes everything. So I am going with Strom Chamberlain on Anaheim, their best goalie and Frans Eller on Carolina.

Task #1 – 2 tpe

Fan appreciation night was Game 50 against the Knights, the final game of the regular season. Upon entry, each fan was given a bright red Anaheim Outlaw branded bandanna, matching the one in the logo.  The idea is that they would serve as rally towels throughout the playoffs. However, this promotion was highly controversial, as the bright red bandannas closely resembled those used to distinguish members of the bloods. An investigation is currently ongoing to determine a possible connection between the Outlaws organization and gang activity.

Task #4 – 2 tpe

Center – CT Carragher – Carragher can stickhandle in a phone booth and runs clinics on finding open teammates in the offensive zone and on breakouts. This makes the perfect quarterback to move the puck in the offensive zone.

Right Wing – Jimmy Wagner – Wagner’s athleticism makes him dangerous on the wing as he can use his speed to generate chances off the forecheck.

Left Wing – Vitek Vitecek – An absolute sniper, Vitek’s ability to get open and shoot will mesh well with Carragher’s playmaking ability.

Right Defense -  Ambacas Cuddles – This mountain of a person will prevent anyone from getting into position in front of the net in the defensive zone.

Left Defense -  Ulrik Bergrstom – A capable two-way defenseman quick and strong enough to be effective in the corners while also having the puck skills to contribute in the offensive zone.

Task #6 – 2 tpe

As an Anaheim player I feel morally obligated to stand behind my fellow outlaws in their battle against the fabled Kraken. That being said, in a real fight we would not stand a chance in hell trying to take on a Kraken in the open ocean. In this situation I would assume the outlaws would be represented by sea faring pirates, as the desperados of the Wild West would be a joke at sea. Pirates of the Caribbean set a precedent and clearly showed that the pirates would be outmatched at sea. However, if the outlaws pump the ocean with enough microplastics they could simply wait it out.

Task #7 – 3 tpe

This offseason is heavily dependent on the outcome of the finals. If all goes well Anaheim will come out on top and the celebration con begin. This celebration would make the summer of Ovi look tame. I’m talking about swimming in public fountains, attempting to put outlaws apparel on the local ducks at the park, and taking the 4-star cup on all sorts of adventures. Of course all of this would be done as a team and with a dangerously high BAC. However, if things do not go our way in the remainder of the finals, the offseason would take a much more somber tone. If this is the case I plan on disappearing into the woods in rural Maine where I plan on building a log cabin by the lake and using that time and isolation to reflect on the season and what needs to be done moving forward to win it all next season.

Task #8 – 4 tpe

1. Definitely my former teammate Budlight lime Budlight Lime, a name so nice you say it twice. Unfortunately he was traded away during the season but it ended up being the right call as it helped us make it into the final. An honorable mention would be Turg Turg for the same reason.
2. Strom has certainly been killing it in the post season, despite going up against some high caliber offenses. I think that it can be dangerous relying on a hot offense to carry you through the playoffs because as soon as you hit a hot goalie like Strom it can quickly stall, leading to frustration and desperation.
3. For Kelowna to make the finals they would have needed to continue their offensive dominance they displayed in the regular season. Their top line was able to generate huge numbers in the regular season but couldn’t quite get it going in the semis. Newfoundland played a lot of close games, a couple of different puck bounces and they would be in the finals.
4. Top line scoring was a huge factor in getting us to the playoffs. However, we also were able to help out our goalies with a lot of shot blocking and good faceoff percentages. We were anchored by two strong goalies in Strom and Borro who made the difference in many close games.

In a fight between a Kraken and some outlaws it's clear that the Kraken would win in any aquatic setting. It is a monster squid, who often takes down the ships of the most experienced sailors and Sea Outlaws(Pirates). Despite the outlaws having firearms and general tenacity it is no match for the sheer size and power of the Kraken. If the setting shifters to more land over water the scale will tilt towards the outlaws who would have more time to deal with the kraken and hopefully take it down. I still think if this fabled battle took place on a hockey rink the Kraken would still win due to its size.

