920 words, lots of research/piecing together data sources, double IIHF media week
As lightly teased because I honestly didn’t think I could find the time or muster up the attention span, we have a look back at the 2nd round of the S46 draft! Like our look at the first round that I am sure everyone read, we are looking at these player’s performances in both their SHL regular season games as well as their IIHF round robin games. For SHL, this goes through S54. For IIHF, this goes through S53 because the tournament is taking place at the time of this writing (though I imagine it will be complete when I get around to finishing this and posting it, but the index is a marvelous source as I have learned if anyone wants to dive deeper on someone). As with last time, big shoutout to Luke again for helping me with some stats gathering! Let’s get started with our new #1 aka our #17 pick of the S46 draft class, which last time I said I’d consider it the most stacked class this site has ever seen but this time I feel like I am certain of it. One last disclaimer since I’m posting this during an update weekend - TPE is from before this weekend to keep it consistent and more easily comparable with the Round 1 post. I suppose a final, final disclaimer is this post will just be stats oriented without any kind of per player breakdown; after the last one I realized that generally the stats kind of speak for themselves. (Like last time, team logo to the left is the team that drafted the player, and team logo to the right is the team that the player played Season 54 with) 17. Overall the 2nd round had a few more players that weren’t able to live up to expectations as one would expect when compared to the first round, but there were still a number of steals in this round, especially with Smeb leading all S46 players drafted in the first two rounds in SHL points thus far. I wanted to do some honorable mentions with players drafted in subsequent rounds but I realized that I would inevitably miss someone and didn’t want to do that, but I know y’all know who you are, you studs.
