S56 PT #1 - Crossover

Jimmy spent part of the offseason cross training, first with Sara and some of her USC Track teammates and then with the USC football program as the Austrian winger shared both lifting routines and agility drills with the defensive backs. Surprisingly, Jimmy held his own better on the football field than on the track. While he was no lockdown corner back in the scrimmage he was invited to join, the natural agility refined with skating allowed him to at least keep up with most of the receivers, although he dropped a few easy interceptions with his untrained hands. The bigger struggles came on the track with Sara and her friends, with the heavier and out of track shape older brother was regularly a few steps behind the women's team's sprinters while the younger sister led them by almost as much. Convinced that he should stick to skating, and with a few new workouts in hand, Jimmy ended the week's excursion by signing a few pucks for both of the coaching staffs, with the promise that he'd be in the stands on his off days.

Goaltenders are known for their lightning-like reflexes and sense of anticipation on the ice. For this reason, Markus felt that the best translation of his talents would be...

...as a batter/field player in cricket.

Now, before you dismiss this idea as idiotic, keep in mind - when it comes to the batters' attire, they are fully padded on the legs, and are donning a mask with a protective grid, to prevent the bowler from accidentally exploding a couple of teeth out of the batter's mouth. So Markus is already comfortable with the batter's outfit. It's just a matter of learning the timing of the batting... But that shouldn't be an issue for a professional hockey player. And when it comes to being a fielder in cricket, a lot of it relies on reflexes and quickness of execution, as the ball travels very fast - and sometimes, very far - to the outfield once it's batted out. Once again, Markus would have to work on some aspect of the position (namely, having enough arm strength to throw the ball back in should it be close to the edges of the field), but his raw athleticism should carry him towards a starting position in any team in the ICL (Indian Cricket League).

Hugh Jazz would be perfect for the SBA, He might be able to be one of the better defensive centres in the league due to his size and his ability to move. He has a smooth skating stroke so his ability to run up and down the court should be effective. He doesn't have the greatest jumper but like, just the size of him will make him a great rim protector and someone that can finish around the basket and get offensive rebounds. He would be an old breed of centr, not one that can stretch the court and create spacing but he will create a lot of size mismatches down low in the post and that still could be useful in todays game. He just gotta be effective with his shots. I truly think he could just as dominate as he is now in the SBA and i am quite interested to see how he would do playing basketball.

For Vili Afalava the idea of crossing over to another sport is long past due. Growing up in Tonga there are very little ways to leave the island in search of a bigger life. One way that many Tongans go is they play the game of Football. Vili's older brothers Fata, Issako and Ezekiel all played football and went on to play college football at all levels of the sport. Vili naturally grew up playing with them and even becoming quite good for his age group and was sent various offers from college football teams in America but Vili's heart was always set on playing hockey and bucking the trend of his brothers. Vili did get to play in the famed Polynesian Bowl which is a special high school football game between the best Poly players in the nation. Vili played the 3rd and 4th quarter at his natural position of running back and his numbers while were solid. They were nothing enough to attract a school with both ice hockey and football programs. With 8 carries and 52 yards & 1 Touchdown, Vili was offered to play for San Diego State University but decided to focus his future on ice hockey, ending up in the WHL and now the SMJHL/SHL.

So clearly here we are going to go with basketball. Why basketball you ask? Well this monkey knows a lot about super monkey balls and monkeys are known for their jumping. Unfortunately for our superstar hockey player he is shit ass at basketball and is not going to hold up very well. Honestly we tried to go up againts high school ballers and he barely could hold his own against the youngsters of next year. So we see the mvp luffy sidelined for basketball for now but he'll still be a powerhouse on the ice. Maybe if they somehow make a basketball on ice sport luffy will be the front runner there as awell but we thought monkeys could dunk but this guy can barely keep the ball in his hand. He can only do lay ups and his shooting is pretty shit. Basketball on ice is like the max hype tho so that could be interesting.

