Today was the day that Bean Beanman decided to break his rookie slump and finally score a goal. It was a crisp morning for the Beanmeister. He knew he had to play a few games today, so he started his day like he usually does when he must play later. He sits on his toilet and drops his kids off at the pool, so they do not slow him down during his games. He makes sure that he 4-ply Gabe themed toilet paper is ready to do its job. This cold winter morning felt different to Bean, he was not sure why it felt different, but he felt like he was finally going to pot his first goal of the season and finally take that extra step. Bean made sure that this feeling was going to stay so he put his best suit on, his favourite socks, and put an extra glizzy in his pocket to keep Gabe away so he does not kill his vibe.
Bean started his 1993 Toyota Corolla which he dubbed, Old Faithful, due it never breaking down and almost at a million kilometers. Many friends and family have tried to get Bean to buy a new car with his newfound wealth, but he knew he could not give up on Old Faithful. It never gave up on him, so he was never going to give up on it. As an alternate captain in his rookie year, Bean naturally gets a spot near the entrance of the building. As he parked his car, he stepped out and found a coupon to the local grocery store that would give out a free can of Beans if Bean scored his first goal. Bean thought to himself, was this a sign from the hockey gods or bean gods that he was going to score his first goal in the SMJHL. Either way he knew something special was going to happen and he was ready for it. Bean walked into the arena, dabbed up the security guards, and threw the glizzies at Gabe. Everything was going right for Bean and he was ready for his time to shine. The first game came and went without a win. More importantly, Bean did not light up the lamp – he wondered to himself if he was just overhyping himself for his performance. As Bean started walking back to the locker-room, he found ANOTHER coupon for a free can of beans. This simple little coupon was all that Bean needed to bring back the motivation. Bean started skipping to the locker-room to get prepared for his next game.
Finally, after waiting so long for his next game Bean stepped on the ice and he felt it in his bones that he was about to score. The next thing you know the puck is coming towards Bean and he is on a breakaway with no-one in between him and the goalie. He knew this was his moment – all he could hear in his mind were the lyrics to Lose Yourself by Eminem “You only get one shot, do not miss your chance to blow.” Bean closed in on the goalie and snapped one right by for his first goal of the season. Bean finally had his first goal of the season and now has 2 free cans of beans waiting for him after the game.
The Armada went on to win that game and the one following – they have not lost since Bean scored his first goal. Some would say it is just coincidence, but Bean says that it is not rocket appliances and that he is reason for the winning streak.
