Theo Morgan makes History!
#1

The SHL has had a long and successful 59 seasons, and over those 59 seasons there have been thousands of players who have hit the ice for their teams, each chasing glory. There have been plenty of changes made in the league over its lifetime, and we continue to see current players get better and better. With all these players and all these seasons that have past, there have been tons of records set and tons of records broken, but there is 1 thing that has never been done, until now: A 100-point season.

Last season we saw Michael Scarn come close, as he amassed 93 points in 66 games, becoming the first player to eclipse the 90-point plateau. Coming into this season, Theo Morgan’s sole intention was to get better through his regression and continue to help the Steelhawks. The season started relatively slow, and it looked like he would continue to be a great player for Hamilton, but nothing out of the ordinary. Then it seemed as if something just clicked, and Morgan got back to his old ways. He looked like his Season 56 self, putting up points and scoring goals at will. Even through that, Morgan didn’t think about his total points, but as a goal scorer he had his eyes set on Monkey D. Luffy and Karl Krashwagen’s record of 42 goals in a 66-game season. It took 56 games, but Morgan broke this record. Once this record was broken, his sights changed, and 100 points was the next target. It wasn’t easy, and it went down to the wire. Morgan needed 2 points in the final game of the season, where he amassed 1 goal and 3 assists to hit 102 points and break through the triple digit total.

Following that final game, the media scrum in front of Morgan’s stall in the dressing room was massive, and many reporters wanted to have a word with him after doing something never done before. “Knowing it was possible, I definitely went out there with the mindset of breaking 100 points. I really do need to thank my teammates and the management team here in Hamilton, as I never would have been able to do any of this without them. They really are the reason I can do this, and while my name will be the one near that point total, this is a team thing. I’m also really grateful for my usage over the last few games of the season from the coaching staff, they made it possible to get out there and have the opportunity to do this”.

This is the second time in Theo Morgan’s career that he has had a record-breaking season, and he currently owns the goal records for both the 50 and 66-game seasons in the FHM era. While those records may eventually be taken from him, nobody can take away that he will forever be the first SHL player in history to put up 100 or more points in a single season.

Congrats!! 100 points is an insane milestone to hit. I remember when people would freak at a 70 point season. The league’s changed so much!

Shockingly this is his second best season. In S56 Morgan had 80 in 50 which is an absurd 1.64 ppg (102 in 66 is 1.55) 100 points i think will be much harder to come by going forward so this record might stand for a long time.

I actually didn't think to look at this on a PPG basis, but that's super interesting.

I didn't realize it until after I posted the article, but the last game of the season was actually the 600th in my career, and this season put me above a PPG in my career (608 points in 600 games), split almost evenly in goals (302) and assists (308).

Morgan hits 100 points, breaks the fantasy points record by 8 points, and then Lyle Odelein, in the same season, shatters it by 88 points. Crazy year!

Odelein's fantasy season was absolutely ridiculous. Those blocked shot numbers were out of this world
