Welcome to the second part of our special Knightly News report. Last time we took a look at just how the Rookies are doing and now we are going to be looking at the Anchorage Armada who finished first in the West right above Kelowna.

The Armadas Rookies have been putting up some great numbers and we can clearly see that they are one reason the team is doing so well. Overall I think Armadas rookies are on par with Kelowna's Rookies. One of the biggest things we noticed in Armada was that their rookies heavily focused on passing the puck around. Most of them have 15+ assists this season with Gregory Goode racking up 30 assists. Thats crazy!! Kelowna's closest to that was Gerry with his 20 assists. Despite that though these Armada rookies are struggling a bit in the goal department. And that's not to say they haven't tried. Many of their rookies have shot counts of 100+ with others in the 80s and 60s. These rookies are definitely causing a lot of problems for goalies. It is a great thing that us at Kelowna have some rock start netminders.

One thing that caught our eye was the amount of power play points these rookies have. They clearly have been able to capitalize on penalties. This is something we will have to be careful of as we enter the playoffs. Yes we are looking at you Teddy Park. If we can stay out of the penalty box that will give the Armada less chances to score off that.

But lets get back to looking at these rookies. The Armada picked up most of these rookies in the second round and they all have been great picks for them.

Now some areas of concern when we look at these rookies is that they all enjoy their time in the penalty box a bit. Everyone has at least 10 minutes in the box. This has a chance at hindering the team and hopefully if we happen to play them in the playoffs we take these chances to capitalize when these are given. While there are clearly some rookies that help the team a lot like Gregory and Paul the +/- drops off significantly after that with David even sporting a -10. While we don't want to bring that player down we do believe this is an area of concern for the Armada and something we at Kelowna could be aware of.

Now the big question that everyone is dying to know. Which team has the better rookies. The answer is closer then we would like to admit but we feel that Kelowna still has the better rookies. Their ability to pass the puck around and be able to score a good number of goals shows us that they can come through when needed. From our review Armada rookies are great at helping their fellow teammates score but lack in the ability to finish it themselves. Armadas players are also a bit more rowdy as we often see them in the box. Overall the atmosphere and friendship the Kelowna rookies have will turn out to be better in the long run as well. This will especially be prevalent once the Armada rookies no longer have their teammates to help them score.

This has been Knightly News and we are excited to see how all the rookies across all teams hold up under the pressure of playoffs. Best of luck to everyone and go Knights.

Approved, +5 TPE @Hazack
