7. Yesterday I watched the SMJHL Prospect showcase streams so I could follow the progress of my player, who was chosen to play for the Sand Lions. After a rough start where the team went 0-2-1, the Sand Lions played a game against the Yoshis where they charged back from a 3-0 deficit to win the game in a shootout. My player also picked up his first point, an assist, on the Sand Lion's first goal of the game. After also picking up a second assist, he was chosen as first star of the game. Despite going pointless in the first three games, my player picked up a total of 5 assists over the next 6 games to close out the stream, helping the Sand Lions improve to a more respectable 4-4-1 record in third place. Although this put the team 5 points back from second, it did leave them 4 points clear of the last place Mexico City Aztecs.

7. I watched the SMJHL regular season sim today (final sim of the season). It was a highly anticipated one because our team had just hopped into 13th place after being last for pretty much the entire season. We had to win one game and hope Detroit lost at least one. So, we played our first. we opened the scoring and then gave up a goal against Maine. Then it went to OT. No winner. We went to a shootout and star prospect, Eddie Creller netted the game winner! We had locked put some distance between us and Detroit. Next, our team watched the scoreboard. Detroit was winning (I think 4-2) then the sim had to restart. They ended up losing the game! We locked in 13th, regardless of what happened in our last game! That restart was clutch. Our players clearly gave up in our last game, after locking up second last, because we lost a game we had a chance to actually win.

It's been interesting to watch the SMJHL Prospects stream. I've been around for a bit but haven't truly seen everything run on FHM6. It looks a lot cleaner than the old sims, and way better than what I'm used to with the sim engine from Durden's days.

One thing I do notice is that the speed is fast enough to not get bogged down by garbage, but pauses for goals and penalties. It's set up nicely. Watching the Yeti games is great as I get to see how my player does, and who the competition is. It really shows that team chemistry matters and it's not all about a single person. It's been awesome to see the people I know from before getting back into it, and seeing the new users get excited about the future.

The streams are great to see what it's going to look like, and I'm stoked to get back into it because of the streams provided. Nice job.

4. Mock Draft PT

6. Write a Deep Dive

7. So last night I watched the IIHF Medal Games stream. The Czechia-Sweden game (won 3-1 by Sweden) was my first exposure to Franchise Hockey Manager 6. I'll be honest, I wasn't really following much of what was going on until the final period, just from an information overload of things flashing up. Once I got used to it, however, the sim here seems pretty cool. The flashing at the bottom has old school Football Manager vibes which as a bit of nostalgia for me, and the play by play does a nice job of showing the on-ice action without seeing the whole game.

The second game, and final, was where I started to actually enjoy the sim hockey. Great Britain v Japan in the final. Superb, I'm from England, so I had a natural team to root for from the start. When Great Britain went 2-0 up in the first period, I was really enjoying the sim, and when the period finished 3-1 i thought Great Britain had it in the bag. Late in the second it all fell apart, as Japan scored two, setting up a tense third period. Then the goalies took over. 3-3 and overtime. One edgy period of overtime (mostly dominated by GB) wasn't enough, as the game went to a second overtime. It wasn't to be for me or Great Britain, as Akira Ren scored the winner for Japan six minutes into the second overtime period.

(All tasks done - previous tasks here)

That's all of 'em, getting you an extra mil on top for 4mil here. Congrats, @Crunk! -ACC

7. Watch an SHL or SMJHL stream on YouTube Today, while relaxing at home, I ended up watching the Regina Elk vs Detroit Falcons game (September 2nd) on ESPN. The expansion team, the Elk, quickly went down by 1 when Victor Zukal, assisted by Ty Murphy, ripped it past our backup goal tender. With 8:34 left in the first there was another goal by the Falcons, this time by Oskar Walther, our backup goalie was getting shelled out there; but quickly we turned the momentum with a goal by Hail Bingus. Quickly following this, we traded another pair of goals, ours scored by Jaeger Jones our first round draft pick.

Boom, another goal for the Falcons 12 seconds into the second, Conner is having a rough game. Both teams tightened up defensively following this until Monsieur Pingy Pingu Lunga Gumba Esq scored with 8 minutes left in the second, 5-2 Falcons. 6-2 Falcons. 7-2 Falcons. Goal by myself, but this game is still looking over, 7-3 Falcons. The third period we decided to put in our starter goalie, which should help us stop the bleeding a bit. Despite this change, it was a bit too late and the game closed out with a final score of 8-4 for the birds. gg

Task #4: Click Here

Task #5: Click Here

Task #6: Click Here

Task #7: I watched the 8/26 PreSeason SMJHL stream. The first game of the stream was between the Anchorage Armada and Great Falls Grizzlies. We saw the Grizzlies go up big in the 1st period. Leading 2-0 at the end of one it looked to be a game way out of reach even with two periods left. Great Falls then proceeded to put two more goals on the board in the first half of the 2nd, taking a commanding 4-0 lead. The Armada had plenty of fight left in them though, scoring 3 unanswered goals to put them within one. Sadly their attempt would come up short and they could never tie it up.

The second game was between COL and Maine. COL got off to a rough start, with Zhen Roza allowing 3 goals in quick succession. During the 2nd period they played with much more urgency managing to put two past the Timber goalie. With just under 7 minutes left COL managed to tie the game at 3 sending the game to OT. After the OT period proved to not be enough the game went to a shootout. With Nystrom and Nishimori scoring for COL it all came down to Raptor Legend Rinky McDangle. He shoots. HE SCORES! COL takes the game in a shootout.

7. Watch an SHL or SMJHL stream on YouTube.

This weekend I tuned into my first SMJHL streams. It was exciting to start the stream and look for my team, The Mexico City Aztecs, and see Dirty Boots on the ice for the first time! It was a great learning experience as well to see how so few TPE points can possibly make a difference. After checking the stats i was able to see Boots received more penalty minutes than expected and wasn't as offensive as I had hoped. He did manage to have a great game where I caught him with a goal and 2 assists which is the ideal game I imagine for Boots!

Tuning into the playoffs was a great experience as well. After seeing the Yoshis take charge in the season it was a big surprise to see the Aztecs shut them down and eliminate them from the tournament early! It came down to one final game between the Yetis and the Aztecs but in the end the Yetis managed to take the lead in the 3rd and run away with it. It was a great championship and a great experience for all the new players!

I can't wait to see more games and be part of more of the action in the SMJHL!

3 more tasks nets you 3 more mil, great work! Make sure to make a new post for your last remaining task with #6! @CapnCooper -ACC
