Today we take a look at the Quebec City Citadelles most recent draft, and the prospects they selected:

Round One - Pick Three (Third Selection overall): Left Wing - Greyson Cooper (Jersey Number 95)
*Standing 5'9" in height and weighing 200lbs, Greyson Cooper has all the makings of a dynamic scorer in the SMJHL. Scouts have ranked Cooper's speed and shooting accuracy both as twelves on the board. He's going to be quick, and he's going to be deadly scoring the puck. He also does an excellent job of getting open, with scouts largely rating him as an thirteen in the category. This should create plenty of scoring opportunities, and lead to some easy assists for his teammates. There absolutely is not any mystery as to why the defending Champions traded up to add him into the fold. The biggest question with Cooper is where was this guy born? There is literally no record of it! We suspect the announcers will have to borrow from the world of professional wrestling this upcoming season by announcing Cooper from the mysterious "Parts Unknown".

Round One - Pick Twelve (Twelfth Selection overall): Left Defenseman - Ryan Gardner (Jersey Number 30)
*Standing 6'4" in height and weighing 251 lbs, Ryan Gardner is a mountain of a man. Scouts rank Gardner's strength as an eleven, which is not surprising for a man his size. He is absolutely fearless on the ice. The hulking bruiser from Alexandria, Virginia never shies away from confrontation. He should be a formidable presence on the defensive end. For a young player, he reads and positions himself well. There will certainly be a learning curve for him this season as he works to improve his offensive game at least somewhat, but there is some projected room for growth there with a bit of coaching. One interesting fact about Gardner: he also plays guitar for a heavy metal band. Let the hits keep coming, on the ice and off.

Round Two - Pick Nine (Twenty-first Selection overall): Right Defenseman - Alfred Yankovic (Jersey Number 22)
*Standing an even 6' and weighing 185 lbs, Alfred Yankovic is not the largest of defensemen. However, he has a tremendously well-rounded game. Scouts rave about just how many different things this guy does well, ranking him as a solid eleven on boards in puckhandling, checking, hitting, positioning, defensive reads, acceleration, balance, speed and strength. Yankovic is absolutely a complete hockey player. As with any prospect, there looks to be a tremendous amount of room for growth here, too. Word is Yankovic has been putting in a ton of time with the coaches, and there may already be some rise in his abilities that we haven't even seen yet. The Andorf, Austria native may end up being the steal of the second round. For some odd reason we all feel he may play one mean accordion. Quebec City may save a ton of money on pre-game shows this season. But don't take our word on that last part. We lost in Jeopardy!

Round Two - Pick Eleven (Twenty-third Selection overall): Right Wing - Hail Bingus (Jersey Number 1)
*Standing an even 5' in height and weighing 150 lbs, Hail Bingus is diminutive in stature. At this time we are unsure, however, if he is not the world's largest hairless cat? Unsurprisingly, he is lightning quick on the ice. Blink and you just might miss him. Scouts rate Bingus as a twelve in speed, agility and acceleration; which accounts for his twelve score in getting open. The right-pawed Ontario native can score it, too. He rated as an eleven in the shooting accuracy category. Bingus should be another offensive weapon for Quebec City this coming season. We are just keeping our paws crossed he can pass his veterinarian administered physical.

Round Three - Pick Eleven (Thirty-fifth Selection overall): Center - Darrell Niskala (Jersey Number 7)
*Standing 6'2" in height and weighing 250 lbs, Darrell Niskala is going to be another big presence in the Quebec blue and whites. Niskala is another very well-rounded player. When scouts look at him, the ratings that really pop are his puckhandling, screening, checking and ability to get open; which all rate as elevens. He's versatile on the offensive and defensive ends, however. He possesses great physical tools. The Montreal native should only continue to build upon a really solid foundation with the coaching in Quebec City, too. Quebec City took a bevy of young centers in this draft, and fans are surely excited to see what this guy can do on the ice.

Round Four - Pick Eleven (Forty-Seventh Selection overall): Center - Kerbal Rais (Jersey Number 59)
*Standing 6'2" in height and weighing 190 lbs, Kerbal Rais is another young Center prospect in Quebec City this season. The part of Rais' game that has scouts absolutely gushing is his pure passing ability, as the general consensus among the scouting community has him rated as a fourteen in the passing department. He should immediately be able to come in and move the puck around the ice with the best of them in the SMJHL. He reads well, too, on the offensive end. By all accounts, he also possesses a tremendous amount of stamina. As he continues to progress with coaching, it will be exciting to see what other areas of his game open up.

Round Five - Pick Eleven (Fifty-Ninth Selection overall): Center - Andrew Jackson (Jersey Number 13)
*Standing 6'3" in height and weighing 203lbs, Andrew Jackson will be yet another Center prospect for Citadelles fans to keep an eye on. He passes well and is an exceptional puck handler, with most scouts giving him thirteens in those categories. What Jackson also really does tremendously well though is win face off opportunities, with scouts solidly rating him as a twelve in that category. The rumor is he might be Batman, but our sources have neither been able to confirm or deny this as fact. What we do know, however, is that he should bring a ton of excitement to the team this season with some nice passes to his teammates.

Round Five - Pick Twelve (Sixtieth Selection overall): Goalie - Kevin Newman (Jersey Number 73)
*Standing 5'10" in height and weighing 185 lbs, Kevin Newman is a hot goalie prospect out of Canada. Where, specifically, we do not know. However, what we do know is he has good reflexes and positioning, he blocks shots well, he can rebound and recover, and he has a strong glove hand. Scouts have universally rated him as an eleven in every single one of the aforementioned categories. The foundation is there for him to build upon with continued coaching.

Round Six - Pick Eleven (Seventy-first Selection overall): Passed
