S59 PT #1 Preseason
#76

It is really interesting as I just actually did the Casino bets. With this season, we have the New England Wolfpack at the bottom of the Atlantic Division. I don't think that it will be accurate. It's crazy to think that the Wolfpack will be worse than the Manhattan Rage as well as the Barracuda who has averaged about 20 points higher than the Wolfpack. That is ridiculous to think especially with many different changes along with additions such as FR Fynn Rhys who will be such a great addition to this team. We also have Buffalo as the highest point total of the season with 108 points. I could definitely see that happening with the Texas Renegades coming in second with 107 points. We have Hamilton in 3rd with 102 points. That Great Lakes division is absolutely crazy because they have many teams that will just out point the entire other divisions. I think that will be the best division to deal with, but it'll be fun to see!

There is lots of positive chatter coming out of the Texas Renegades locker room at the start of S59. We had a hell of a run at the cup last season and we look to come out even stronger this season! As for Cillian Kavanagh, I'm looking for another fun season which includes putting up solid numbers and helping my team win games. While I was pleased with my goals against average, I hope to bring up the save percentage significantly. With a defense as good as Texas' I should have a much higher save percentage than .914 this season. Kavanagh be splitting starts with my partner in crime, White Goodman who had an absolutely outstanding last season and I know he'll have more for us this time around. I project Texas to come out of the Western Conference on top and bring home the President's Trophy for the second season in a row. Texas is coming for that cup!

After beating the all time Shot Blocks record last season in the SMJHL, Sean Gatez will once again be focusing on his offensive output now that he has 4 other team mates in the Forest who are looking to produce wildly. He is hoping to get back into rhythm feeding sweet sweet assists to his team mates with the occasional clap bomb from the blue line. Maine as a whole will shed the stink of last season off of us and we will be a full on contender for the cup. With our new rookies, and our sophmore players Maine is going to be a force to be reckoned with for the foreseeable future. Dogwood, Puddles, Jonny, Duncan, Julian, JJ Angler, Gatez and the rest of the Forest look to give teams this season a real wake up call. We are no longer the bare hillside we were last season. Time to make other teams worried this season. Newfoundland we are coming for you!

As Blue is still in the minors, playing for the Kelowna Knights, I can't really say much about how he would play out in the SHL, but as a new member of the San Fransisco Pride, I do think my team will do pretty well, hopefully better than expected, so that the team would be that much better when I come up to hopefully lead the team. It would be really nice to see a complete opposite of what we all expected, to shake the league up a bit and cause a touch of chaos just for it to go back to normal the next season, but that would still be kinda cool. If I had to choose between that or a completely normal season, I would definitely choose the chaos, y'know? Hopefully The knights do really well this season, better than we did last season, and hopefully win the cup.

Wow I can finally see the index and stats and see what my character is doing I'm so happy. Nice index thnks to all for their hard work.

What I'm taking from this preseason is that my player Top Cheddar is going to have an absolute breakout year. Holy shit he's got six points in seven games played, which is pretty nice. I think I had two all of last year. What's crazier is that my updates weren't even in. I've got another 40 some TPE that got dumped into my build between the preseason and the regular season, so look out SMJHL. Top Cheddar is going to be a household name after this season is done. Anaheim to the four star cup, Merica Jr with the ROTY, and everyone knows that it's the Anaheim Outlaws who are the best junior team in the league.

I think the current index is working for preseason and it looks like Jimmy Slothface managed to put up 7 points in the 7 Los Angeles Panthers preseason games. With two goals and five assists it was a fairly productive preseason for the forward, but he was unfortunately minus 7 over these 7 games as well. So he'll have to pick up the defensive side of his game if he wants the team to be successful this season. But it is looking like Jimmy should rebound a bit from his "down" season last season and be around a point per game player this upcoming year. I would expect him to have more goals in his points ratio than we saw in this last preseason, but who knows maybe he'll become a playmaker this season! I don't think we really had strategies in for preaseason so I am not sure how much we can really read into the performance that Slothface had even, but I am anxious to see what happens.

