Forwards

Hiro Fujikawa  Panthers @bana
A constant on Team Japan for several season now Fujikawa had a pretty solid SHL season putting up 16 goals and 22 assists for 38 points along with a +23 on a Los Angeles Panthers team that topped the western conference in points.

Daniel Smeb  syndicate @Kylrad
A pretty scrub player that only finished the SHL season with 31 goals and 39 assists for 70 points along with a +26, not even enough to finish with more points than players like Martijn Westbroek, maybe if Daniel Smeb played good they could finish ahead of the likes of Buffalo and Hamilton for once in the east, but perhaps he was saving all his energy for the IIHF

Parker Smeb  syndicate @O4L
Usually a defenseman for the Chicago Syndicate, Parker Smeb will be one of many SHL defenders playing forward for Team Japan, but calling Parker Smeb a defenseman anyways is quite generous, he did put up 17 goals and 38 assists for 55 points this season along with a +37 and had a massive 337 hits but he also had 140 PIMS, probably because he didn’t want to skate back and play defense so he just hit someone instead and took a penalty, this time however he doesn’t have Corey Kennedy on the team to bail him out on defense

Martijn Westbroek (A)  syndicate @JNH
Speaking of Martijn Westbroek here he is, he had a pretty insane season putting up 23 goals and 54 assists and a +25, but since the majority of those points were assists how much do we really think he contributed to all those points, does hitting your own teammate count as a hit, maybe Parker Smeb got those 337 hits by just hitting Westbroek taking the puck and scoring and then Westbroek still got assist credit anyways, regardless Westbroek and Smeb will be looking to replicate their SHL scoring success for Team Japan this season.

Monkey D Luffy  © Stampede @TnlAstatine
Another player who had a very successful SHL season putting up 30 goals and 40 assists for 70 points along with a +34 and was a big reason why Buffalo won the presidents trophy, he’s basically a better Daniel Smeb and Luffy combined with Smeb and Westbroek should make for a very scary top line.

Kit Smeb  syndicate @kit
Another one of the many Smeb’s on the roster, not sure how Kit Smeb keeps making the roster, maybe its just due to his connection with the other Smeb’s. Kit had 8 points and 21 assists for 29 points and a +26 with the Chicago Syndicate, not too bad, hopefully he doesn’t show up to the games drunk though

Rintarou Okabe  Stampede @ByrdeMan
Much like Kit, Okabe played a big shutdown role for Buffalo while also having 6 points and 15 assists for 21 points and a +19. If Okabe brings that play to Japan and maybe scores some more shorthanded goals to eliminate teams then Japan should be in good shape.

Ryuuji Minamino  Berserkers @Nhamlet
The first player on the roster so far who played in the SMJHL so far and what a season he had with 25 points and 28 assists to lead the league in points with 53 points and a +23, Minamino will be facing much tougher competition in this IIHF but it’s a great chance for him to prove himself and show his immense potential on a global stage.

Khan Smeb  Shl @stud
We had the first player on the roster who was playing in the SMJHL and now we have the first player on the roster who didn’t play in the SHL or the SMJHL, another Smeb on the roster somehow, who knows what his current skill level is but it can’t be any worse than Kit Smeb’s

Akira Ren  syndicate @Velevra
While Corey Kennedy may not be on Team Japan to cover up Parker Smeb’s defensive mistakes, a fellow teammate and defenseman now converted forward of both of theirs in Akira Ren is, with 6 goals and 22 assists for 28 points and a +26, Ren will be on babysit Parker Smeb duty all tourney to make sure he only gives up a maximum of 2 breakaways a game

Akashi SixNine  Steelhawks @FourFour
The last Defense playing Forward for Japan will be Akashi SixNine, a defensive monster for the Hamilton Steelhawks the past few seasons, SixNine had 5 goals and 24 assists for Hamilton along with a great +38

Ryu Jones  Outlaws @SFresh3
The first new addition to Team Japan from last years roster and a rookie to both the IIHF and Japan is Ryu Jones of the Anaheim Outlaws. Jones had a great rookie season with 6 goals and 22 assists and a +1 and this tourney could be a great chance for him to impress even more scouts before the SHL draft (if the tourney even happens before the draft).

Defense

Chico Smeb (A)  Dragons @xDParK
The last Smeb to make the team and the only one to be on Defense is Chico Smeb of the Calgary Dragons. Chico had a bit of a rough season with 5 goals and 16 assists for 21 points along with a -27, but Chico’s always came up big when Team Japan’s needed unlike some other Smebs (Parker).

Nicholas Owens  Stampede @Grum
Owens had a more limited role on Buffalo averaging about only 15:25 minutes a game but he still played that role very well with 4 goals and 9 assists for 13 points and a +17, Owens will be counted on quite heavily for Team Japan as one of their top D

Satoshi Zizagooney  Jets @TheWoZy
Off his first season with the Winnipeg Jets, Zizagooney will hopefully provide Japan with some offensive firepower from the blue line like he did for Winnipeg putting up 5 goals and 22 assists for 27 points.

Disisde Dayudie  Panthers @スウェグキング
Rounding out Japans top 4 D will be Disisde Dayudie of the Los Angeles Panthers, like Owens, Dayudie will see a much bigger role than he did in the SHL but he still had a respectable season with 6 goals and 11 assists for 17 points and a +22

Ryosuke Sato  Whalers @Dextaria
The second player on Team Japan to make the team so far from the SMJHL, Sato had a rough season on the Vancouver Whalers but most of the team did and Sato still logged heavy minutes for the team average 23:43 a game and getting 4 goals and 10 assists for 14 points

Jack Klompus Berserkers  @Toast
Rounding out the skaters for Team Japan is Jack Klompus, another player from the SMJHL and the Newfoundland Berserkers. Klompus had a great season like his teammate Minamino with 10 goals and 17 assists for 27 points and a +29, hopefully he can bring that play vs much stiffer competition for Team Japan

Goalies
Patrice Nadeau  pride @Fluw
After announcing his retirement Nadeau will be heading into his last tournament for Team Japan and hopefully leaving with a medal. Nadeau won 11 games for the San Francisco Pride in his final SHL season and had a .922 save% and 3.24 GAA.

Olli Saarinen, Jr  Specters @prettyburn
The other new addition to Team Japan, and a recent transfer from Finland and Japan’s goalie of the future. Saarinen only played 10 games for the New Orleans Specters but won 7 of them with a .897 save % and a 2.31 GAA

Honorable Mentions

Neg Rep  Shl @Carlz

Neg Rep unfortunately did not make the roster this time around, but if he keeps working hard maybe he will one day.
