A new week begins, as second week of S56 regular season is on. Kraken Carolina Kraken are looking to stay in the path in which they began their season with, they ended their first week with 8-3 record and stepping into this week their winning percantage stands at 72.7%.

First day they begin their workload against the Falcons Detroit Falcons, their first appearance of the season. First few minutes tell us nothing, and the game starts out easy for both teams. 9 minutes into the game the Kraken manage to wake up into the game, taking adavantage of their second shot on goal as Kozlov nails it, the Kraken take early lead. This moment leads to utter Kraken barrage as they pressure Falcons goaltender Thor Odinson with tons of shots. No luck though as Odinson keeps his goal safe after the first. Second period starts out with the Kraken in control. Falcons dont seem to get a foot in the game, as their opponents shut them down completely. As much as the Kraken manage to create chances left and right, they couldnt make the final move, Odinson keeps his net safe yet again. Third period, and its the same tale told again – the Kraken control the game and the Falcons dance according to their opponent’s bagpipe. Viewers being half asleep for almost 2 periods wake up to the sound of the Kraken goal horn as Kozlov banks his second of the game behind Odinson, extending their lead even further. Carolina squad seal the deal few minutes after as star rookie Freyja Hellström deflects Hennesey-Gallchobhar O’McGuiness’ point shot behind Odinson, 0-3 Kraken victory and a stellar shutout by Ragnar-Alexandre Ragnarsson-Tremblay.
Game 2 of the day and Kraken Carolina Kraken face the Scarecrows St. Louis Scarecrows for the fourth time this season. First three appearances going in favor of Carolina. Game begins as the last three times have told us before, Carolina Kraken taking control as Vincent Wolfe nails one past Antonescu. Kraken couldnt keep up their lead for long as Scarecrows tie the game as Grapefruit Lizard scores. This goal sets the Scarwcrows ablaze and it pays off in form of another goal by Marabelle Octive, end of first and St. Louis stands tall in lead. Second period the Kraken are on the way to catch up to their opponents, but regardless of their countless opportunities, they cant get past Antonescu. Meanwhile on their own end things arent as good as they used to be the last 3 games as the Scarecrows extend their lead 3-1 by Octive’s second of the day. Carolina Kraken havent been down 2 goals to the ’crows before so this game sure is different from the others. Adam Friedland starts the Kraken chase as he banks one in right before the horn. Kraken now have the mental edge over their opponents heading into third – and it didnt take long as Kyle Murray ties the game 3-3 few minutes into third blowing the game wide open for both teams. As both teams keep themselves clinched into the big W, it’s the St. Louis squad who take the edge.  Bud Weiser makes it 4-3 for the Scarecrows and right after Zbynek Dobrovsky scores, 5-3 for the Scarecrows. The mental underhand which they had didnt seem to affect them at all. Minutes go by and the Kraken score to make it 5-4, but it isnt going to be enough as Tanner McLeod gets one for the ’crows. Despite other attempts made by Carolina, they couldnt finish in time – and the St. Louis Scarecrows manage to take the edge over Carolina Kraken for the first time this season, banking in a win against a team to which they lost thrice already.