If we look at preseason and choose to extrapolate the data, two teams are going undefeated. Not just in the regular season, but both Atlanta and Edmonton will not lose a single game during the entirety of season 59. More impressive still, Atlanta is going to have a goal difference of +255 at the end of the season. Edmonton will have a very impressive goal difference themselves, with a stat line that would be a record in any other season of +226. Sadly, that still leaves them trailing behind the greatest team that ever was or will be, the S59 Atlanta Inferno. You may be asking yourself, how can 2 teams never lose a game throughout an entire season, and more importantly, how can they not lose in the postseason? There aren’t any ties in hockey. Atlanta and Edmonton play each other fairly early in the season. Someone will lose. That’s where I say you are wrong. During the regular season, their games will be cancelled due to the pandemic. In the postseason, the first game of the series will never actually end. They will keep going in overtime until both teams are collapsed on the ice, with neither scoring. I’m talking a minimum of 25 overtime periods. Neither team is gonna lose this season. The data speaks for itself.

If the preseason is any indication of how the season will go for Hamilton this year, the league should once again be very afraid.  All wins zero losses and many of them either blowouts, shutouts, or both.  I can not sit here and say that Hamilton will go undefeated in the entire regular season but crazier things have happened.  The team is stronger than ever and prepared to defend their title from last year.  Almost all players are back and have increased their TPE significantly.  We are all motivated and excited to run it back again although testing shows there are some other really good teams out there.  We also are apparently playing in the greatest division in the history of the league as every team is tagged to finish as winners this season.  Steel sharpens steel as they say and the Steelhawks are happy to get sharpened by the best of the bunch all season so we will be well prepared for playoff hockey.  The season can not get here soon enough.

Based on the preseason, the Los Angeles Panthers will not win a game this season. Fortunately, I know this is not the case. While the preseason results left a lot to be desired, I have faith in the team and management to right the ship in the regular season. My wallet also believes as LAP over was one of my casino bets. Atlanta and Edmonton going 7-0 are surprising as well. This surely won't hold up in the regular season. Both teams should compete for the top of their division, but I expect them to cool off a bit going into the season. I also expect Texas to perform better than their preseason results. Baltimore seems to have overperformed as well. A lot of teams in their division made improvements this season so they should have a tough time replicating success of last season. As always, preseason is not do or die and every team has the opportunity to step up or step back in the regular season and ultimately the playoffs.

Anchorage's preseason has the whole team feeling pretty pumped up for the upcoming season. We finished 5-2-0, and after our first day of regular season play, are 2-0-1. Some of us were a little skeptical coming into this season losing some key pieces, but thankfully the core of ANC players are hard workers and max earners, accompanied by our glorious leader GM's decision to get the Free Agent goalie, Guy Fieri, we're set to have a solid season. I don't think that we'll be able to come out in top of the league, or even top of the conference, but a 3rd Final appearance in 3 years certainly looks possible. ANC's top two forward and defensive lines are a force to be reckoned with. As much as I'd like to predict that Binder will lead the team in points again, I think this season it'll be a battle between Pablo Salvatici and Janis Lux.

Based on pre-season extrapolation, it is going to be a very long and sad season for Sven Svenson in Season 59 because he is going to score zero goals. It will be a huge step back for the Swedish goal scorer, actually completely regressing to the point of not scoring a single goal. Going from scoring 17 G and 32 A the season before, Sven is looking at a 0 G and 28 A season. While dropping 4 assists isn’t ideal for a player on the rise, dropping to 0 goals from 17 the year prior would be a disaster. Sven would have to seriously think hard about retiring from the league in embarrassment. Even in an awful rookie campaign Sven managed to score 3 goals in 50 games with a putrid 4.8% shooting percentage. Sven finished 6th place in team scoring with 13 points that season. Last season Sven shot at 11.8% on 152 shots and is projected to shot 0.0% on 179 shots this season.

My prediction is that by the end of the season the index may work properly. During the WJC, the medal rounds were not showing, and was never resolved. Additionally, I hope that the filter feature is added, because as aesthetically pleasing as it appears right now, it really is a terrible user experience. The old index was archaic but it worked. This new one is flashy and pretty, but that's about it right now. League Leaders has been a blank placeholder for awhile now, and the whole thing feels a bit clunky. The bright spot is that it is quicker than the forum site, but a snail could give that site a run for its money. I have faith that it will fixed by then, but in all honesty, it really just wasn't ready to be debuted yet. While I can appreciate the work that went into it, I think it was rushed to get it out, and it needed a ton more polish.