For Nicolae Antonescu, a young child in Romania at the time, wanted to play ice hockey, specifically the position of goaltender. While hockey isn't the most popular and available sport there, football certainly was. Out on the pitch, the only place Antonescu found a home as part of the starting 11 was between the bars as a goaltender. Playing with his siblings as a child, he got enough practice stopping flying objects from entering the goal. The passion wasn't quite there, and it wasn't until finding a home on the ice that his goaltending skills became his career. If Antonescu were to step onto the pitch right now, the talent and athleticism would be there, but being used to a hockey net compared to the wide goalmouth of a football net would be a tricky adjustment, as Antonescu isn't used to needing to move around quite as much.

Bane's other job and occupation outside being a prospect for the Edmonton Blizzard is to simply take care of defeating Batman. He is Bane's archrival and when he's not training to become a future member of the Blizzard, he is planning as to how to completely bring justice to Gotham City and crush Batman's spirit and soul for good. In order to accomplish this task, Bane has also been training in his boxing skills, so that he can physically attack Batman in hand to hand combat from a superior standpoint. Bane, being naturally as strong as he is has become great at the lower levels of professional boxing, earning an undefeated record of 25-0 as of now with 25 wins by TKO. This has also allowed him to have better and stronger hands on the ice, making it harder to get the puck off his stick when he is entering the zone. The boxing training has therefore helped Bane in the aforementioned two primary activates he is involved with and looks forward to continually improving through his newfound boxing training.

I think Nick Connolly would do fairly well in a football league. Playing the power forward role for the Chicago Syndicate, Nick is a big bruiser who love to throw his body around in the corners and isn’t afraid of contact. He’s one of the top hitters on his team and is known around the league to deliver some big checks. I think if he could work on his agility, he would make a decent outside linebacker for a football team. Maybe he wouldn’t be the best, but with a ton of practice, he definitely has the body type for football. His personality also fits the description as someone who loves to hit already. I think that would be the sport he’d be best at. He could also look at say the PBE and play baseball but I’m not sure his hand eye coordination would be up to snuff. He does have some nifty deflection goals in his career but one could argue deflecting a puck and hitting a 100 mph fastball are two totally different skills.

Adrik Baranov isn’t much of a fighter. In fact, he’s happy to defer any kind of violence on the ice to his more aggressive teammates. I think that it would be interesting to have him cross over into a more violent sport, specifically boxing. When getting into the sport, I think he would do poorly. He might have the guts to go onto the ice and face down opponents in order to score goals but to get punched in the face is another thing completely. However, his conditioning is top notch and after getting over the initial jitters of a combat sport, he would be able to at least stay in the ring and not get gassed early. Next would be getting him to be more aggressive. While he’s been in fights before on the ice in particularly heated moments or line brawls, a fight in a ring is a different thing. A few pops to the nose or embarassments from not being able to throw well would fix that real quick though. One doesn’t become a professional hockey player as a coward or while being timid. The aggression would come and punching his opponent in the face while in the ring would become as natural as shooting the puck.

I have Lonnie Anderson over in the PBE and I'm not sure how well he'd fair coming over to the SHL. A big part of his background was that he grew up in Southern Ontario but never really got into hockey. He always liked Baseball way more much to the chagrin of his parents who were huge hockey fans. This only hardened Lonnie's heart and turned a distaste of the sport into an almost hatred. Skill wise, Lonnie is a catcher but isn't very quick. He does have very good defensive performance behind the plate though. If Lonnie was forced into participating in the SHL he would probably be a goalie because that seems to have the most transferable skill to him. I don't think he's be all that successful because you need really strong legs to be a goalie in the SHL and Lonnie can barely run to first base. His hand-eye also probably could use some improving with the amount of strikeouts he has. All in all, I don't think the transfer from baseball to hockey would go all that well for Lonnie Anderson.

