WJC S60 Team Sweden Roster Announcement
#1

Sweden Sweden Sweden Sweden   Team Sweden WJC Roster   Sweden Sweden Sweden Sweden
Hallå and welcome to the S60 WJC Sweden roster! The committee has scoured the world for Swedish hockey talent to take part in this year's tournament, and we are confident that this is the most capable and skilled team yet. A roster has been assembled from every corner of the SMJHL and we have come up with a team that we believe can win the whole thing. We are proud of all of these players and can't wait to see them on the ice in a few week's time. On another note, there's some folks from Sweden who did not make this team, and that is not a reflection on them but rather a result of having such a deep and talented pool to pull from.
Forwards
Top Cheddar - Vaxjo, Sweden - Anaheim Outlaws Outlaws - @Whikadoodle
Top Cheddar was the top left winger for the Outlaws this season, scoring 17 goals and adding in 18 assists on the year. He brings a lot to the table offensively, and we're glad to have him scoring goals for us in the tournament.
Ric Charlesworth - Brisbane, Australia - Newfoundland Berserkers Berserkers - @"simo_393"
Ric had an outstanding season for the Berserkers, with 25 goals and 25 assists in relatively limited ice time. We hope he can bring that efficiency to the Swedish national team when the games start.
Leon Athansios - Ambelokipoi, Greece - Newfoundland Berserkers Berserkers - @Spartan
The only player on Newfoundland who scored at least 30 goals and had 30 assists, Leon was a powerhouse for the first place Berserkers. We're looking forward to having his experience on the power play for the team.
Tomas Lind - Luleå, Sweden - Carolina Kraken Kraken - @Canadice
Part of Carolina's top line along with Golden Face, Tomas had 21 goals and 29 assists on the season, third on his team for total points. Impressively, he also tallied 95 blocked shots and 130 hits on the season. A physical presence like this helps set the tone for the rest of the game and the team.
Aleks Blixstrom - Luleå, Sweden - Carolina Kraken Kraken - @Exilate
20 goals and 25 assists for Aleks on Carolina this season, with very little overall time on the power play. When building the team, we looked for players like Aleks who would be strong in the 5v5 game, and we are looking forward to see how he does in the tournament.
Cole Carter - Stockholm, Sweden - Anchorage Armada Armada - @Boomcheck
Third on the team in total points, with 32 goals and 26 assists on the season, Cole was a goal-scoring machine. He also wasn't bad on the defensive side either, collecting 28 takeaways on the season. We can't wait to see Cole light up the lamppost in the tournament.
Darwin Koff - Kalmar, Sweden - Vancouver Whalers Whalers - @Lobbanet
Newcomer Darwin had 10 goals and 13 assists for the Whalers in his rookie season, an impressive total given his limited time on the ice for his conference-leading team. We think he'll have even more to show with his increased role on Team Sweden.
Golden Face - Sweden - Carolina Kraken Kraken - @Dewalt27
Top point-getter on the Kraken this season, with an impressive 19 goals and 37 assists. He also played serious minutes on both the power play and penalty kill units as well. Golden Face is the total complete player and we're glad to have him on the squad.
Artemius Nyström - Luleå, Sweden - Colardo Raptors Raptors - @TapdancingNecrons
23 goals and 25 assists for Artemius this season, good for fourth on the team in total points. We were also very impressed with his 124 hits on the year. Artemius will be a major part of our balanced attack going into the group stages.
Eric Tokke - Stockholm, Sweden - Colorado Raptors Raptors - @Graydonsanatomy
Eric had 7 goals and 18 assists on the year for Colorado, and was a major part of their penalty killing unit. One of the Raptor's strongest defensive players, we hope Eric will bring that same fire to Team Sweden.
Lucas Raymond - Sweden - Carolina Kraken Kraken - @jjlangabeer
Second line center for Carolina, Lucas had 16 goals and 27 assists on the season. He spent time on the power play and penalty kill units and brings a nice physical element to the team as well to help anchor his line.
Bjorn Bjorn - Trelleborg, Sweden - Carolina Kraken Kraken - @negs77
Bjorn had 18 goals and 22 assists for the Kraken, all while being on the third line. He also had one of the highest average time spent on the power play for Carolina, and we're going to count on his expertise in critical situations for us.
Defensemen
Ethan Bouchard - Skellefteå, Sweden - St. Louis Scarecrows Scarecrows - @fever95
The top d-man for Team Sweden, Ethan had 14 goals and 20 assists, second on his team in total points among defensemen. He also had the highest average time on the penalty kill, and will be an important leader for an otherwise young defensive unit in Sweden.
Granny PanPan - Sweden - Carolina Kraken Kraken - @GrannyPanPan
Last but certainly not least of our Kraken players on Team Sweden, Granny had 7 goals and 34 assists for Carolina, the most of any defensemen and third on the team overall. Not to be outdone, he also led the team in takeaways and we couldn't ask for a better player to be part of our top pairing.
Adelie de Pengu - Jensele, Sweden - Anaheim Outlaws Outlaws - @WithTheMoose
A newcomer to the league, de Pengu played a lot of penalty killing minutes for Anaheim last season, and we'll be asking them to do the same this year for Sweden.
Melvin Majestik-Moose - Junsele, Sweden - Nevada Battleborn Battleborn - @SchwarzNarr
In Melvin's first season in the league, they had 4 goals and 14 assists on the season. More importantly, however, they had 136 blocked shots and 85 hits. While Team Sweden has a lot of offensive power, it will be down to players like Melvin to keep them in it when things get tough.
Samuel Kjellsson - Lund, Sweden - Quebec City Citadelles Citadelles - @Tanner
The lone Citadelle on the team, Samuel had 6 goals and 21 assists on the year, recording big minutes on the penalty killing unit. Adding in his 109 blocked shots and 74 hits, Samuel is the balanced defenseman we want on our team.
Björn Viggosson - Gävle, Sweden - Anaheim Outlaws Outlaws - @Ace
While naturally a right winger, we are having Björn play defense for the Swedish team this season, which he has graciously agreed to. Selfless players like this are the folks we want on our Team Sweden.
Goalies
Willie Miller - Sweden - Nevada Battleborn Battleborn - @Sebster
Miller and the Battleborn had a tough season, but we think Miller will be the battle-tested goalie we need for the WJC. Willie has no quit in him, and those are the players we want suiting up for us.
Jonas Johansson - Sweden - Newfoundland Berserkers Berserkers - @Omniscius
Jonas was the backup goaltender for Newfoundland last season, but her performed admirably with a 1.98 GAA and .906% SV%. There isn't another goalie in the world we'd want backing up Miller this season.
