One Year on Site/Johnny Shuffleboard Presser
#1
(This post was last modified: 04-13-2021, 01:44 PM by mee.)

My first year on the site is going to come to a close next weekend (joined April 17th). I'm just posting this now to get this started, also hopefully by next week the season might be going (?) and I'll be less bored.
Hit me up with all the questions.
Also just signed in EDM so this can double as my introduction presser.

I only had two choices of where I was going to go. I knew right away it was Edmonton or staying in Minnesota. Not that I told anyone that, but that was the truth.
I knew that I would be comfortable there. Knowing that boom and noka were in the LR was a large part of it. I really like the job Keygen and Tommy do. I knew I wanted to be part of it.

3.Overall thoughts on the site since you first joined? Any catharsis in continuing to earn TPE at a high level after going in the 3rd round?

4.Why can't Shuffleboard bench press good?
1. Hoping to win a cup of course! I'd also like to blossom into the good offensive defenseman I have been trying to build. Put up some points, light the lamp a bit, ya know.
2. Let me teach you something I have learned in my (still very young!) life. If you really want to enjoy something you just have to jump in and not look back. I have little doubt that I'm going to enjoy EDM, taking a shorter contract just allows me to think "Oh, I can always leave after a season."
Also, with signing in EDM I am now a part of 3 SHL organizations and I haven't even started my second season. I'm trying to keep that number a little bit down. Don't want to be an SHL journeyman.
3. As has been chronicled on this site, I took a vacation right before our draft and didn't come back until almost a full season had passed. I fully expected to come back with my player being an undrafted prospect overage coming into the S56 Entry Draft.
This site is pretty sick (especially so compare to the ISFL's Undecided ). I would never recommend it to anyone... Only because I can't admit how much of a nerd I am that I want to be part of a fake hockey league.
4. Not sure what you mean. 250 easy. (No, I never did that. But I also never tried, so prove that I can't.)

This question is incoherent. Shuff is good. MCP is bad. As such, the question must be asked to MCP, not Shuff.

So funny you ask. Johnny Shuffleboard was very much almost Johnny Waffleboard originally. Thankfully I didn't go with that. How Waffleboard became Shuffleboard? Not really sure, but it sounds WAY better I think we can all agree on that. (This was in a different sim league, Shuffleboard was borrowed from there).

I had to take a break in Minnesota. Not sure I really count.

How are you enjoying GMing WJC USA?
1) Raiden put up 22 points. Shuffleboard put up 16 points, but Shuffleboard plays defense. That should be worth around 7 points, so Shuffleboard has 23 points. 23>22 so Shuffleboard is better.
2) It was awesome! I was hoping to get a medal, but we fell in the quarters. I was given the USA JV team and managed to get them to the five seed (the V team got the six). We went to overtime with the British Isles... The base test sim was 90% losses, and mostly blowouts. It was really cool and a great learning experience. And a big shout-out to Gumba who co-GMed with me, letting me take the lead role and then guiding me given that I had no idea what the heck I was doing.

Hi! Go Second Line! So let's do some stats comparisons. Here in the SHL stats are out of 20, while in ISFL it is out of 100. So all SHL numbers have to be multiplied by 5. The other way to do this would be TPE spent, but that's too much math for me. Also, TPE is easier in ISFL..
Strength: ISFL 65 SHL 15*5=75
Agility: ISFL 85 SHL 15*5=75
Speed: ISFL 90 SHL 15*5=75
Endurance/Stamina: ISFL 61 SHL 16*5=80

As you can see, the stats actually show a solid balance. Johnny Shuffleboard does have around 2x the TPE (1077 vs 568), so I'd give the edge to him.

This is a loaded question right here. I will gladly say that dmills is short. That much is not up for debate. But to say I like dmills is quite a statement, and I see why you want me to defend it. So you see, mills was the one who drafted and DFAd me to Vancouver so I do owe him for that. But overall he's a pretty good dude. Shame there isn't more of him. Ya know, another three or four inches.

Shoes. Usually, a good thing to wear on one's feet. However, while playing hockey it is not suggested, as one should be wearing skates...

1) Because like Chris Kreider I have a sick playoff goatee
2) Yes, I am,
3) No. Toronto clearly has the most points (59). Then Winnepeg (53). Then Edmonton (52). Then the Canadiens. So no.
4) Myself obviously, not sure what the question is. Nah, it's probably Daniil Nikiforov of BAP. He's a great user too.
5) Fresh is a good dude, we spoke a few times. I like him.
6) Nok is weak AF.

I was. Very much so. I was super sicked to be a BUF for life guy, and boom I'm on MIN. Now I enjoyed the season, and I'm very to be in EDM now, but at the time of the trade I was pretty mad at you.

If you were commissioner for a day, what one idea would you implement to better the site?

Have you ever thought of managing outside of the IIHF circuit?
1) I really wish I knew the answer to this. (You kinda asked me this either before I signed or maybe in the LR right after?) It's a feeling. There has to be a core of good guys, but playful banter is crucial. Obviously, having relationships with people before helps with the breaking-in process. But I really don't know the right answer to this.

2) We need leaders in the index Wink . Outside of that, the offseason is too long. Do something about it. There is GM burnout also, which gets ugly I'm sure. And we need Championship Reform, it's way too hard as is.

3) Haven't really given tons of thought to it. I do plan on helping Vancouver test if they want me to. It is was very time-consuming, the coaching. Running ten tests can easily take some half an hour between trying to make sure that you have all the stats you want to record, and trying to make sure you are testing what you want to test, and whatever partners you have are on the same page as you. I wouldn't say no, but I wouldn't say yes if I was offered a job right now. Also, the WJC is basically pure coaching, maybe a little bit of running the LR in the WJC Discord, but not the same as an SHL/SMJHL team. No scouting or drafting or budgeting. Budgeting I could do, the scouting and drafting maybe not.
Thanks for making give some thought to it now.