EDM All-Time Leader in Goals, Assists and Points

Henrik Lekberg Osterman has always been a multi-sport guy. Although since going pro, hockey has definitely taken over which is understandable. Every summer when he goes back home to Sweden he does play some soccer with all his old friends in his old local club as well as some rugby. As far as soccer goes, the only thing that really translates in a meaningful way is the physical conditioning. Rugby is a little different as it has a lot more physicality than soccer. Communication is key in this game as well, as is spatial awareness and being able to read the unfolding play and react accordingly. Although the games are vastly different, there is some clear crossover which Henrik is able to make use of and take with him when he returns to the ice every winter.

Henrik has always been quite good at soccer and he enjoys it quite a lot. He finds it quite intellectually stimulating as reading the plan and creating space is a big part of the game. Same goes for rugby but he is definitely not as good at rugby as he is at soccer. The level of physicality as well as the big differences in the game and the way it is played really makes him struggle at times although he very much enjoys it still.

Corey Kennedy could legit play football. He grew up in Ireland playing Hockey and Rugby, so football wouldn't be a huge stretch of the imagination. If he were in the ISFL, he would be a Tight End, because well he has a "tight end". He is also pretty tall and has decent hands. His speed is above average, but not elite enough to play the Wide Receiver position, so I think he'd be best suited at tight end. He would be a top end talent for sure, but probably go unnoticed since he is not American. Naturally though he would blossom into a star player, who everyone loved to have on their team, much like Kennedy in the Simulation Hockey League has. It would be fun to see a lot of the sim league players play in the other sports, so maybe we could do a fictional crossover league with PBE or ISFL. Could be a lot of fun, who knows?

Kubinec is also a reserve driver for Mercedes in Formula 1. There was never any expectation for him to race as Hamilton and Bottas seem to be handling their business. But when Bottas came down with the flu, Kubinec had to race as the little known about Odessa Grand Prix in Texas. He qualified for the race in fourteenth position which was a little slow for Mercedes. However, at the first turn of the actual race, he dive bombed the field and crashed into Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton which set off a chain reaction that took out over half the grid. Kubinec managed to limp his car to the pits and even though he was over two minutes behind, he managed to catch up to the rest of the field and finished the race in third place behind the Haas of Grosjean and the Williams of Latifi. He went on to say how Odessa, Texas as the best fans and he was truly blessed to be here. He then received a lifetime ban from motorsport.

If Balzams never suited up in skates, he would most likely play baseball. Now baseball isn't exactly popular in Latvia, but there is something to be said about hitting something really hard. A good swing matches up well with a bomb from the point. Balzams would probably play right field, with a cannon of an arm. Balzams would rake at the MLB level, having a 0.330/0.425/0.550 slash line while playing gold glove defense. There would be no one to stop the Latvian, as no one would dare try to hit him with a pitch for fear of getting their face rearranged by the bulky right fielder. Balzams would win 10 MVP awards along with 10 gold gloves and 10 silver sluggers. He would clearly be the GOAT of baseball, so move over Babe Ruth, Barry Bonds, Mike Trout or whoever you thought the greatest was. It is clearly gonna be Balzams.

Prior to becoming an SHL player, Parker and his brothers were all top LoL players in the LCK with multiple regional championships to their names. During the off-season, Parker was bored and decided to attempt a comeback and return to LoL with a goal of achieving rank 1 NA by the end of the season and the ultimate goal of making the LCS by the end of the off-season. As NA as a region is so bad, Parker managed to achieve rank one in less than a week without much trouble at all even though he was playing on 200 ping from his home country of Korea. Parker mainly played tanks and made use of big brain tactics such as freezing, building support items on Ornn, and one-shotting the enemy ADC multiple times per game to get ahead. Parker received multiple offers from multiple LCS teams and ended up signing with CLG. After signing, Parker realized his huge mistake in signing with a team with such un-skilled players and got his much less skilled twin brother Kit Smeb to play the rest of the season in his place.