Task #7 Off-season 3 TPE -
Kharlamov had some time after the scarecrow first round exit to the Kraken till the draft. Knowing he would most likely play in the WJC in London later this offseason Kharlamov flew back to Russia to see his family. This was a nice break from the long and hard fought seven game series he just played, eating homemade food and just relaxing in a familiar space. Unfortunately Kharlamov soon left Russia to head to London to train for the WJC, this tournament would be an important one for Kharlamov since it was his last chance to shoe teams that he should go higher in this draft than 69th like the SMJHL Draft. While in London he met with UCORAL teammates and coaches to work on some more skills to show off before the draft, bringing him right back into the hard working spirit that he had during the playoffs. It really looks like he won't take much time off before the draft, afterwards he said he would like to spend more time back home.

C.A quick look at how both Kelowna and Newfoundland would have made it to the cup instead sees that first Kelowna would have needed to score more on a hot Strom Chamberlain or just not run into such a hot goalie. For Newfoundland it was even more simple as they lost a game 7 to the Kraken by a single third period goal, play stronger in the third period and they could have been here as well.

D. Strom Chamberlain was the biggest reason that the Outlaws made it to the final, absolutely stonewalling the Kelowna knights who many had winning the west this year if not the cup. The outlaws definitely had other players play well, and sometimes a goalie can only be good as his defence but Storm was definitely the main reason the Outlaws are here.

Frans Eller is the finals MVP for me, the Kraken goalie had a great final especially when going up arguably the hottest goalie of the playoffs. Only letting in 13 goals in the finals posting a .907 in the finals while backstopping the Kraken to a cup win. Carolina's offense was done by several players so there is no clear cut forward to give the MVP to. On top of a fantastic shutout win in the clinching game 6 proved to me to be the deciding factor giving my final MVP. Now there could be cases made for several other Kraken players but goaltending is everything in the playoffs and Eller was the best when it matters.

Many teams have their pregame rituals from anything to the song they listen to prior to the game or whatever special thing they do before they get out on the ice. From an anonymous source in side the Anaheim Outlaws locker room we have learned that several players have their own pregame ritual. C.T. Carragher is one of the players with a unique pregame ritual he calls it the Glizzy Guzzler ritual where he cooks Glizzys on his gary coleman mini grill that he keeps inside his locker and he waits until there warm and not fully cooked and thats when he enjoys a whole glizzy without taking a single bite he just slides it down his throat like a slip n slide. Another player on the team with a unique pregame ritual is Ethan Price who likes to take baths in fruit loops and milk because the milk keeps his skin smooth and he gets to enjoy his breakfest and relax while cleaning himself. Well thats all for this weeks special segment on pregame ritual.

Young Logo a well known and respected crow not only in the city of st louis but also in the smjhl. As a player with a voice and power to influence the youth you should always do whatever you can to make your community a better place and help those who can not help themselves. The crows always are volunteering at the local food banks to help the less fortunate in the area and even have built houses for the less fortunate to give them a nice place to stay. Young Logo has also opened a recording studio across the street from the stadium where local high school students and youth are always welcome to come record and make music. The reason behind opening the studio was to give the teens a voice that they have never had or even to just let their emotions out on the tracks. Teaching them how to use the equipment can open big opportunity and give them a chance to use equipment and the studio time that most of them normally would not be able to afford.

Task #7
Young Logo this offseason has been in the gym and the rink everyday and has been on a strict diet to get ready for his second season in the minors ending his first season with 265 TPE which puts him with the top players in his rookie class. One thing that Logo has been working on his Agility and Stamina because he would like to be out on the ice more this season and be able to skate circles around everyone and hopefully get more assists and goals in this upcoming season than he did in his first. Logo diet is very simple every morning when he wakes up he makes a protein shake using fresh fruits such as strawberries, blueberries, bananas, and raspberries. For lunch he grills a nice steak with peas every day because if you dont like peas its cause your bad. For dinner he just keeps it simple where he grills chicken breasts with rice and broccoli because that meal always slaps. Also being sponsored by bud light he drinks a 30 pack a day because full send or no send YURD.

7. For this offseason, Jöörgüštrâäd DuBølk will be doing intense conditioning, at the recommendation from his cousin Jøln. During the finals, he felt fairly sluggish due to going light on conditioning and weight training. Because of that, he wants to be in the best shape before the draft starts. When the draft is close to beginning, he plans on jogging to the stadium in his special blue and yellow suit, of course, themed around the Swedish flag, while simultaneously wearing full gear, skates and all, as well as bags around his ankles. When GMs see how much he takes his conditioning seriously, he'll be taken 1st overall.

