S58 PT #2 Payday!

(This post was last modified: 02-16-2021, 01:23 AM by Arkz.)

This season, after getting paid and getting the bank account restocked, Jon St. Ark has one thing on his mind: setting up for the future. He has a wonderful condo in Vancouver (good luck trying to afford anything bigger, even on a professional sport salary), but that isn't going to be his home for forever. Ever since the S57 draft, Jon has had his eyes on the southern city of New Orleans and joining the Specters. At best, St. Ark only has two more seasons in Vancouver before he'll be called up full time to New Orleans, and there's no time like the present to look for a new home. The city of New Orleans is beautiful, though very different from Vancouver and even more strange compared to his original home of Innsbruck. Still, St. Ark tracks down a beautiful multi-bedroom home in the same neighborhood as some of the current New Orleans players and gets to work making it his future full-time residence.

I am hoarding my money from my contract #roadto100 baby. At my very core, I am a gambling man, and as of late, my gambling has paid off with me making $12 million last season from the casino. That is twice what my contract of $6 million pays me. The casino winnings pay the $8.5 mil needed for coaching, and the remaining plus my weekly twitter (now at $600k instead of $300k) pays for my weekly $1 mil trainings. An additional $2.5 mil for being a fantasy manager (easiest job on the site) plus $1mil for doing fantasy, and now $2mil for getting IIHF gold (and usually between $500k-$2mil for medaling, which we have done every season since the switch to FHM) means that my contract is just extra money, and I would still max earn even if I didn't make as much. Unfortunately for my team, no stress for me, I am already at the lowest of my tier.

The big pay day. Something we all hope for in this league. I look forward to the day the contracts come rolling in because that is by far the biggest payout I will see each season. I guess this has to do with my lack of a job and tiny brain that cannot produce worthwhile media to save its life. Granted the structure for coaching is a lot cheaper than other leagues, I just have not found a good way to make consistent earnings. Right now all my money goes towards weekly training that I have neglected for so many seasons causing me to fall way behind the others in my class. Maybe if I get on the earning train I can finally start buying coaching more consistently and maybe one day I will retire this player with a solid bank for a pending recreate. I feel bad asking for a good chunk of money out of the budget but my GMs seem to see something in me to entrust such large funds in my player.

Personal coaching, new equipment, night out with the boys.

Who needs that?

Training? Family time? A house?
I bought WEED STOCK.

high tide, tonix, sundial, you name it. If they produce cannabinoid products, I got it. 2.5 MILLION worth in stocks. Do you invest in stocks? I know I do. Do you like @Gooney ? I do. He invests in stocks. You like nour? He does stock. At the Hamilton Steelhawks, we are all stock holders. We spend everything on the NASDAQ. The TSX. the others ones that i cant name. Its all in there. Blackberry? Air Canada? PLTR? We got that. GME? We werent smart enough to get in early on that but thats ok.

Listen. What you need to know is that the Hamilton Steelhawks Trading LTD stays winning. To be a Steelhawk is to be a winner, and going in the red is not what a winner does.

Cian has become quite invested in his future past his hockey playing days. With the market going crazy recently, he's noticed that there is potential there to invest and keep funds growing for years and years to come. Rumors have surfaced that he's even asked to have his next contract paid in Dogecoin but nobody has confirmed its validity yet. McFelter is so excited about investing into the stock market that he has been parading around the locker room offering to help anyone that's interested in getting into trading. Cian has been checking his phone consistently in between practices and games, looking at his portfolio and will talk to anyone that will listen about the hottest stocks and which ones are dropping like flies. Hopefully, Cian has some good sources of information, because this new obsession could bankrupt him if he's not careful! Apparently he still has hundreds of shares of GameStop stocks!

Ahahahahaha!

Money! If we speak about the SHL world then all my money is focused on training! I spare no cent to graphics or gambling it around. All I do is focused on improving my player. So if I imagine Chris Goodname as the real person he would not spend his money on funny unnecessary stuff. I'm sorry if it sounds boring but it would be true. His character is devoted to dedication. He already got his first big contracts so mostly it would be dedicated to increase his fitness or any other way to make some improvement for playing hockey. I mean things like move into a house or apartment closer to the arena. The apartment must be big enough to have a training room. Kitchen with big enough fridge. Also, Chris would buy a car that would help him as long-term improvement. I mean no renting! Gadgets that sense some physical criteria or something. Oh my God! Now I sound obsessed...

