FHM Era per-game leaders
#1

With season 57 in the rear view mirror and season 58 on the horizon, let's pump the breaks and take a moment to compare the historic 5th season in the Franchise Hockey Manager 6 Era to the first 4. Of course the most recent one was different from those previous with the jump from 50 games to 66, so it's more difficult to compare how players did this season versus in previous seasons. One way to get around this is to look at stats per-game, which is what I'm gonna be doing in this media. To make things easier on myself and more fair (I think), I'm only gonna look at players who played at least 90% of the games in their respective seasons, so 45 games in a 50-game season and 60 games in a 66-game season. I won't be looking at goalies since their numbers are more easily comparable over a different amount of games. Without further ado, let's look at some stats!

Goals

1. Berserkers Mats Marner ( C ) - 0.64 (32 in 50) - Season 55
T-2. Falcons Edward Williams ( C ) - 0.60 (30 in 50) - Season 53
T-2. Outlaws "Long" John Donair ( LW ) - 0.60 (30 in 50) - Season 56
4. Citadelles Zdenko Beranek ( C ) - 0.56 (37 in 66) - Season 57
T-5. Knights Jaska Seppala ( LW ) - 0.54 (27 in 50) - Season 54
T-5. Raptors Sven Svenson ( LW ) - 0.54 (27 in 50) - Season 55

The top goal scorer from the new era cracks in Quebec City's Zdenko Beranek cracks this list with 37 goals in 66 games, a 28-goal pace over 50 games. It's still not enough to touch the top three though, as a player will need at least 40 goals over 66 games to get over 0.6 goals per game, and at least 43 goals to beat Newfoundland's Mats Marner's incredible 0.64 goals per game.

Assists

1. Berserkers Matthew Forester ( C ) - 0.76 (38 in 50) - Season 54
2. Berserkers Ryuuji Minamino ( RW ) - 0.70 (35 in 50) - Season 55
3. Falcons Edward Williams ( C ) - 0.68 (34 in 50) - Season 53
T-4. Armada Chris de Siren ( RW ) - 0.66 (33 in 50) - Season 55
T-4. Kraken Axel Foley ( LD ) - 0.66 (33 in 50) - Season 56

Nobody from season 57 was able to crack this tough list, with Colorado's Josh Dolphin coming the closest, getting 43 assists in 66 games, a pace of 0.65 per game. Just one more assist in the same amount of games would have gotten him into the top 5, an assist in exactly two thirds of the games. To top Newfoundland's Matthew Forester's seemingly untouchable record, a player would need to get 51 assists over 66 games.

Points

1. Falcons Edward Williams ( C ) - 1.28 (64 in 50) - Season 53
2. Berserkers Mats Marner ( C ) - 1.24 (62 in 50) - Season 55
T-3. Armada Chris de Siren ( RW ) - 1.12 (56 in 50) - Season 55
T-3. Berserkers Ryuuji Minamino ( RW ) - 1.12 (56 in 50) - Season 55
T-5. Kraken Linus Grimstad ( C ) - 1.08 (54 in 50) - Season 55
T-5. Whalers Daniil Nikiforov ( C ) - 1.08 (54 in 50) - Season 56

Once again no player from season 57 was able to crack this list, and the closest came within one point. This time around it was Quebec City's Zdenko Beranek, who's 71 points in 66 games got him just shy of 5th place, as this was 1.076 points per game. Talk about splitting hairs. To reach the top two, who are leagues ahead of the others I might add, a player would need to get an unbelievable 85 points in 66 games.

+/-

1. Falcons Guy O'Shea ( D ) - +0.88 (+44 in 50) - Season 53
2. Falcons Toki Wartooth ( D ) - +0.79 (+37 in 47) - Season 53
3. Armada Pojo Biscuit ( D ) - +0.78 (+39 in 50) - Season 55
4. Citadelles Jari Heikkinen ( D ) - +0.76 (+50 in 66) - Season 57
5. Citadelles Boris Petrov ( D ) - +0.74 (+49 in 66) - Season 57

Insert joke here about +/- being the most important stat. Haha that's a good one, gets me every time. Here we see two new names, both from the Quebec City Citadelles, Jari Heikkinen and Boris Petrov, with a +38 pace in 50 games and a +37 pace in 50 games, respectively. On top of this list is Detroit's Guy O'Shea, who is leagues ahead of his competition with +0.88 per game. To beat this a player would need to be +59 or better in 66 games.

