Apparently, it is a tradition in St. Louis to announce these late, but this may just take the cake, seeing as how the following season has now ended. With apologies and without any further delay, here are the S55 St. Louis Scarecrows Team Awards.
Our first award is the Joe Kurczweski Award for Most Dedicated. This award goes to the player who lives and breathes the Scarecrows on and off the ice and keeps the team pumped up. This year's recipient is Kriss Darzins. @lilstifler The second award is the Mika Kandinsky Award - Best Two Way Forward. This award goes to the player who takes care of the team on both sides of the ice. This year's recipient is Eric Hudson, who also won last season. While the offense dipped a bit in Eric's 4th year, the defensive side stayed strong with 29 hits, 29 takeaways and 103 blocked shots. The third award is the Basil Magnicotta Award - Best Defenseman. This year's recipient is Elwulf Jericson. With 81 hits and 93 blocked shots, Jericson locked down the defensive side of the ice, while also chipping in 16 points on the offensive side. @Jericson The fourth award is the counterpart to the last one, the Barrett Blackwood Award - Best Forward. Chipping in 32 points, including 11 on the powerplay, this award goes to Kriss Darzins. Next, we have the Friedrich Schmidt Award - Best Goaltender. This award unquestionably goes to Nicolai Antonescu. The rookie netminder faced 1300 shots in 2600 minutes played and turned away nearly 1200 of them. @Rancidbudgie The sixth award is the Aron Hernadivic Award - Most Activity in the LR. This is the player who is always active on gameday, pumping the team up, celebrating the wins and commiserating the losses. This year's recipient is Colin Lambert. @rum_ham The seventh award is a very important one. The Vladmir Bodnar Award for best Rookie Season is given to the player who leaves it all on the ice as a rookie and really works hard to make the team better. This year's recipient is Bud Weiser. 60 shot blocks, 51 hits and 3 fights, this rook really made an impression! @budweiser It was an unfortunately short trip through the playoffs for the Scarecrows this season, but the Nicolaj Muller Award - Playoff MVP goes to Colin Lambert. With 2 points, 7 hits and 9 shotblocks, Colin did his best to keep us in the series. The final award is the Nicholas Williams Award for Regular Season Team MVP. It shouldn't be too shocking with the other award wins as well, that this year's Season MVP is Kriss Darzins! It's been a pleasure having Darzins on the team and we wish him all the best in the SHL. In Memorium: It's been mentioned before, but I feel it warrants mentioning again. The Scarecrows lost an integral member of the locker room with the sudden passing of Alex Dangel (Sasha Dangelchek). We honored Dangel by retiring his number and sending his name to the rafters where it will live forever in the St. Louis Scarecrows Hall of Fame. Dangel loved being in the locker room and loved being part of team leadership. He appointed himself Assistant Captain Forever, or AssCapt4Eva. He even changed his Discord name to "AssDangel4Eva". To honor him for the S56 season, our second Assistant Captains spot was left vacant. Code: 555 words Member of Team Prospects North America - S51 WJC, Team Captain
