The next award we have is the Joe McKeil award handed out to a set of coaches (team), who we think best set their roster up for success. A good coach will not only put their players in the best position to win but will look to have a team that achieves overall success.

Here are the nominees:

Chicago Syndicate- They have a really talented roster and it showed getting balanced scoring from every player and all their lines performed. It was hard to distinguish top and bottom players on the team as they had 9 players over 50 points and finished second in the league in points with an impressive 50+ win season.

Hamilton Steelhawks- They are an absolute dominant machine having 8 players over 50 points. Hamilton had the most points this season the second least goals against and first in goals for dominating opponents on most nights.

Edmonton Blizzard- They led the west in points and goals for. They had some big studs that carried the line and the coaches got the best out of players especially in Finn-Rhys, Tokolosh and Scholz and did not have many holes in their lineup.

Texas Renegades - A younger roster that is finally coming into it’s own and had a breakout season as a team. Texas was able to really excel this season showing a bit of force finishing third in the western conference with 90 points (five points back of first in the west).

And the winner is…….

Switching back over to individual player awards, next up is the Ron Mexico award given to the player deemed to be the most impactful in the league in a given season as voted on by the awards committee. Extreme performances beyond that of other players in the league are important to consider while team success can also be a factor here. All aspects of play should be looked at here and not just simply points or goals as it is an all-encompassing award. In addition, the Sarmad Khan Award which is given to the most valuable player as voted on by members of the SHL community had a similar top three nominees to the Ron Mexico award.

Here are the nominees for the Ron Mexico and Sarmad Khan MVP Awards:

Los Angeles Panthers Forward- Jimmy Slothface (33 goals, 54 assists, 87 points, 102 hits, 35 takeaways, 34 shot blocks and 52 CF% in 66 games)

Hamilton Steelhawks Forward- Michael Scarn (36 goals, 57 assists, 93 points, +54 rating, 129 hits, 36 takeaways, 32 shot blocks, 67.2 CF% in 66 games)

Edmonton Blizzard Defenseman- FR Finn Rhys (15 goals, 46 assists, 61 points, +43 rating, 121 hits, 36 takeaways, 191 shot blocks and 64 CF% in 66 games)

The winner of the Ron Mexico award is……. Jimmy Slothface @slothfacekilla !!!! The star center of the Los Angeles Panthers was an absolute work horse for a team that found itself in the middle of a tough battle for playoff seeding the western conference. His 33 goals, 54 assists and 87 points ranks him 10th, 2nd and tied for 2nd overall amongst all skaters league wide. What particularly stands out for Slothface is his huge point total, which was 16 points clear of the next player on his team and one of just 3 players on the team to achieve a point per game clip or better. He also played 25 minutes a night which is a lot more than any of the other top forwards showing his importance to his team. Without Slothface Los Angles would be a lot worse off in comparisons to the Hamilton's, Chicago’s, Buffalo’s and Edmonton’s “top player” because of LA’s lack of depth making him unanimously voted as the most valuable player and there was not any debate against Slotheface throughout the voting process.

The winner of the Sarmad Khan Award is…..Michael Scarn @Trautner !!! Scarn was an absolute best this season collecting 36 goals, 57 assists and 93 points, 5th, 1st and 1st overall league wide. Much like the previously mentioned Slothface he was also a terrific defensive player. The knock here is he's the top producing player on a top team filled with talent, but much like Slothface he's also 16 points clear of the next Steelhawk on the points table. With this being said it was not a surprise to see the SHL community vote Scarn as the most valuable player in season fifty seven as he had absolutely incredible season stats wise.

Continuing with the MVP trend, the next award up is the Anton Razov award given to the most valuable player to his team during the playoffs as decided by the committee. While not necessarily from the winning team, the awards committee often see the winner and nominees from the winning finalist team. However this award covers the entirety of the playoffs, not just the finals.

Here are the nominees:

Chicago Syndicate Forward- Gunnar Soderberg (11 goals, 11 assists, 22 points, 18 hits, +2 rating, 11 takeaways, 11 shot blocks in 24 games)

Chicago Syndicate Forward- Nick Connolly (9 goals, 14 assists, 23 points, 42 hits, +14 rating, 11 takeaways, 26 shot blocks in 24 games)

Hamilton Steelhawks Forward- Dick Clapper (8 goals, 10 assists, 18 points, 24 hits, +14 rating, 6 takeaways, 22 shot blocks in 14 games)

Gunnar Soderberg @sköldpaddor !!! Soderberg was the goal leader for the entire playoffs with 11 goals and was a huge difference maker in the playoffs for Chicago. With 4 game winning goals, Soderberg came up extremely clutch for Chicago when they needed him the most. He was also only 1 point back of the overall playoff point leader. At the end of the day I don’t know if Chicago would have won the cup without the clutch performances and steady offensive play by Soderberg.
