SHL Post Draft Analysis - D and G (2x Draft Media)

In my previous media I went through all the forwards in the draft class. There were a ton of them. I was hoping to write about the Defensemen and Goalies of the draft class prior to the draft, but I just did not have enough time, but I still want to write about the remaining members of the draft, so I will do so with some added information about what team drafted a player and what pick they were taken with.

Ole Olson is a left defenseman from user Amidships. With his most recent update he skyrocketed to the top of the draft class with 382 TPE. He doesn’t have much money right now with only 75,000 in his account, but that might be because he spent it all on coaching. Olson played for the Carolina Kraken of the junior league last season and had 28 Points. Olson went in the first round at fourteenth overall to the New Orleans Specters.

Finn von Murphenstein is a right defenseman from user r0tzbua. He is also a member of the Carolina Kraken and 22 Points last season. He’s only 1 TPE behind the lead with 381 TPE. He’s also got a decent bank account still with over 9 million in his account. Murphenstein went eighth overall in the draft to the Tampa Bay Barracudas.

#A-Rye Izzy is a right defenseman from user Mike Izzy. That sure is a name right there. Izzy is a long time SHL user and won 3 cups and is in the hall of fame with his first player. He’s got a massive bank account with 117 million. He’s playing in the junior league for the Kelowna Knights and had 18 Points last season. Izzy is one of the Calgary Dragons general managers, so he was taken in the second round as is the sim league rule for general managers in a draft.

Zayne Rotzbua is a left defenseman from user Inverted. It’s funny that there is a user r0tzbua and then a player with last name Rotzbua, but they aren’t the same. Rotzbua has 364 TPE, which is fourth best in the draft class. He’s currently got just under 6 million in his bank account, and he plays in the junior league for the Vancouver Whalers. Last season he had 21 Points for the Whalers. He was drafted 15th overall in the first round by the Winnipeg Aurora.

Gerry Atrick is not only a very funny name, but also a left wing from user MrRuihu. In the tpe tracker he is listed as a Defenseman, but I guess the tracker is wrong. Atrick is playing in the junior league for the Kelowna Knights and had 25 Points last season. He’s got 338 TPE right now and has over 19 million in his bank account. Gerry Atrick went at the top of the third round at 37th overall to the San Francisco Pride.

Billy Brooks is a right defenseman from user supertardis101. He has 332 TPE and just under 3 million in his bank account. He plays in the junior league for the Newfoundland Berserkers where he had 11 Points last season. He was drafted 16th overall to the Buffalo Stampede.

Richard LaFleur is a right defenseman from user Kierkan. He has 330 TPE right now and over 7 million in his bank account. He had a great season last year playing for the Kelowna Knights of the junior league where he scored 30 Points. He was drafted 10th overall in the first round by the Calgary Dragons.

Gregory Goode is a defenseman from user Keenan playing for Anchorage Armada in the junior league. He’s currently got 329 TPE and went second overall to the San Francisco Pride. Keenan is a long time member of the SHL and has over 52 million in his bank account.

Bjorn Jakobsen is a defenseman from user siddhus playing for the Quebec City Citadelles in the junior league. He’s got 328 TPE and was drafted 26th overall to the San Francisco Pride. Siddhus is a new user to the SHL, but has experience in other sim leagues.

Narboza Manyhands is a defenseman from user nyumbayangu playing for the Vancouver Whalers. He’s got 321 TPE and was drafted 19th overall at the top of the second round to the San Franciso Pride. Manyhands has just under 8 million in his account, which is decent.

Well, I was going to go through all the defenseman and the goalies in this draft class, but I’ve run out of time for this double media, so I need to get this piece submitted before time runs out. So instead there is the top ten defenseman in the draft. I also want to add a special shout out to the number one overall pick, which was Luc Blouin from veteran SHL user DrunkenTeddy.  In case you were unaware he has over 139 million in his account. My team, the Tampa Bay Barracudas drafted him with our first overall pick. This is a really strong class for the defenseman. I feel like even though there were more forwards in the class the defenseman were overall a slightly better group, which is reflected in the tracker where eight of the top ten players by tpe are defenseman. Now to finish out this article I want to look at the one goalie who was actually worth drafting in this draft class.

Kit Kirkstone is the only goalie in this draft class to gain more 20 tpe. Of the six goalies in this draft class four of them are at the base 155 tpe and the other is at 174 tpe. Meanwhile, Kirkstone is sitting at 250 TPE, which is not bad at all. He has a pretty decent sized bank account with over 89 million stored up. His user is Grapehead, who has been a member of SHL for a while and has even been a GM at one point it seems. I was surprised to see not a single team drafted Kirkstone in the SHL draft, but maybe he expressed his desire to spend his career in the junior league? Either way he is the only worthwhile goalie in this draft class. That concludes my article. Some team should pickup Kit Kirkstone in free agency.
