Jersey sales of @lilstifler Krišs Dārziņš have been through the roof thanks to his recent performance in this year's IIHF tournament. While Latvia is still a somewhat developing nation and was unable to make it to the medal rounds, analysts are calling the S59 tournament Krišs Dārziņš’ breakout moment of his career. Not only did he lead his nation with 12 points in 12 games, but the S53 winger had the second most goals in the tournament with 9 (one behind first place) along with a shooting percentage of 25.7. Beating out big names like Bobby Lane, Elijah Jones, Van Otter, Jon Forty one and Julio Tokolosh is something Krišs should feel proud of and it will be interesting to see if he can carry this momentum into the SHL as we slowly begin S59.
While Jack Kanoff and Michael Scarn are bigger names on Seattle, all eyes will be on Dārziņš and if he can continue this breakout year into S59, Seattle might just be able to sneak into the playoff this season as they were just beaten out by Winnipeg who only had a couple of extra points on them. Krišs finished the S58 year with under 15 goals and a -17, but he did manage to put up 38 points in 66 games making him over a 0.5 point per game player.
I predict Seattle WILL make the playoffs this season and Dārziņš will crack 25 goals , but I wouldn’t go as far as saying they are cup contenders this season unless some more big moves come at the trade deadline.
