Newfoundland Berserkers Game Reactions for Day 13 and 14

Pregame Coverage: This recap will be different. I’m just going to recap the game and give out Zerk of the Game because I’m so far behind after a busy two days.

Game 31: Newfoundland at Carolina
We love beating Carolina. Great game for beating Carolina as it really wasn’t all that competitive as Newfoundland won by a score of 6-2.

While Ric Charlesworth had a great game scoring two goals Zerk of the Game honors goes to: Billy Brooks for a supreme performance from the blue line with solid defense and two goals.

Game 32: Newfoundland at Nevada
We’ve struggled a lot when traveling to Nevada for some reason. Losing a difficult game 3-1 but one of those goals was an empty netter.

Zerk of the Game honors goes to Evgeni Petrov. Petrov was sensational in net and only allowed two goals against a solid team. He’s already had several shutouts this season and SHL GMs should be looking at this guy as a potential first round pick!

Game 33: Kelowna at Newfoundland
Hey a really solid game for the Zerks in a loss. Kelowna is one of the best teams in the league and things like this happen. It’s tough to get mad about but easy to understand the disappointment. Zerks lose 1-2.

Zerk of the Game honors goes to: Robert E.O. Speedwagon. Both Speedwagon and Petrov had great performances each as rookies against an elite J team. But ultimately we had to go with the Zerk who scored the lone goal in the low scoring affair congratulations!

Game 34: Maine at Newfoundland
A painful game that ended 1-0 in favor of Newfoundland. Bigga Foryu was electric in net for Maine stopping 47 shots on 48 attempts. Wow.

Zerk of the Game honors: Goes to the lone goal scorer in Sabarro Torretta. Playing solid D at the blue line the rookie lifted us with his game winning goal at even strength congrats!

Game 35: Carolina at Newfoundland
We love frying up Kraken here in Newfoundland and we did that again today by outsourcing them 6-3. Really solid offense all around. Bas O’Bigbers and Dwayne Gretzky both had 2 goals a piece.

Zerk of the Game honors goes to: Dwayne Gretzky for having a dominant 3rd period and overall game that included 2 goals and 1 assist.

Postgame Coverage: Sorry again for the brief coverage in this post but it was necessary to catch up. We’ll be back to normal coverage for gameday 15. After an okay enough two days the Zerks still remain the number 3 team in the SMJHL on points. Let’s go!
