S58 PT #6 Your Season
#46

This season wasn’t quite what I’d call a breakout season for Ethan Duncan, but it was a serious step up from where he was before. Last season, he scored 6 goals and had 29 assists for 35 points and had a plus/minus of -27 and 56 PIMs. Not very good, but was third on the team in overall scoring. This season, Duncan had 21 goals and 37 assists, good for 58 points and a plus/minus of +18, all career highs. He brought his penalty minutes way down to just 12 as well and was second on the Platoon in scoring. So, I was very pleased with how Duncan did and hope this isn’t a fluke and that he continues to progress as we progress.

The team as a whole also took a big step forward, reaching the postseason for the first time since S49 capping off an amazing 14-5-1 run in the last 20 games and clinching in the second to last game against division rival New England. My linemate Karl Krashwagen led the league in goals and scored 9 goals in his final 9 games, which is an incredible achievement that few of us realized was possible so soon. It’s really great to hear such a good guy mentioned around the league in the MVP conversation. While we face an uphill battle against Edmonton in the first round and are currently down two games to none, the trend is clearly a good one as many of our prospects are finally reaching the point to drive this team forward.

Overall I have to say that I am super happy with how the regular season panned out for myself and especially for the entire Newfoundland squad as we have far exceeded expectations thus far. We were a team that everyone expected to take a step forward (obviously couldn't get worse from last year) but I don't think anyone expected us to go right back into the leagues top 3 teams after a quick one season rebuild. As far as my individual performance I would say I am a bit more torn while still being mostly satisfied with my performance. I am just slightly disappointed with my overall points total topping out at 36. I would have really liked to hit the 40 point mark but its hard to be too disappointed while ended up the 4th highest scoring defenseman in the league while logging the tough minutes for a young defensive group.

This year, my player Travis Konecny had a great season. We can't rule out the possibility that he was carried by his teammates to his 23 points and +/- of +20, but it seems unlikely. It is reassuring to play in front of the greatest goaltender in SMJHL history, but that probably wasn't the X factor. TK had 4 shorthanded points this season, and only 2 on the PP, and his 2 shorthanded points tied the league in that category. His four shorthanded points tied him for 1st in that category, and although TK wasn't intended to be a PK specialist he seems pretty good at that so I'll take it. This year, TK converted to a Center because of his team's need, and it went well. With 71 blocks in 66 games, TK prevented pucks from reaching his team's star goaltender, and his average time on ice of 11:32 was enough for him to make his mark in the J and help his team secure the regular season title. Now its time for him and #killowna to try and make a cup run!

So it was Igor's first year up in the Simulation Hockey League this season, overall he did okay. There wasn't anything in particular he excelled at, he was able to play top minutes on the top 4, but overall his rookie season left a lot for him to improve upon. If you look at rankings among the top 10 TPE earners in the S55 class, all who played their first years in the big leagues, he was right where you would expect him to be. He's currently the 7th highest earning D in the class, and his stats put him around 5-6th in the over all class.
In sixty-six games he was able to score 3 goals, 11 assists, for 14 point total. Which, as expected, is a drastic drop from his last year in the juniors where he was able to put up 13 G, 20 A, 33 P total.

In comparison the rest of the class you have players like Foley, Park and DuBolk leading with the Goals (10, 10, 6) and Foley, Lambert, Park, Oscarsson leading in A (29, 24, 21, 17).

Igor's 3 goals puts him at tied for tied for 4th, and 11 A puts him at 9th best. So, again, room for improvement in both those areas. The only play he truly excelled at, was his DGR which stood at 66, the best in the class. So while he may not be scoring as much, he's damn sure playing his role.

I was stoked to see Mats Marner have a big improvement in his sophomore coming off a somewhat disappointing rookie season after being a former MVP in the SMJHL. This season Marner was able to put approximately twenty more points in comparison to season fifty eight and had improved numbers in hit categories, shots blocked, plus/minus, advanced stats improving his game in pretty much all categories while having very similar playing time compared to last season. At the start of the season I set an ambitious goal for Mats Marner of reaching over fifty points this season and was really glad to reach it. In addition, as a team the Calgary Dragons also improved their team play this season taking back their division and beating out the Edmonton Blizzard for first place in the division and clinching the firs round bye in the post season. However the true measure of whether this will be a successful season for the Dragons and Marner will depend on how deep the Dragons go in the playoffs.

This season wasn't quite the career year for Noah like his previous season, but it was still a decent season none the less. He averaged over a point per game and did set a career high in the plus minus category. With an astounding +39 on the year, he managed to finally bring his career total up to an even 0 and finally recover from his abysmal -52 from a few seasons back. On a team level, this was an amazing year for Noah and the Renegades. They finished at the top of the standings and brought home the president's trophy for the most points in the regular season. Expectations are running high for the team as they head to the playoffs for their 4th straight appearance. In the three previous seasons, they've managed to win a total of 1 game. Noah hopes to get his first playoff series victory, with the ultimate goal being to make the Challenge Cup finals and bring home the coveted trophy.

my third season in the junior is obviously the best season I ever had. Having put 12 goals with 35 assists for a total of 47 points as well as a plus minus of +35 (just behind Michael Scotch with +36). With 206 shots, I am only behind Pearce with his 211 goals(league leader in goals by a large margin). With 129 hits, I lead the team just before Makela(121) and hamilton with 112. However, even if those stats may seem good, we have an amazing roster and I feel like my stats really got pumped by it. in Hindsight, I expected a better PPG from myself(especially since I'm an offensive defenseman).
Looking at the team as a whole, this has been one of the most dominating season of any teams I have ever seen and I am glad I have the luck to be a part of this amazing group. We have an amazing locker room and I really hope that we can bring the cup home.

