Now you get out of here with that talk until I'm a rookie again.

An old man's dream ended. A young man's vision of the future opened wide. Young men have visions, old men have dreams. But the place for old men to dream is beside the fire.

That’s a great point Izz, with rebuilding teams why should a potential 1500 guy have to go to 0-50-0 TBB because the competitive teams ran out of money.
You would assume the 0-50 TBB team was going to sign the person instead of paying prospects more than an absolute minimum.

Just getting into the league and seeing the budget system I actually think there is only a need for maybe a minor change.

I think the changes to something so integral like the budget should be gradual.

The only thing I would change starting out would be I would like to instead of abolishing the HTD have it go down only one budget tier instead of two. After two seasons if things still need to be revisited. They should be.

How many of those 51 in the 1600 tier are actually paid at 5m+? Well I guess it could be 1300+ in the current system

I assume 51 - (16*2). So 19? Cause of HTDs

The idea is that the rebuilding teams wouldn't really need to rebuild because they're going to pick up the players that are too expensive in free agency or get some really great young players because the expensive players take up so much cap. I can't imagine TBB saying no to a Cassius Darrow right now just because he'd cost 8 mil or whatever is decided. @"cpetrella"?

I mean i might say no because he doesn’t necessarily fit our window but it wouldn’t be because of the cap @caltroit_red_flames

Regression is fine as is. It just needs to drop off further after the 20th season in the league instead of staying at 20% forever. With approximately just under 200 TPE that can be acquired in a season, a player that is at 900 tpe can stay there almost indefinitely.

Need to have it go to 30% > 40% > 50% at some point. If you look at the NHL, the amount of players that go on past 35 drops drastically, even more so after 38. The amount of players that go past 40 is absolutely minimal.

Going through the budget including some of the recent signings, there are 19 players with HTD contracts. You could argue for maybe one more since Buffalo hasn't used their 2nd and on the otherside, Winnipeg is using one for a sub 1k TPE player.

But in order to be those 20+ season guys you need to be a top earner as well, which diminishes the need for a change there. Looking at the Player analyze tool there's about 7 players that will be approaching or at 20+ seasons, and that's without considering Joe is retiring after this season, Rockefeller is either retired this season or will next season, and Bennett in that boat as well.

I'm not as deep into the league as some people but it doesn't seem like a big enough issue to change anything over, having a perennial 3rd liner on your team is... eh? But on the other hand players playing forever is unrealistic so there might have to be some bump ain like, their 18th season.
