Season 58 has been going pretty well for the Quebec City Citadelles so far all things considered. As of their 29th game, they’re not only first in their division, the East, but first overall in the league with a record for 21 wins, 4 Losses and 4 over time losses, giving them a magnificent win percentage of 0.793 percent and placing them just ahead of the Kelowna Knights in the league standings, 46 points to 45. Quebec City’s season began with the draft. With their 10th overall pick they selected Right Winger Shane Duffy Jr. With their next pick they select Left Defenseman Kappa Kappa and with their final pick of the S58 Simulation Major Junior Hockey League they selected Left Winger Big Boss. I would say this draft was a pretty successful one for the Citadelles all things considered. Given that Duffy Jr. and Kappa sit on 260 and 255 TPE respectively as of the time of writing this, and Big Boss sits on a fine 203 TPE, pretty good when you consider the fact that he was a bit of a later create than the other two draftees, and looks to be a steal for the Quebec City Citadelles relative to where he was picked in the draft.

The Citadelles got off to a nervy, but exciting start to the regular season, where they pulled out a thrilling 4-3 victory in a shootout over the Anaheim Outlaws. In that game Mikael Koskinen, Igor Petrov and Mew Two did the scoring for the Citadelles, while Mew Two, Bjorn Jakobsen and Yuuto Kira Cloudera Jr. picked themselves up some assists for their troubles. This narrow victory began a 6 game winning streak for the Citadelles, where they had a combined aggregate score in those games of 25-12, versus Anaheim, Carolina, Vancouver, Detroit, Vancouver again and capped off with a win in Maine against the Timbers. These games included a whopping 5-0 of the Whalers in Vancouver where Igor Petrov, Mew Two and Ryan Ridley all picked up goals, Zdenko Beranek collecting the other two. This winning streak sadly came to an end however at the hands of the Colorado Raptors, in a thrilling 4-3 shootout loss which saw Yuuto Kita Cloudera Jr. and Zdenko Beranek picking up the goals for Quebec City. This was their longest winning streak of the season. Their biggest win of the season so far came recently, in Game 27 vs the St Louis Scarecrows, where they managed to net a fantastic 7 goals and shut out the Scarecrows while they were at it. There were 6 different goal scorers in that game with Mew Two, William Salming, Brian Davenport, Jasper Maximov, Boris Petrov and Jari Heikkenen all finding the net, with Heikkenen scoring twice.

On a stats side of things, there leading goalscorer among the team is Brian Davenport who sits T-4th in the league on 13 with Zdenko Beranek close behind him on twelve. For assists it’s a three way tie with Zdenko Beranek, Jasper Maximov and Igor Petrov all sittting T-2nd in the league on 16 each. Defenseman Boris Petrov is a very violent player apparently, leading the league in both fights and hits sitting on 7 and 144 respectively. In terms of blocks it is Left Winger Kev Kevens who leads the team on 52. The team themselves are 2nd in average goals for, sitting on 3.86 per game, and wildly are also 2nd for goals against, on a low 2.1 per game, showing just how sound they have been on both sides of the puck this season.

Approved! +5 TPE @LB3737
