Coming back for part two, of looking at the goalies of SMJHL. The hot, the not, the big glove saves the awful 5 hole attempts. I forgot where I was going with this. But the goalies love them or hate them, do you need them? Goalies are strange creatures, and their stats are as strange. Let's just jump in and look at some of the cuties in net.

Starting off with the team from Maine, one of the few teams that really went 50/50 in terms of their goaltending carousel. And honestly rightfully so, as the two goaltenders really had similar stats to the end of the season. Bloody Oath would finish with a 0.915 save percentage while Bigga Foryu had a 0.914. Bloody had a 3.05 goals-against average, Bigga had a 3.19. Their overall records weren't great, but the consistency between the two goaltenders is what gives the team some hope going forward. If one of the two can really get hot next year, Maine could definitely be running for the playoffs odds.

Now moving onto Nevada Battleborn, who is on the side of “let's ride with this guy” and they sure did. C.K. Supernaw was their number one guy, and they had the utmost confidence in him, and well… he did not do bad, just the team in front of him did not do great. With a record of 12-24-4 and a save percentage of 0.910 that's actually not bad for a team that really struggled all year. Willie Miller is the backup but has not really shown any real threat to step in and become a number in any capacity yet.

Now for one of the best teams in the league, the Newfoundland Berserkers. While they are the best, their goaltending, stats-wise, wasn’t the best. For starters, the number one Hugo Gronroos was a workhouse and while he held his own, many thought there was going to be more than what he delivered. With a stat line of 29-12-5, 0.907 save percentage, and a 2.2 goals-against average, he was good but Hugo unlocked that next level they would be a dominant force in every aspect. The backup rookie Evgeni Petrov had a pretty standard rookie season it seems with a 0.896 save percentage, 2.28 goals against. He will definitely be looking to improve in his sophomore season.

Quebec has an interesting set of goals. Tyler Ward held his own playing 46 games, he put up a 0.910 save percentage and a 2.87 goals-against average. While he can hold the fort, he does need help upfront. Nor Dekes is one that can step up if need be, with a .906, and 2.78. But, but, but I do love goalie controversy, Kevin Newman isn’t a very household name but maybe? Playing only one game he puts up 0.947 save percentage and 2.32 goals against. A secret weapon I say.

The Seattle Scarecrows love Iorek Byrnisom and he loves to play. He is very good but on a bad team. A record of 16-33-5 isn’t something to be proud of, but with that record, he put up 0.907 and 3.52 goals against. He will still be a number one but Seattle needs help all around.

Now Vancouver Whalers are well in a strange pickle, to say the least. The number one Jon St. Ark struggled to really make an impact with a 0.907 save percentage and 3.16 goals against. Nothing to really praise for someone the team had a lot of expectations on. But the youngster Olaf Karsikko came in and played amazing. 0.920 save percentage and 2.81 goals-against average he has forced the team to think about leaving him as the new number one.