All the money I earn I invest to myself. I have build training facilities to my backyard with three million dollars I got paid this season from Seattle. I also invest myself by buying healthy food, healthy smoothies, healthy drinks and all kind of equipment which help me to recover better from practises and games. I want to maximize the length of my career and that happens only if I stay in a good shape and healthy. The best skill you can have is to have an ability to be always ready to play and never injured. My idol William Karlsson has missed only eight games during his Vegas Golden Knights career so far. He is the kind of iron man I want to be also and follow his footsteps. In the future I plan to invest even more my training facilities and environment at home and learn even more what kind of stuff I should buy with the all the money I have to play as long as possible in the SHL.

As a toad, Samat Beibitzhanov now has honestly little use for money. A large house has little use to him, and lacks the necessary insect population for Samat to eat. In addition, the position of the home on top of a skyscraper, danger of getting stepped on and lack of an adequate toad-sized parachute make his original home, which is perched atop a skyscraper after it fled its original Manhattan location. The home is now for sale for anyone interested. Now he lives in a park near the stadium, feeding on the numerous insects that populate the area. Most money now goes to finding a person who can adequately train a 2 inch long toad how to be a hockey goalie. With little expenses besides hockey, most of Samat's money now goes back to his family, who miss him but are seeking to undo the curse placed upon him by the stat wizard.

As a proud Scotsman, it really irks me that the importing of a proper, Scottish, heather-bred haggis is illegal in the US. So I spend a good amount of money travelling back to the highlands in my off periods, to hunt myself a wild one!
The art of haggis hunting is dying out in this modern world. The secret is to hide yourself in a bush, work out if it’s a highland or lowland haggis, as this will affect the direction of travel (for those uneducated buffoons among us, wild haggis have one leg longer than the other, for travelling round the hills and mountains they occupy. Highland haggis travel clockwise, lowland anti-clockwise), and look closely for their tiny Tam-o-Shanters peeking out from among the heather. The best time to see a wild haggis is dawn or dusk, where they frolic freely on the desolate freezing hillsides. Obviously you need to hunt them with something small-bore, or you’ll end up losing all the oatmeal before you get it home and skinned of its ginger pelt!
So that’s what I do, I return to the highlands and hunt wild haggis! Slàinte!

Sweet sweet payday! Obviously the first thing my paycheck goes to is paying the bills. Living in San Fran isn’t as cheap but dam it is worth every penny when you see all the gorgeous ladies walking around. Next part of my check goes to my trainer to is helping me get more prepared for the SHL every week. Then after that it is time to make it rain and party on! I am able to go out and eat at my favorite spots around town, still looking for that perfect Pizza place. I am also currently renting my house looking for a place to buy so I am trying to be responsible and put some of that money away to save for the down payment. Other than that most the money is spent on the road trips checking out new places and taking in some of the sites the other cities that host us have to offer. And to be totally honest I have spent a few dollars at the gentleman’s clubs as well bars out partying.

The grind for money is all with one final goal in mind: training. The more money I make, the more I can improve to perform better on the ice. Every last cent of this contract will be going into what I need to do on both a weekly and seasonal basis in order to be the best that I can possibly become. While the three million deposit is a nice influx to the account, this only accounts for 3 weeks of training and does not even begin to cover what I need to spend in the off-season in order to stay near the top of my class. While it would be nice to think of stuff like a nice big house, fancy cars, and other assorted toys, this will all have to wait until retirement. And what a retirement it will be with lots of great food and fancy things, but until then, it will be a grind of earning enough to stay competitive. In my off time I have started writing opinion articles for the local papers to help supplement my income. This combined with my partnership with Twitter and that team contact, should hopefully be enough to keep me afloat.

For Kata Vilde money means only one thing. training, training and more training. Vilde is fighting off regression hard and his ancient groin is barely holding together. For 18 seasons he's been playing and the only way to stay at a high level is to train. Alot of people will tell you equipment is the way to go but if you can't move your damn body anymore all that shiny new equipment won't be worth shit. It also is good to set an example for the younger players, to see an old veteran like Vilde training consistently, week in and week out. He takes no days off. They claim it's all about the team in front but they would see quite quickly if Vilde let go of his training he'd be putting up absolute shite numbers and wouldn't be in the league much longer. So that's what the cash is all about, training hard so you can keep earning it.

Splurging newly acquired funds has never been an issue for pro athletes, and those in the Simulated Hockey League are no exception. Many athletes spend so much money in so many places that each qualifies as his own economic impact study. The money that comes with those big contracts doesn't go to live with athletes; it barely spends the night before moving on to some retailer or entrepreneur or uncle who wants to start a restaurant.

Yan Dolff is one to put a bit away, but is certainly not shy in laying out some large piles of cash. While Papa is still in jail, there is still a good reason to buy that overpriced mountain top cottage for mother. She also has a nasty taffy habit which will run about $1k a week. A good portion of the money though is being spend on a fleet of luxury yachts, to be loaned out to other overspending players. Yan figures he can easy manipulate other players into giving him their money. After all, they need to spend it somewhere.
