Nevada Battle Report Battleborn

Regular Season - Sim 4 Edition

BATTLEBORN RAM THEIR WAY TO FIRST VICTORY

It took 9 games, but the Battleborn finally did it, they won their first ever franchise regular season game. The sim was far from perfect, but Nevada's GMs and players are jumping for joy in the locker room, knowing that this is only the beginning. They had regressed in the shot differential department this time with the number coming in at -66 between the 3 games, although that number is bloated by the two losses, with the Battleborn only being outshot by 2 in their win.

Nevada played their first game against the Carolina Kraken, which was a rematch from the previous sims games, and lost that game 2 - 1. Nevada goaltender Phillip Weaver (@W19eaver) bounced back after his stinker of a performance against Maine last sim, keeping the Battleborn in the game until the very end with his best performance yet, making 49 saves on 51 shots for a .961 SV%. Unfortunately for the Battleborn, the Kraken had them in check most the night only letting them muster 14 shots on net. Battleborn rookie Chad Danger (@Arayvenn) scored his first SMJHL goal to bring Nevada within 1, with a minute to go in the game.

The Battleborn then had their 3rd game of the year against Maine Timber, who continue to have Nevada's number, this time shutting out Nevada 7 - 0. Phillip Weaver (@W19eaver) was pulled for the 3rd time this season and 2nd straight game against the Timber after letting in 7 goals on 49 shots. Although Nevada's powerplay was a sore sight to watch getting blanked 5 times while having the man advantage, their penalty kill though was a major positive blanking the Timber on 6 opportunities.

Finally we get to the game everyone has been waiting to read about, Nevada's historic first franchise win. That historic win came against the Detroit Falcons with a 3 - 2 score. This was by far their best game in terms of shot differential, only being out shot 29 to 27, keeping that number manageable will be the key to even more victories this season. Nevada forward Gavin Wallace (@SpontaneousCombustion) will forever go down in history scoring Nevada's first game winning goal early in the 3rd period, assisted by rookies Chad Danger (@Arayvenn) and Alexis Vermette (@treant). First line forwards Raivo Helminen (@jRuutu) and Zelma Zuntnere (@Jogurtaa) continue to battle it out for team leader in goals each scoring their 3rd goal of the season with the latter coming on the powerplay. Zuntnere (@Jogurtaa) appears to be Nevada's most dangerous forward offensively leading the team with 23 shots while rocking a very solid shooting % of 13% so far.

Now that the monkey that is that elusive first victory is off the Battleborn's back, the team can build off of it and continue to get better and try to gather a few more wins in the process. As always has been the case in this young season, the locker room moral continues to soar, but after that victory it has reached new heights. Cheers, applause and kind words are coming and going out to all corners of the room and I'm sure more then a few celebratory drinks are being had. The Battleborn are hoping they can turn their first win into their first winning streak and with games coming against the St. Louis Scarecrows, who are 2 - 5 - 1, and the Detroit Falcons again, this is really their best chance.