Penalty Minutes

1. Citadelles Boris Petrov ( D ) - 4:13 (211 in 50) - Season 55
2. Raptors Juni Panda ( RW ) - 3:19 (219 in 66) - Season 57
3. Battleborn Raivo Helminen ( C ) - 2:50 (142 in 50) - Season 56
4. Timber Valentin Kalashnikov ( D ) - 2:42 (135 in 50) - Season 55
5. Citadelles Boris Petrov ( D ) - 2:19 (116 in 50) - Season 56

It seems like ever since Quebec City and Nevada came into the league, everyone's spending a lot more time in the box. Maybe this was kickstarted by Quebec's Boris Petrov, who spent an average of 4 minutes and 13 seconds in the penalty box per game, nearly a full minute more than the next highest, Colorado's Juni Panda who set a record this season with 219 penalty minutes in 66 games. Over 66 games, a player would need 279 penalty minutes to spend more time than Boris Petrov did in the box per game.

Hits

1. Citadelles Boris Petrov ( D ) - 6.52 (326 in 50) - Season 55
2. Raptors Juni Panda ( RW ) - 5.29 (349 in 66) - Season 57
3. Battleborn Raivo Helminen ( C ) - 5.08 (254 in 50) - Season 56
4. Raptors Juni Panda ( RW ) - 4.84 (242 in 50) - Season 55
5. Scarecrows Luc-Pierre Lespineau-Lebrunette ( D ) - 4.32 (216 in 50) - Season 53

The top 3 on this list are identical to the PIMs one, with Quebec City's Boris Petrov being way ahead once again, throwing his body 6 and a half times per game. Colorado's Juni Panda is again the newest addition to this list, although this is a name we've seen on here before way back in season 55, and continue to see today. If a player wanted to somehow beat Boris Petrov's record, they would need a bone-shattering 431 hits over 66 games.

Blocked Shots

1. Timber Will Windsor ( D ) - 4.20 (185 in 44) - Season 54
2. Timber Will Windsor ( D ) - 3.20 (160 in 50) - Season 55
3. Battleborn Vili Tugatugaboatu ( D ) - 2.82 (186 in 66) - Season 57
4. Outlaws Emilia Bergman ( D ) - 2.76 (138 in 50) - Season 55
5. Scarecrows Bud Weiser ( D ) - 2.74 (137 in 50) - Season 56

We might as well just call this one the Will Windsor list, although this season's newest addition, Nevada's Vili Tugatugaboatu, has knocked one of Will Windsor's season into 6th and off this list. Tugatugaboatu had an impressive 2.82 shot blocks per game, but what's even more impressive is that 186 is one single shot block more than Will Windsor's record, however it took 22 more games to get it. If a player wanted to block more shots than Will Windsor in a single game for some reason, they would need to block 278 shots over 66 games, more shots than some backup goalies faced this season.

It's interesting (at least to me) to compare and contrast different seasons, especially when there's a key difference such as 16 more games. It's also neat to see that with all the seemingly crazy high stats, none of these per-game records were broken this season. I'm not too sure what this means, maybe teams have had to rely on depth more with their star players getting tired, or maybe it's just a down season stat-wise, we'll have to wait and see if either of these are the case in the coming seasons, starting with season 58 which starts this Friday, February 11, at noon Eastern.

Solid article. I wonder how the FHM stats compare to the STHS stats overall. Really like how you scaled it down to a per game to compensate the fact that we've moved from 50 to 66 Games played.

Thanks Zoone!  Heart FHM vs STHS would be interesting to look at for sure, maybe in another media piece

individual stats are probably higher due to a less even distribution of goals for better teams. Overall though there is no goal inflation or penalty inflation between eras.

Which ultimately is a good thing imo. I’m just giving ideas for a future article or two. Wink
