(Graded) Deep Dive #2 - The Knights draft after #killowna

This is the story of the team that came after the team. No one ever remembers them, the team that just tries to hold itself together after the superstar laden team that won the championship the year before but I am here to make sure that didn't happen. Very few people got to stay after the hype of winning the four star cup whether it be to call ups, or age outs, or just trades and free agency moves. The Knights moved hard to build a contender in season fifty nine but also set the ground work for season sixty and the future with moves bringing in draft picks for future seasons. Season fifty nine saw the knights go fourty nine wins, thirteen losses, and four losses in overtime. This was good for best in the league and the twitter hashtag of #Killowna. They go on to win the Four Star Cup and the rest is history. Gone from the team now are Vlastislav Malik, Robert Feltersnatch, Roboute Gouilliman, Travis Konecny, Michael Scotch, Kou Saotome, Kian Hamilton Jr., Richard LaFleur, A-Rye Izzy, Chad Danger, Brennan Huff, Mikhael Petrov, Logan Wong, Grandmaster Funk, and Valtteri Aalto. Fifteen players!

Returning players for the Knights included, Satoru Gojo, Gerry Atrick, Danny C, Cian McFelter, and Patrick Toes. I am not a hockey wizard or anything like that but only returning 5 skaters and a Goalie in Benjamin Blue II is a good start to a rough finish.
This is a team that is destined for the back of the bus while they learn the ropes from the start. Luckily the Knights were prepared for this and went hard in the draft. They were looking for players who were in it to build the locker room season one and get some steals along the way. In the Season sixty Simulation Major Junior Hockey League draft they got to work.

At pick number twelve they selected Leons Briedis. What can't be said about this guy. Arguably the most active locker room presence of the draft and a great earner in his own regard.
At pick number seventeen they selected Tomas Zadina. This is a huge locker room guy and whether or not he is a long term solution has yet to be seen as he may be a one and done player.
At pick number twenty two the Knights selected Petra Sabor and they hit the ground running in the locker room and out of it as they have solidified themselves as a future asset of this team.
At pick number twenty nine the Knights selected Hard hitting winger Duncan MacKenzie who has been another guy who is looking to be a long term solution to this season's Knights lack of success on the ice
At pick number thirty four the Knights made a pick that shocked me more than anything. Having every team other than the Knights reach out during the scouting period, hearing The Knights select Sean Stevenson III, Center really threw me for a loop. Jury is still out on if they made a good pick.
At pick number thirty six they hit on yet another top prospect late in the draft as they took Jason Playstation, goalie of the future.

late in the draft the Knights started throwing darts at a dartboard trying to find some more hidden gems Sebastian Weiss (steal of the draft), Scott Thorn, Tim Rocker, Zachary Berdan, and Luca Shark all taken at pick 60 or later. With this one draft class the Knights have come out and made a statement that by season 62 they will be contenders again with a different recipe for success this time that maybe won't leave the coffers as barren as #killowna did.
