Kelowna's veterans and their future

There has been a lot of talk about the new faces of Kelowna this season. We're talking rebuild and building a new core, but the Knights were lead by veterans from S55 who had the challenge of dealing with a young team who through trial and error are looking to develop themselves. They did their best on the ice while the club was struggling to find its chemistry. Let's take a look at Kelowna's behind the scene to find the accomplishments of players that were already in Kelowna.

Fleetway Super Sonic - Defense - S55

This season
Fleetway gave all he had every time he stepped on the ice this season. He played through 20:53 of TOI, and average 2:08 in SHTOI. His outstanding defensive IQ was put to the test this season and he showcased his ability to limit opponents every chance he had. Super Sonic had a 71 Defensive Game Rating, and still found a way to get 20 points, including 15 assists. Fleetway's experience showed helpful to give more opportunity to the young offense, and he did not hesitate to put up a good fight when he could defend his teammates and Kelowna's honor.

The future
In terms of TPE, Fleetway is ranked 4th in San Francisco's depth chart of defenseman. With O'Callaghan not getting younger, Fleetway should have a chance soon to have a spot with the Pride, their defensive core being relatively young and full of interesting possibilities.

Teddy Park - Defense - S55

This season
The captain did a remarkable job to work his the rookies and dominate the ice defensively. Recording an incredible 83 in Defensive Game Rating, Park also is tied for the league's highest Game Rating, at 71. Playing almost 24 minutes per match, Park is not shy on the ice, dominating the opponents with 112 hits this season, and blocking 76 shots. His dedication to the team and good communication with rookies as well as management, Park's commitment to Kelowna on and off the ice is a perfect example of what makes a true leader.

The future
Teddy is ranked 5th in terms of TPE in the Baltimore Platoon's depth chart at defense. Their young defensive core will be perfect for Teddy to fit in, as one of their most promising prospects currently. With the versatility Park showed this season, it's easy to expect him to play in the SHL in no time.

Peter Ramsey - Goalie - S55

This season
Peter Ramsey had a big challenge this year. After winning 28 games in Season 55, he now had to guard the net from an unexperienced offense, which means turnovers, and more shots coming his way. In 35 games, Ramsey faced 1188 shots this season, versus the 1040 he faced last years in 42 games. Despite this Ramsey posted a robust 72 in Game Rating, and remained competitive whatever opponent he faced.

The future
Ramsey is ranked 2nd in terms of TPE in the Edmonton Blizzard's depth chart for goalies. The starter position of course is reserved for Emiko Spector, who is not ready to step down, but the backup position will be up for grabs between their 2 young prospects : Ramsey and Bloomfield. Peter's determination and bravery will make him a contender and he it's easy to see him joining the SHL sooner rather than later.

Chris Goodname - Defense - S55

This season
Another defenseman from this phenomenal class of season 55. Chris Goodname joined the Knight's defensive core to help the younger Knights find their way on the ice. Goodname had a 65 Game Rating, 34 takeaways versus 21 giveaways, And a strong presence on the PP as well as the PK. The veteran played on both ends of the ice and showed no problems adapting to any role his team needed him to be.

The future
Chris Goodname is ranked 7th in terms of TPE in the Calgary Dragons's depth chart at defense. The Dragons still have a robust defensive core, but the top 5 on their depth chart are playing through their 12th to 18th season in the league, so it's possible Goodname is the future to take over when the defensive veterans will be affected too much by regression. Ultimately, it's a great opportunity for Chris to have the chance to be mentored by one of the SHL's greatest defensive cores.