Also, he plans on getting grit training from Joln. He was quite the grit master last season, but he's wanting to get tougher. The plan: get hit by joln as much as possible, then get hit some more. it's quite the regiment, but it works out quite well, as he's able to fight off attackers now.

8.

a) Obviously it's my player, Jöörgüštrâäd DuBølk. The amount of accents a name has is directly proportional to the quality of the name, so it's quite obvious who the winner is. No other name in this series even compares to Jöörgüštrâäd DuBølk, so best of luck to anyone that tries to say otherwise.

b) In the end, a hot offense can wear down a hot goalie faster than the other way around. It's been shown that the goalie is not the entirety of the defense, Now, if we're talking about looks, Chamberlain takes the cake. Dude is dreamier than my sleep paralysis demon ever will be.

c) Long story short, they needed to be more consistent than they have been over the past season. Both teams, especially Newfoundland, had trouble being consistent. Most games they dominated, but there were times where they were questioned over the effort put into the sport. With many players moving up fairly soon, it's gonna be quite the battle for the Berserkers.

d) For the Outlaws, it was Strom Chamberlain. He had been an absolute wall for them for the longest time, and it showed. While the defense did pretty well, Chamberlain tied it all together, and kept being consistent throughout the playoffs and even into the finals. He's the best the team has.

9. The playoff MVP award should go to my man Dwight Knight. Dwight, while also being a great user and is heavily dedicated to the Barracuda, has shown why he is considered to be one of the top prospects for the Tampa Bay Barracuda, alongside Ambacas Cuddles. Throughout the finals, he's shown great growth, and has demonstrated that he's a great forward overall: scores when he needs to, passes when he needs to, and even throws the body a bit. He's the best overall player on the Kracken, and he's the best overall player in this finals match. God speed Dwight, and good luck!

The Newfoundland Berserkers will honour sophomore centreman Lassi Suhonen next season, as they hold Lassi Suhonen Bobblehead night, giving the first 1,000 fans to arrive at the arena a Lassi Suhonen bobblehead said to bear an uncanny resemblance to the young Finn. The bobblehead will commemorate Suhonen's strongest game to date for the Berserkers, coming against the Carolina Kraken last season in which the young rookie scored a goal and added an assist, and was named first star of the game for the first time in his career. As a result, Suhonen Bobblehead night will be held during the Berserkers first home game against Carolina next season.

In today's article we will be unapologetically shining a spotlight on one of the biggest tropes in hockey - the goalie battle! As tired a storyline as it might be, the goalie battle is always important and impossible to ignore as we head into this Four Star Cup Finals series between the Anaheim Outlaws and Carolina Kraken. Goaltenders are perhaps the most influential players on a team, playing the full 60 minutes, and as such having the edge in goaltending provides a huge boost to a team. The trouble, of course, stems from the fact that while one goalie might be better, goaltending performance from game to game can vary wildly depending on a multitude of factors, so true performance is hard to predict. However, that won't stop us from analyzing the goalies in this series and giving the edge to one team! Lets look at our goalies.

Carolina will call on Frans Eller as their puckstopper in this series. Eller played 44 games this season, second most of any goalie in the SMJHL. He posted a .909 SV% which was 7th among all starters in the league, while his 2.43 GAA was fourth among starters. These are decent numbers, though not spectacular.

Anaheim, meanwhile, will turn to Strom Chamberlain between the pipes. This is the true strength of Anaheim, and if they're to win the Cup it will be off the strong play of Chamberlain in net. While he only had a .903 SV% and 2.89 GAA in the regular season, Chamberlain has been nearly unbeatable throughout the playoffs, and as such is riding a huge wave of momentum into this series after a big upset over Kelowna.

With all this in mind, the clear edge in goal goes to Anaheim. Whether that will make the difference in the series is unknown as yet, but they'll certainly be happy with how this matchup should play out.

A. Which player from either team has the best name in this series (just the name itself, nothing to do with the player themselves).
The easy choice here might be to choose Blunt Man from the Carolina Kraken, but that's low-hanging fruit. That choice is too obvious. I'm going to go instead with Panda Panico. Panda is doing a great service, bringing another panda into existence, which we need as it is an extremely endangered creature. Pandas are great animals, and are very cute, so they're a great namesake and that's why it's the best name in the series.

