Welcome to New Orleans!!
It has been an interesting time in the SHL so far for Boyle, in the SMJHL, Boyle was selected ;later in the third round at 32OA, and now has jumped 20 of his classmates to become a first rounder in the SHL. Over the course of his the first half of the season, Boyle struggled, putting up little to no points and seemingly being out of stamina and doing horribly while Vancouver also struggled. However everything seemed to change leading up to the playoffs, and ended up being the top scoring rookie in the playoffs, with 7 goals and Vancouver had a minor run for a team not expected to do much. After this explosive performance, Boyle shot up the mock drafts, with him being mocked anywere from the 8->15 range; Despite this there were two spots were the the big beanheads seemed to think he was going, the main consensus was the Manhattan Rage, Boyle had a nice scouting interview with them and they apparently made it known that they were in the market for a New Create who was also a winger meaning someone like boyle fit the mold. The 2nd team that shot up on the boyle hype train late was Tampa, this was a surprising one for boyle, as the rumors of boyle at 8 seemed to come out of nowhere and Tampa only started scouting boyle on draft day, 2 hours before the draft. Other possible landing places seemed to be Atlanta, if Pavel Jeziak was taken before 9, there is a good chance that they would have opted to pick Boyle, Texas might have been another one, as there were rumors of them being interested in Boyle at 13, but it was unlikley as they needed a defensive prospect. The final two teams were the specters and the aurora, who both made their intentions of possibly picking boyle very clear. However Boyle did not think there was a high chance of him making it to their pick. However New Orleans also realized that the chance of getting Boyle would be difficult even with the 14th pick, and they had a desire to get a strong trio to build a strong core for the future of New Orleans, and decided to trade their way into the first round trading 2 seconds and a 3rd to move up into the 18th OA pick. But even with that pick, New Orleans feared the rumors of Manhattan possibly taking boyle at 12, so what did they do? They traded another 2nd plus the 18th overall pick to take Manhattans pick from them then take boyle with that pick at 12. This pick was one of three for New Orleans, with Friedensreich Hundertwasser being selected 6OA, and Ole Oleson selected at 14OA, both of these people were part of the Birddog Juniors Tournament, in Dallas, making a strong core of users who know each other well and will be able to get along in the locker and build a culture good enough to win it all in New Orleans in a few seasons when they all get called up. New Orleans seems to be going all in on this core, with 8 young players in the development league while their starting lineup is full of older of aging player with only 5 players who are not in regression on their roster. This seems to be a huge rebuild with players like Boyle being one of the guys expected to be a star for new orleans in the coming future.