Day 2 of the week and the Kraken Carolina Kraken begin their workload against the Armada Anchorage Armada, their first meeting since last season starts out easy for both teams. Although the Armada seemed to have control of the game, its the Kraken who score first as Unger Oda banks their first one in granting them early lead. Minutes go by as both teams create more chances the further the period goes, without luck. First period ends in paperthin Kraken lead. Start of second and not much to tell, other than the Armada completely missing the net while on the other end Carolina Kraken get their second of the game as Panda Panico extends their lead 2-0. Armada starts their chase a few minutes after, but Blunt Man manages to keep his net safe regardless of the Armada’s artillery. Second period ends in Kraken having more comfortable lead. Heading into third the Kraken immediately take control as their opponents couldnt even shoot towards Man’s goal. Despite their numerous attempts the Kraken also couldnt take advantage on their chances. 3 minutes left of the game and the Kraken nail the coffin shut as Kyle Murray banks Kraken their third goal of the game. As no further events happen in the game, the Kraken shutout the Armada 3-0.
In their second game of the day they face the Raptors Colorado Raptors. Kraken are looking to bounce back from their horrendous preseason appearance against them, where they lost 5-1. Carolina squad clearly have a plan going into the game as they keep their own end clear for the first 11 minutes of the game not allowing the Raptors to even shoot towards their goalie. Control seems to be they keyword of the day as Kraken take the early lead by amazing slapshot by Adam Friedland. Kraken extend their lead a few minutes after Panda Panico scores from a rebound, 2-0 Kraken. Carolina keeps the shocktherapy going as not even a full minute pass as Stein Nilsen makes it 3-0 for the Kraken.  12 minutes in the game and the Raptors get their first shot on goal, followed by few more, followed up by Aumy Jr. narrowing the Kraken lead to just 2 goals. This concludes the first period as Kraken hold onto their comfortable lead heading into second. Second period starts out with another Freyja Hellström goal to make it 4-1 in favor of the Kraken. After this they put the pedal to the medal and start their barrage. Regardless of their numerous attempts the Kraken struggle to make the finishing touches in order to extend their lead. Meanwhile on the other end the Raptors get a lucky goal by Kristjansson to make it 4-2. Carolina Kraken wont allow luck to let them down as Vitek Vitecek scores for the Kraken. Same goes for Raptors as Rock Strongo answers back immediately. No changes happen after that and the Kraken have the lead but the Raptors have the momentum. Carolina Kraken realize that and they approach third period with more defensive display compared to the first two periods. Both teams manage to create few chances in the period with no luck and just few minutes left in the game Adam Friedland slaps another one in from the middle, 6-3 Kraken. Raptors couldnt be able to answer after that, concluding the Carolina Kraken victory.

Day 3, a new beginning. Kraken Carolina Kraken facing the Knights Kelowna Knights for the fifth time since postseason. All appearances going in favor of the Kraken, 4-0 with a whopping 20-9 goal differential. Both teams are going strong into the game, Carolina Kraken having a 2 win streak heading into the game while the Kelowna Knights face their opponents right after defeating the St. Louis Scarecrows 6-1. Heading into first the Knights seem to have their momentum going on as they take complete control of first 12 minutes, creating chances from left and right while not allowing their opponents to take shots on them, which is completely inacceptable by the Kraken side as they bomb the Knights, without luck though. Kelowna Knights take the early lead as Simon Takshak’s point shot surpasses Ragnarsson-Tremblay. First period tells no more tales and the Knights lead heading into second.  Carolina Kraken now trying to surpass Peter Ramsey, but its no use. As they fail to tie the game, Knights strikes again as Anna Pontecorvo makes it 2-0 for Kelowna. Carolina squad maintain attempts to get past Ramsey in the second, but without luck. Knights lead 2-0 heading to third. Last period of the game and teams go back and forth from and to end trying to score, but both fail to do so and the game ends in Kelowna victory.
Game two and the Kraken Carolina Kraken face the Armada Anchorage Armada. The Armada strike quickly during first minutes and on their first shot as Slava Petrov shows off early to give them the lead. Anchorage clearly having the mental edge early as they shut out Carolina from their end of the rink. Kraken manage to bounce back little by little to create bunch of chances without luck to get past Armada goaltender Stratton. First period ends and Anchorage lead 1-0. Second period begins with Adam Friedland tying the game. While Carolina did boost themselves after Friedland’s goal its the Armada who strike next as Vladmir Petrov deflects one past Blunt Man. Seconds after Taylor Gervais stands up to extend their lead for one more. Stein Nilsen manages to narrow their opponents lead down by one before the horn, Armada leading 3-2 heading to third. Carolina Kraken having immense pressure 8 minutes left in the game pays off as Panda Panico ties the game. Anchorage bounce back from a minor setback as Santtu Rasanen shuts off the Kraken squad cheers, Armada lead once again. Despite good attempts made by Carolina they didnt manage to tie the game, Anchorage with the victory over them.