B. Strom Chamberlain has been lights out during these playoffs for Anaheim, but Carolina has had no problems lighting up goalies standing in their way these playoffs. Will hot goaltending or hot offense win out these finals?
I believe strong goaltending is going to prove the be the difference maker in this series. While Carolina's top scorers can make an impact, notably Jimmy Wagner, he only places a part of the game - perhaps upwards of 20 minutes at most. Meanwhile, Anaheim's strong goaltending is a presence throughout the entire game, frustrating not just Wagner but the entire Kraken lineup, and I think that gives Anaheim the edge in the finals.

C. You're in another timeline where Kelowna and Newfoundland are the two cup finalists. What went right for them in this timeline's semis compared to ours where they lost?
In another timeline where Newfoundland makes it through the semis, the big difference maker is simply capitalizing on their chances in game one of the series. This is a series that went to 7, but should have been won by the Berserkers in 6. Losing game one, in which the Berserkers outplayed the Kraken in every aspect, was a real tone-setter for the series and a tough loss to overcome. It turns out that it made all the difference, and as such the Berserkers have to watch from home as the Kraken compete for a cup.

D. We've been talking about the playoffs, but it's performance throughout the season that helped even get our finalists into the playoffs here. Who was the key player to success for either team (or both) during the regular season and why?
The easy choice here is Jimmy Wagner for the Carolina Kraken. Wagner was in a tight race for top point scorer in the entire league, finishing at 53 points in 50 games, tied for the league lead with Ryuuji MInamino. Wagner was the offensive catalyst for the Kraken all season, and won them games all on his own on some nights, making him the key player for their regular season success.

Write a magazine style article or make a magazine cover featuring a player comparison from any series matchup. You can compare player stats, etc. or get creative and compare their pregame superstitions or whatever.

Let's go all the way back to the first round of the playoffs, where the underdog Detroit Falcons took the number 1 seed Newfoundland Berzerkers to 7 games. On one side, we have right wing Ryuuji Minamino, who put up 17 points in 14 games while single handedly pushing NFLD through this series, and on the other side, we have center Sammy Blaze, who got a secondary assist once and still has that puck. But, let's compare pre-game meals. Minamino loves the chicken pasta bake his mommy used to deliver to him on game days in pee-wee, filled with tons of parmesan cheese and spicy red pepper pasta sauce. Blaze goes a different direction, as he demands only the best. A Baconater from Wendy's for lunch, and a baconater from Wendy's in the dressing room right before puck drop. And fries. He needs those fries as well. Actually, this may explain a lot.

How would round 1 have gone down if the team matchups had been different? Which teams would be advancing to round 2? Would it have been more evenly matched? Less?

Let's break this down:

If Detroit ended up winning a few more games and playing the Carolina Kraken in the first round instead of Newfoundland, that series would have likely ended a few games earlier than the first round lasted for either team. Carolina went 7 games with St. Louis, but I feel like they would have been no match for the Detroit Falcons, who would have steamrolled them in 5 games. Newfoundland would have then played St. Louis, who would have beaten the Berzerkers in 6 games. This would have led to a Detroit-St. Louis Eastern Finals, and Detroit would have swept them easily, as they are the best team and would have made yet another trip to the finals.

On the West side, Anaheim was always coming out on top, so it would have been Detroit vs. Anaheim in the finals. Detroit would have let Anaheim win game 1 as a courtesy, and then DESTROYED Anaheim in the next 4 games to win the cup in 5 games. Easy.

It's officially the offseason. Whether you just won the cup or didn't even make the playoffs, it's time to take a break and look toward the SHL draft. In 150+ words, tell us how you're spending your time this offseason.

Well Sammy Blaze had a pretty terrible rookie season playing on the 4th line in Detroit, and his draft stock tumbled because of that. Texas, for whatever reason, traded up to pick him so that's cool. It is unlikely that Sammy will be trying all that hard this offseason, because he knows it's just back to the 4th line when he arrives back in Detroit for training camp. If he were to try, he would likely work on his neck curls. Vision on the ice was tough for him, as Blaze spent a lot of time on his butt whenever he was on the ice. So being able to move his neck better would improve his peripheral vision and help him score more goals probably. Also, Blaze will be spending a lot of time on the lake this summer, learning how to swim. If Sammy drowns this offseason, it would hardly be surprising.
