Written task: Whether you were just drafted, you just made the plunge to the SHL, or you've been here forever, nothing is better than payday! What are you doing with the money you just earned for another season of playing hockey? (150+ words)

Last season was the first time I decided to parlay in the SHL casino and I cashed out big by earning an extra $12M. With this extra earning I am planning to save a lot of it for my next re-create. However, this off season I donated a lot of $ to local charities in Edmonton and Vancouver to help get through the COVID pandemic. I am very frugal with my money so I tend to not splurge on myself, but I plan to get a gaming PC setup for my apartment so I can have a proper environment when gaming and not just play on a potato laptop. I also would like to get a 2nd monitor as well because constantly alt tabbing between things is very tedious when I could just take a quick glance at another monitor. I have heard of those super wide monitors though so I need to do more research on that before committing to my new gaming PC setup.

I do not have the largest of paychecks, but it is still more than the common human with a standard nine to five job. So I can’t complain too much. As far as what I do with the money, that is a secret I wish not to disclose on an open forum. One cannot be too careful when dealing with their private life, plus the government is probably monitoring this post. They do not need to know where my money is any more than the average user of this site. While all these others are spilling the beans on what they do with their money, mine will remain unknown. I will let the average user guess as to what I do with my money, but if I had to a gun to my head, I would just tell people I ate it. Ducks will eat just about anything and tbh, a couple dollar bills would feed me for the day. You can’t really get a meal for a few bucks these days, so I think I’m coming out on top.

Liam Slate is not much of a big spender, he is more of a saver and some may call him cheap. Liam Slate likes to save his money because the reality of life is that if you spend it all while you are younger, you will not have as much for later in life or young offspring. THis is why Liam Slate's bank account is going to be as stacked as possible, no random spending. Slate is responsible and wants to keep his bank account as high as possible while not putting in a lot of extra work. If Liam Slate decides to have an offspring, they will be set for life both in regular life and the SHL life if they are to go down the path of the SHL. If Liam Slate was going to splurge his cash money, it would be on a nice house that is not too extravagant. It would also be nice for Slate to spend some of his earnings of a nice pure bread pupper. THat is how Liam Slate plans to spend his pay check for playing hockey this year!

Gerry Atrick is a man of not so simple pleasures. He wants to spend his money on super expensive things, flying to Lake Tahoe to eat at Gordan Ramsays newest restaurant, with the man himself. check out the beautiful scenery and golf course, maybe catch the NHL outdoor games in the next couple weeks (Super exclusive) and still be able to make it back to Kelowna with enough time to hangout with his teammates and hit up the local hotspots as well. He's blowing his first season contract on a fancy car, maybe he'll open up his own place for the locals to enjoy anytime they want and get to see some of Kelownas best players off the ice as well. He's also prone to spending way too much on steam and buying the latest games, binging them for a few days and moving on to the next one. as such, he would also make a fabulous youtube reviewer.

Payday is pretty important because that is when I get my contract money ($5,000,000 this season). I think it's important to manage your money, so I don't spend all of my contract at once in order to keep a healthy bank balance and save cash. Normally I spend most of it on equipment and dig into my reserve in order to pay the rest of the equipment fee; the rest of my money goes into (and stays in) my bank account unless I need to buy my weekly training. Unlike my more exciting teammates who spend it on girls, booze, and cars, I try to be common sense and only spend money on expensive things when absolutely necessary. Sure, I buy groceries and video games fairly often, but I don't buy a new phone, car, watch, or maybe even house until I deem it absolutely necessary and needed in order to enrich myself. Common sense spending is important, kids. Don't go bankrupt.

Sven is becoming a bit of a veteran in the SHL and is now entering his 3rd season in the league. Add on another 4 seasons in the SMJHL and Sven is pretty used to getting a nice pay day. He’s already made many of the major purchases that young players do early on in their careers, Sven has a nice house in the Bay Area (that took a whole season’s contract), cool condo in downtown Denver to visit the Raptors and go skiing, and a couple of nice cars (his favorite is the Tesla SUV). Now that Sven has those basics that every wealthy person should own, he has turned his attention to investing his earnings. Sven has taken up investing in both the public markets as well as in Venture Capital stage companies through his connections in San Francisco. It’s become so fascinating to Sven that he often thinks about the software companies he has invested in when he should probably be focusing on his game.

Over the past year or so of SHL hockey, Axel Foley was pretty straightforward with his spending. Training, coaching, new equipment, and the odd sandwich or burrito were the only expenses. I mean, my guy is just moving into his 2nd season in the SHL and is making 2 million a year. However, with sponsorship money coming into the picture prior to this season, Foley is proving that he is not a smart spender. A combined 8 million dollars have gone to self-portrait art pieces. Seems a little narcissistic, no? Sure, he has a hundred mil in the bank and plenty more money on the way, but that just seems excessive.

Art isn't the only 'art' Foley is going big on, he has also begun splurging into his passion for music. He likes the techno pop kind of genre, but that doesn't stop him from splurging on an electric guitar (for if you are a musician without an electric guitar, are you even a musician?). He's gone big into the soundboards, mixing tables, buying beats off of soundcloud rappers, the whole 9 yards. But again, plenty money.

Beyond the scope of the arts, Foley has moved up in the world from Subway and Mucho Burrito. I mean, shit, he still yonks a burrito every now and then but he has taken to the fine dining experience with teammates. He goes for all you can eat sushi and purposefully buys stuff he can't eat to up the bill size. After all, you can't be looking cheap in front of potential suitors out for sushi. When the team goes out for a steak dinner (minus Julio) Foley has finally offered up to cover the entire bill, and on nights out to the bar he's had to duct tape his pockets closed so he can't drunkenly reach for his wallet to buy drinks for everyone he sees.

Moral of the story is; Foley is a 22 year old guy with a shit ton of money, he is irresponsible as fuck.

trains are fun and economical.  Plus you get to see scenery in areas that you can't see by jet or car.

So I bought a train.

Having just been drafted in the shl by the Tampa Bay barracuda, Luc Blouin is still early on in his career and this is only his 2nd big payday, his draftee free agent year he made a bit of money as well but now that he's had two good sized paychecks he's starting to be able to spend a bit more on his lifestyle. Right now playing in Detroit Luc has bought himself a penthouse apartment, he didn't want to do the full house investment and go to the effort of maintaining a house while playing junior hockey. Once he is ready for the shl he will take the plunge into full home ownership, probably down on the Tampa Bay area. Aside from the apartment there hasn't been too many crazy expenditures for the young defender. He did treat himself by buying a pearl white Range Rover though.

Recently I received a windfall of some money due to some income from the league. Throughout my life in this league I have been known as "a broke idiot", and recently the income of $12 million really bolstered my income! It's been very nice to have this money and not have to constantly worry about where my next training will come from. With this, I decided to work on my TPE allocation, and moved around some of my training to more effective traits. Now I'm down to enough money to last me the season's training, but not the kind of security some of the rich people on the site have like Jason Desrealulexux has (he has much money). My plan going forward is to invest in the same type of earning potential that last year's earning got me, and never have to worry about money ever again. If anyone wants to give me money that'd be nice too. haha. Thanks guys, big money for a cool guy.