Breaking 40 points is a pretty significant career milestone for me - so I guess next season I'll aim for 50 points because that's how it works right? Unfortunately our seasons didn't quite go as well as it should've. The Winnipeg Aurora should have been clearly ahead of the Seattle Argonauts and the Minnesota Monarchs but unfortunately the start of the season presented a few hiccups, meaning that the third seed in the Northwest division went down to the wire, hinging on a few crucial last games. Not what we wanted, and currently getting pounded on in the playoffs by the Buffalo Stampede doesn't boost morale either but it is what it is. Hopefully our team can continue growing as the younger players continue to mature, and we can compete in the Northwest division for second place instead of just the third seed slot. I am hoping that we don't get swept in the playoffs, and that we can do better in IIHF.

BALTIMORE IS PLAYOFF BOUND BABY!!!! HELL YEAH! I couldn't be happier to have our playoff drought end in my rookie season.  By no means am I claiming credit for the team's success, but it is nice to be on a team with hope.  Park's individual statistics also make me happy.  Throughout my career in the J I had Park as just under half a point per game so that continuing even into the SHL is a welcome surprise.  Honestly across the board Park's numbers aren't bad at all.  I had under 19 mins of ice time per game, but still managed to finish with around 80 hits and blocked shots with a game rating of 55.  Probably my favorite stat from this season though is a barely negative goal differential for BAP when I was on the ice.  Park finished -6 and averaged 3.3 GA/60 to 2.9 GF/60.  Better than I expected by a long shot.  Hopefully next season those numbers improve and Park ends up sporting at least a neutral goal differential, but I'm happy with my rookie season in the SHL.

My season has been fantastic and I am so grateful for the opportunity that Flex and Evok have given me, both on the second line and on the first power play line. I have repaid their immeasurable trust by giving them an MVP caliber season. I personally do not believe that I have a legitimate shot at the award, but being in the conversation for it is a fantastic feeling. I ended up leading the league in points, which is a massive accomplishment. Unfortunately, I finished two points off of Zdenko Beranek's 71 point last season, but finishing at 69 points is very nice. My goal this season was to be a pure shooter and to lead the league in goals but that did not materialize and instead I finished second in the league. Assist wise, I was fourth in the league, behind only QCC players. I am very thankful for everything that the community puts into the league and I can't wait for next season!

Esa Parmborg had a career season and set the new record for most assists in the 66 game FHM era with a whopping 60 assists! It turned out to be a fantastic season for Parmborg with 79 points, 19 goals and he finished top 5 in league scoring along with my teammate and linemate the great Barry Batsbak. The Dragons as a team went 44-19-3 with 91 points and a +81 goal differential en route to winning the Northwest Division for the 2nd time in the last 3 seasons while holding off Edmonton which is always extremely satisfying. In doing that we made the playoffs for the 33rd time in the last 35 seasons. As a GM I passed 1000 career wins which was pretty cool also. The #1 goal when Calgary starts out every season is to make the playoffs and give ourselves an opportunity to win the cup, the #2 goal is to beat Edmonton and win the division. We accomplished both so far which is great but now our focus turns to the cup. We like our chances and will continue to work hard as a team to bring the championship back to Calgary.

I feel pretty great about this season, to be honest. I set a career high in assists, goals, and (as you might expect) points. Texas performed above expectation in just about every category-- dominating the league while still being 2-3 seasons from peak. There really isn't much to complain about! I feel like I evolved well in my role, it was exciting to see Kondos come in as a rookie and excel on my line. I hope this is the taking off point for a strong career of actual point production for Burlok, rather than just being a quiet defensive helper. It certainly felt good to hit 40+ points for the first time. I was a real contributor.

I suppose if there's anything to lament it's that I went pretty cold to close out the regular season. I think at one point I was on pace for 20 goals and 40 assists, but I sadly fell short on both of those. Definitely would have been fun to stay hot, hit those milestones, and creep super close to a point per game. I did get my 100th SHL point in just my third season, so it's hard to complain about that too! I dunno! I struggle to find stuff to be upset about! Here's hoping that continues to be the case moving forward!

Quote:Written task: Tell me about your season. What kind of stats did you put up? How did that compare to what you were hoping for at the start of the season? How did your team do? Whatever you like really, just a recap of the season for your player (150+ words)

On the player level, this was a very good season. Adam Barron finished with the most points of any defenseman and had great possession numbers with his perennial D partner Axel Meszaros. I think I had a good enough season to be nominated for the Stevens (best D) and it feels great to put up strong numbers in what is probably going to be my second-best season TPE wise. Goals, Assists, Plus/Minus, shots, hits, and shot blocks were all career highs this season.

(I know it’s not technically a part of the question, but the user behind the player had a great time this season too.)

On the team level, this was a very good season. Toronto finished way above expectations, not only making the playoffs but doing so in 2nd in the Great Lakes division and behind only Texas and Hamilton in points. Though the play-in against San Francisco was a much closer matchup than I expected, it’s always good to finish as best as you can. S58 has me very excited for the future with Toronto, and I’m looking forward to how we can do once some of our younger players start hitting their prime.

Grape Fruit finished his rookie season with 15 points. This total is not super high but around where I expected him to finish. It is much better than one of the test sims I ran at the beginning of the season where he only scored 4 points on the year and didn't even get a goal. Coming into the league after only 3 junior seasons is a disadvantage to some other rookies that had more seasoning in the juniors so I did not expect to compete for the rookie of the year award. Another big transition this season was a shift from left wing to center. Based on team need, it was the best option and helped the team out a lot. I'm excited for this to continue into next season as I acquire more TPE. The biggest thing will be to continue the trajectory that I am on and hopefully the team's performance will improve as I gain TPE. Overall, I was pleased with this season.
