Last night the Platoon GMs went into the draft with in a semi rebuild mode and came out with a solid core. They traded their 7th overall to gain an extra pick in the draft and have an extra prospect with an upside.After the draft, both Khan and Kearns were very excited about the new young team and believed they picked up a combo of players that could pose as a deadly threat to teams in the future.

11.Tobias Mortensen, C - The Belgium born center was dropped to the first pick of the 2nd round(11th) which belonged to Platoon after a trade with the Rage. The Platoon were really happy to pick up the player they were eyeing. The solid, long time active doesn’t bring much size to the table (he’s listed at 5-8, 176 lbs.) but Mortensen is a skilled player who excelled in the NWJHL because he was willing to go to tough areas of the ice and brought dynamic playmaking skills every night. In an SHL that demands skill as much as size (if not more), he could be a nice asset for a Platoon franchise that has just lost two star forwards.

19.Andrei Dubnikov, RW - The Platoon used the 19th pick to draft another forward with offensive upside. Also a long time active, Dubnikov ended up having a down season in the juniors, but the competitive winger will make his money by developing into a well-rounded forward in the future.

25.Marc Kuystad, LW - The Platoon sent their 7th overall for the 11th and 25th. This was possibly the main reason why. Kuystad is a gritty, in-your-face forward who can do work on the PK, PP and will succeed by working harder than his opponents. The major question surrounding him is his activity, but the Platoon wouldn't have drafted him if they didn't believe in him. He's a solid lockerroom guy and has the potential of growing into an alround, top 6 type player when his potential reaches its peak.

28.Magnus Risku, LW - The two-way winger probably would have been a higher pick if he wasn't so semi active, but questions about his upside are the concerns that made him drop to 28th overall. He has great hands, he’s not afraid to crash the net, knows how to find his teammates for scoring opportunities and to complete the package, he is solid in his own end. His hockey IQ is there but he’ll need prove to be active and sharpen his game before seeing any playing time on the Platoon roster.

35.Prince Zuko, G - The Platoon were able to draft a long time active in the 4th round who no one showed interest in. Zuko was a perfect 4th round pickup, a very solid English goalie. He is the type of player that simply does his job with a great attitude and work ethic. Also, by selecting a goalie, it shows that Fernando Garcia's time in West Kendall might be coming to an end. Zuko will probably return to the juniors next season to sharpen his skills and because Garcia and Andersson will be the number 1 and 2 goalie on the Platoon next season.

47.Tyler Myers - Myers is a steady, responsible defenseman but is not too active so limited upside. He will probably see time in the juniors because of activity but if Platoon need an immediate call up on defense, it'll probably be him.

The GMs mentioned that their top 3 picks Mortensen- Dubnikov- Kuystad are likely to be on the same line to build chemistry together and hopefully be a threat in the future. Khan claims them to be his ``depth weapons`` and they have a chance to prove themselves this season on the new and young Platoon roster.
