Today, I will be looking at the most impactful player for each position on the Nevada Battleborn who has played 51 games up to this point getting 57 points and sitting in fourth place in the West.

Before looking at the players from the Battleborn, the first question that needs to be answered is how we are going to measure the impact of each player. First, we need to use stats that take icetime into account, this is why we will use four stats that are provided by FHM that take time of ice into account. These stats are goals for per 60 minutes of ice time, goals against per 60 minutes, shots for per 60 minutes and shots against per 60 minutes of time spent on the ice. From these four stats, we created two of our own to measure the impact of payers when they are on the ice. The first one will be goal differential per 60 minutes of ice time which we obtain by subtracting goals against per 60 minutes from goals for per 60 minutes. The second statistics is similar, but for shots and is called shot differential per 60 minutes of ice time which we obtain by subtracting shots against per 60 minutes from shots for per 60 minutes.

We will start with centers. Raivo Helminen comes out on top in both statistics with a goal differential of 1 and a shot differential of 4.5. Rob Wright follows closely on the shot differential side by getting 4.4 shots more than his opponent per 60 minutes of ice time. Aidan Quinn is the only center with a negative impact going by the goal differential metric, while Vladlen Sidorov is also the only one with a negative impact if we look at the shot differential metric.

Looking at the left wingers, we found that a different player is at the top of each statistic. Chad Danger has the most impact in terms of goals, because the Battleborn scores one more goal than the opposition for each 60 minutes he spent on the ice. Young Logo is on top for shot differential with a value of 4.8. Brandt Underton is the only left winger for which the opposition scored more goals than the Battleborn when he is on the ice.

Let’s turn our attention to the players who play right wing. Like for left wingers, we have to different players at the top of each statistic. For goal differential per 60 minutes, Sven Gunnar comes out first with a differential of 1.1, while Owen Bowden is on top for shot differential per 60 minutes with a differential of 4.1. The only player to have a negative impact in terms of goals is Juan Hunna-Pussent and the only player to have a negative impact in terms of shots is Erik Andrews.

Let’s end this deep dive by looking at Nevada’s defenseman. Here, we have a clear winner by the name of NeverBrokeAgain YoungBoy. YoungBoy is first in goal differential with his team scoring 1.2 more goals that their opponent for every 60 minutes when he is on the ice. He is also on top in shots differential per 60 minutes with a massive value of 15.7. Bane is the only defenseman has a negative impact in terms of shot differential, while both Rude Sniff and Eero Makela have a negative impact if you look at the goal differential per 60 minutes.

An interesting find is that Brandt Underton is the only player to have a negative impact by looking at both metrics.
