This is pulled from Section 2, Subsection E, Article 3b:

Code:
If a player with a hometown discount is traded, their contract will count against the new team's cap of two players on a hometown discount. If the new team already has two players on a hometown discount, their contract will be adjusted to the proper amount based on their TPE.

Why is that the case? Is the purpose of the HTC not to be a team friendly deal for an established player in the city? Seems like the contract should be pushed back into its Tier since they aren't technically good buddies with the townies anymore, yaknowimsayin?

i mean, the way i see it, they arent renegotiating the contract. Most people would say that, for example, pastrnak took a discount to stay in boston, and if he were to be somehow taken by the kraken that discount wouldnt suddenly be voided

pls forgive me if this is bullshit i need sleep

Whoever applies for a team, make sure their main colour is fluro-something. That way when they win the cup, they can destroy the eyeballs of everyone dumb enough to use light theme for the next 2 months.

I definitely get what you mean, I think thats moreso applicable at the signing of the contract but once it has been signed there isnt much precedent for it adjusting up should the contract be moved, just because those were the agreed upon terms. For example, if the expansion franchise got a player on a HTD, but that players’ contract expired, the expansion team couldnt sign them to an HTD again on the new contract, so really its more about maintaining contracts that have been agreed upon, like i mentioned HTD’s that are traded follow the same protocol unless the receiving team already has 2 HTDs

formerly in the 7 team conference era (pre-Chicago/New Orleans) we took top 4 from each conference and then ran away.
then we got 8 teams and went to 5 from conference with division winners getting 1 & 2 seed
when we moved into FHM we reverted back to 4 team playoff with top 4  and div winners getting 1 & 2

For this one, unfortunately FHM6 is really limited when it comes to playoff options. For now the likely scenario is we move to a 12 team playoffs which as a whole I don’t think is so bad, 12 teams out of 18 making it is gonna be better for the league than 8/16 is right now imo, BUT FHM’s only 12 team playoff option revolves around a 4 conference system, which means the west and east will have 2 uneven divisions with 4 teams in one and 5 in the other, but we’re crossing our fingers on more playoff options being added down the line

Shouldn't they be picked first? Or can certain teams lose more than 2 players if they have an expansion GM on their roster?

After following the discussion about the salary structure in Hockey Talk Tonight episode #15 and reading about this expansion, i wondered if HO have talked about potentially introducing team ownerships? This could be a good time to drain some money from some bank accounts, ie it would be cool to be able to buy a club, referring here to Mike Izzy’s idea (every team has a value). The expansion could be used for this. Put a price on the new clubs (or make bids). Let the owner appoint the GM, with approval of HO offcourse. Just a thought that popped up.

They still count against each team's limit of two lost players. For example, if a player from HAM gets an expansion, then HAM can only lose one other player to the Expansion Draft. If two players from HAM go together - if either two of them win an Expansion bid or one wins and later names another their Co-GM - then they cannot lose anyone else.

They go last because we like having more excitement and spotlight on the other players who are going to found the new franchise.

I see what you’re saying here, but it’s kind of funny since NOLA benefitted from adding players on HTD’s from outside of the team.

Their departures are secured first, but they will be picked last. They can't be picked by the other expansion anyway, and it does more to start off the Expansion Draft by going right into the picks they've been working on.

We would discuss that if we first pick two players from the same team to be the new GMs. Or if they come from different teams, but both want Co-GMs from one of the teams they're leaving. I know that doesn't directly answer your question. It's a question that doesn't have an answer and at this moment doesn't appear likely to need one.
