OTTAWA, ON - Just a few days ago rumours began to come out that Chicago Syndicate goaltender Mat Smith had been missing for a little while. Most just assumed he went into hiding following the fallout from the embarrassing product recall of his line of Funko Pop bobblehead toys, after it came out that pieces could break off and become a choking hazard. Well today we at Totally Real News Buzz Daily can confirm that Smith was found dead in his Ottawa home. In a morbidly ironic twist of fate, autopsies revealed that the goalie stick from the Funko Pop bobblehead had been lodged in his throat, suggesting that he choked to death trying to prove that this toy was not, in fact, a choking hazard. Nobody from the Chicago Syndicate could be reached for a statement at this time.