Fourth day of the week and Kraken are looking to bounce back from their previous setbacks. Having lost against Anchorage and Kelowna, weaker teams on paper, have unsettled the Carolina squad. They start their workload against the Citadelles Quebec City Citadelles, with a convincing start as Adam Friedland takes the early lead for Carolina just shy under 3minutes into the game. First period continues go out with balanced approach from both teams, but Carolina come out on top yet again as Julian Cunningham extends the Kraken lead to 2 goals. The Citadelles cant get past Carolina goalie Ragnarsson-Tremblay as we go ahead into the second period with Carolina Kraken leading the game 2-0. First 10 minutes into second period both teams are looking to make the most out of their chances, with no luck before Quebec City makes the statistics team work for their money as Stan Q.Next banks one in. Ahead to third period we go in Kraken lead, and my oh my what a period that was for the Citadelles. Igor Petrov plays excellent at the blue, first winning the 1 on 1 against Kraken defender Ashy Larry, sending a rocket into the Kraken new right after – and after all that managing to sweep in the rebound, banking a great shot yet again for Jonas Caspari to finish it off easily behind Ragnarsson-Tremblay. This goal totally sparks up Quebec City as they score just minutes after by brilliant effort from Jasper Maximov. Quebec arent done yet as Ryan Rieley scores his team’s third unanswered goal. Julian Cunningham scores one for the Kraken inbetween the Citadelles who have shown work of art in form of a comeback. Regardless of Cunningham’s goal the Citadelles continue to control the game with Jonas Caspari’s brilliant effort which makes it 3-5 for visitors from Quebec City. Carolina looking to make a last minute effort with no luck, Igor Petrov shoots it into emptiness, 6-3 final score for the Citadelles.

Right after their defeat against Quebec City Citadelles they face Armada Anchorage Armada yet again. Carolina Kraken looking to bounce back after their previous loss against them, though it may not be easy as Anchorage takes the lead with just shy of 3minutes played. Armada continues to take more control of first period as Thorbjorn Gunnarson makes it 2-0 for Anchorage. Carolina answers back right before horn calls for the period to end as Bobby Bergen makes it 2-1. Regardless of the score, Anchorage really have the better hold on things after first period. Second period starts exactly like the first one, Armada in control and they open up the scoreboard for second period as TURG TURG extends Anchorage’s lead. Minutes after Pojo Biscuit makes it 4-1. Right before the period ends, Michael Withecheck makes it 5-1 for the Armada, who seem to live up to their name in this game. Anchorage’s bombardment continues in third period despite Carolina getting slightly back into the game, but with no luck they cant narrow Armada’s lead down – whereas on the other end Anchorage look to make their victory official as Matthew Sawful scores one for his team, 6-1 for the Armada. Last minute goal for Thorbjorn Gunnarsson makes it 7-1 for the Armada, an insanely sufficient game for them as they managed to score on every eighth shot on Kraken goalie Blunt Man. Carolina are now forced to make changes, being on a 4-game losing streak.

Day 5 and its time to see the winds of change. Carolina Kraken being on a 4-game losing streak are now looking to put an end to it, against the Falcons Detroit Falcons. A promising start to it as Panda Panico takes early lead for Carolina. Minutes later Adam Friedland scores their second goal, and they’re now completely in control. Grape Fruit also banks one in and its 3-0 now, and with seconds left Aleksander Kozlov makes it 4-0. With this performance it looks like the necessary changes were impactful. Second period starts with Carolina in control but the opposing Falcons score first as Sammy Blaze starts Detroit’s comeback – though it won’t last long as Linus Grimstad scored one for Carolina, and its 4 goal difference yet again. No more goals were scored during second period and as we go into third the Kraken lead 5-1. Carolina in complete control of third with Axel Foley scoring first in the period off a loose puck. Detroit squad still not discouraged despite their status in the game as Yngve Simonsson scores their second.  Seconds later, Wen Baters makes it 6-3 and Detroit’s comeback looks like true, but came out false. Carolina wins 6-3, ending their losing streak.
Next up Carolina faces Berserkers Newfoundland, their third one of the season with previous games going in favor of the Berserkers. First period is no different from others as Newfoundland more in control of events. Regardless of both team’s chances we stand at 0-0 as players hit the locker room and prepare for second period. Swift responses from Mattias Birdstrom and Jonas Kahnwald set up Elias Kierkegaard for a breakaway, and he clearly doesn’t miss those, Berserkers take early lead. Over the period Carolina take more and more control in the rink but it doesn’t add up to their lack of presence on the scoreboard. Horn sounds and we step into third period with Newfoundland in the lead. The Berserkers find their mojo during the break and its Mats Marner who steps it up to score, Berserkers take even more comfortable lead. Kyle Murray finishes off Carolina’s first – and sadly, their last goal of the game. Despite their numerous efforts and man advantage, they find no luck against Newfoundland goalie Cale Amundsen. Jonas Kahnwald nails the coffin shut with an empty netter to make it 3-1 for Newfoundland. Berserkers keep their undefeated record against Carolina.
Last but not least Carolina Kraken face the Knights Kelowna Knights. Rapid action in both ends as Knights player Fleetway Super Sonic first takes the lead for Kelowna, followed up by Aleksander Kozlov tying it up with in less than a minute. For a while there’s nothing to tell other than teams going end-to-end  but Unger Oda is clearly an exception as he lights up the lamp to make it 2-1 for Carolina. First of three down and as we go head into second period Carolina are indeed in control of the game with Vitek Vitecek extending their lead with beautiful setup by Panda Panico. Seconds later Unger Oda banks his second of the game to make it 4-1 for the Kraken. Kelowna Knights now in a desperate situation trying to start their comeback with no luck and as we go into third period in Carolina’s comfortable 4-1 lead, Knights have a lot to talk about during the break – and which they do. Great suggestions by Kelowna coaching staff pay off and their presence in the rink improved by a milestone. 8 minutes into third and we see potential Kelowna comeback as Brennan Huff narrows their opponent’s lead down. Potential well wasted as Carolina Kraken goalie Blunt Man doesn’t let Kelowna behind him anymore. Even when theyre a man down the Kraken keep their package together, and with Vincent Wolfe putting an easy one in Knights’ empty net, the game is officially over for home team. Carolina Kraken take a well deserved 5-2 victory over Kelowna, who bested them earlier this week.

Last day and last game of the week and the Carolina Kraken face the Scarecrows St. Louis Scarecrows.  Carolina in control of first ten minutes of the game but the Scarecrows manage to get themselves some time with the puck. No chances were capitalised and first period ends in zeros. As second period begins its anyone’s game at this point and they both know it. Despite Carolina being on top of events during second period, the Scarecrows take first lead as Colin Lambert is the first one to pass through Kraken goaltender Blunt Man. That goal being the only one of the period, teams head to intermission. Third didnt seem to offer anything from viewers perspective before Panda Panico ties the game, and the excitement is through the roof. Scarecrows pay the penalty with two consecutive penalties, latter one being the punishing one with Carolina Kraken’s powerplay standing up strong as Adam Friedland’s fiersome blueline slapshot surpasses the St. Louis goalie. Few minutes later Linus Grimstad passes Antonescu – and the Kraken extend their lead. Even an extra attacker wont help St. Louis in this situation, and Carolina take home the victory.

This concludes the second week of Carolina Kraken. They played 12 games during that time, finishing their week with 6-6-0 record and a 2-win streak, clinching them 3rd spot in Eastern division and 7th overall in the league.
